Wonderfull medium size hotel, perfectly located just a few blocks from good restaurant and bar areas. Modern rooms well maintained and a really nice crew. One of my favorite ones when traveling to Madrid. Nice informal restaurant to eat something or take a drink after work if you don´t want to go out.

This is BY FAR the best service oriented hotel in Madrid. You CANNOT beat the location. Near everything and 2 minutes walk from bus and metro station. 10 minutes walk to Gran Via and major Madrid attraction. Every service is literally less than ten minutes walking. Tens of restaurants are less than five minutes away. There is also a 24 hour clinic, 2 minutes away and they do home/hotel visits. The Hotel has been totally renovated in 2017 and the property is in a wonderful shape (thanks to the great management). The hotel is also extremely safe and secured with 24 hours monitoring. Also, the hotel offers very nice traditional or intercontinental breakfast at its main restaurant; CHIPEN. That being said, the Staff of this hotel is what consistently making this property the best in my eyes (and I travel a lot annually and use Sofitel properties around the world). They provide much better service that nearly all five star hotels that I have been staying in. The staff of Mercure Madrid Plaza de España are extremely professional, kind and attentive. They go way beyond their call of duty to satisfy and accommodate their guests. Their absolute attention to details and their positive attitude really makes all the difference. I chose Mercure Madrid Plaza de España solely for that particular reason, which is the main forte of this property. And I have been choosing this hotel for the past 22 years for this particular reason. My last stay, which was a rather long one, was not any different. I totally enjoyed my stay at Mercure Plaza de España, and I was made to feel right at home. Every detail was noticed and fulfilled. Never had one single issue or concern. I would like to thank all the hotel's wonderful staff whom I had the pleasure of dealing with, starting from the hotel's manager Mr. Rafael and his deputy Ms.Adreea Brindusa, who made sure I had a wonderful stay. In addition, I am really grateful and thankful for all the other members of the staff: Juan, Lorenzo, Naomi, Hector and Mariya. Who all were absolutely helpful and kind to me throughout my stay. They all went to great length to ensure I felt comfortable and happy. Thank you all so very much. I would also like to mention the great housekeeping service that is always on time and always spotless clean with attention to details. I am looking forward to my next stay soon.

perfect location, excellent, very friendly, professional staff, free use of a gym across the street, great breakfast menu and service, very clean, and on a quiet street. BUT we arrived , just , after Christmas and the room had not been heated. Goodness when we put on the heating ( it took a vey long time to warm up the room ), we knew that it was on. The room shook , rattled, and ,rolled. Like- wise for the air conditioning during our summer stay. The rooms are smalland it would be nice to have a chair, some plants on the nice , big balcony. Do not stay out late because the cleaning crew will wake you up VERY early, talking loud and throwing the vacuum cleaners around. It is , also an , exquisite, pleasure to be lying in your bed at night and hearing every word said by the people in the neighboring room and to hear them showering , the toilette flushing. The walls are paper-thin. This Mercure is expensive when compared to other hotels of the same brand. ( the rooms are bigger and more modern at the other Mercure's ). The bathrooms and rooms , in general, need serious renovation. What a shame. this could have been a great hotel.

I have been staying in this property for about 20 years (since it was a Sofitel property). I keep coming back because of the unique location of the hotel and the great hotel staff that this particular property had over the years. In 2020, and during these hard times, I stayed at Mercure Plaza De España for two long stays in June and in October. Both stays were impeccable. All the hotel staff did everything possible to make me feel safe, welcomed and happy with my stay. All the front desk staff and management were absolutely welcoming, helpful and courteous. I would like to thank every single one of them for their help during my stays. Lorenzo, Juan, Hector, Andreea and Naomi. Especially, LORENZO, who I had the pleasure of knowing, he has been working at the hotel for years; he made certain that all my needs were met and beyond. He is a credit to this hotel. Also, Andreea, who is extremely helpful and attentive, she made sure my preference were met and maintained throughout my stay. As well as Naomi who also was wonderfully helpful and assisted me with my daily requests and always with a smile and made me fee welcomed and at home. Finally, Juan, who has also been working here for a number of years, Juan was always there for my requests and followed them up carefully. Housekeeping was prompt and spotless. All my preferences were passed on to various housekeeping personnel, so that I never had to request anything. ANGEL, a long time member of this hotel’s wonderful staff, although was on vacation, went out of his way to ensure that I had a great stay. Such attitude is Really, what makes this property great besides its location, is the wonderful staff it has been blessed with. Thank You ALL very much again. We will be coming back To Mercure Plaza de España.

I would like to share my extremely pleasant stay at the Mercure Madrid Plaza de Espana during my stay from 02 -06 July. From the moment we arrived, Andrea who was at the reception, greeted us warmly and with enhusiam. The rest of the staff with whom I had contact were also extremely kind and went out of their way to assure that my stay was pleasureable. Juan, Lorenzo, Noemi and the others whose name I did not get, Thank you. The room was well appointed and the location was perfect for getting around both by foot or with public transport. The metro Plaza Espana is close and there are many buses only a 2 min walk away. I am already looking forward to my next trip to Madrid and staying at the Mercure Madrid Plaza de Espana. Thanks for making my days in Madrid. P
