Best things about the Hotel are
The Staff
The Location
The Pool/bar
The Hotel is Victorian its well dated interior is dark due to the dark wood panelling and lack of modern lighting.
Beds are comfy rooms are also dark with painted brown walls ( our room was ) . The Hotel has 2 vending machines in the foyer containing snacks water etc and a tea coffee machine, The hotels city location gives guests easy access to local bars and restaurants also if your want to see the apes and ride the cable car the mini busses and trip organiser are 50 yards from the hotel.
Taxi from the airport cost us £13.50
I wouldn't pre book costs more.

Stayed for a weekend; this hotel is well located near the centre of the old town. Check in was quick and easy and the staff friendly. There is a pleasant bar / pool area located across the road next to the Gibraltar Museum, with very reasonably priced drinks. The hotel has a mid-century ambiance with lots of wood panelling; however the room itself was perhaps a little too old fashioned and worn in places. The bed was fairly comfortable and the WIFI worked well, although the shower was a little weak. Although the room had aircon, this was a separate unit and was rather noisy; too noisy to have turned on whilst sleeping, luckily it wasn’t needed during the stay.

Overall the hotel offered very good value for money when compared to the other hotels in Gibraltar, especially given the central location. Recommended provided you are prepared for a little shabbiness, if you are after a smart modern hotel then look elsewhere.

Alright it’s dated but it’s all part of the charm, like going back in time. The location of the hotel is really great with the shops bars and restaurants nearby. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The swimming pool and bar are good with bar prices cheaper than other hotels in the area ( that’s why there were residents of the nearby Elliott hotel drinking at the Bristol). The rooms although dated are clean and we slept well in the beds. All in all a great stay for National Day and will be returning.

Came to this hotel for a long weekend break with my mum. It was fantastically located and only £12 in taxi from airport (we got the bus back the following way from Commonwealth Park - literally right out of the hotel and it was £2.80 for us both - recommend this).

The hotel is centrally located to shops and restaurants and only a 40 minute walk to the beautiful Catalan Bay.

Our hotel room was spacious and well looked after - although a little dated. We had a twin room with second front room and television.

The pool area was lovely and reasonably priced drinks from the bar. Our only complaint was that, on our third day, a different lady served us drinks. Despite a menu with prices, she overcharged us twice and on one occasion (despite us showing her the price list), still overcharged us - couldn’t be bothered to argue but bit of a dampener. She also spent most of her time smoking by the pool, despite signage saying ‘no smoking’. Our only gripe though so can’t complain!

We had breakfast each morning and, although basic, staff kept it topped up and were extremely polite and smiley.

The reception staff were also helpful in aiding us find things we didn’t know how to get to.

All in all. A fantastic little break in a fantastic little hotel!

Beyond the retro decor I had a comfortable stay and was given superb assistance by all staff when I was given a free upgrade due to my disability especially all the breakfast waitresses, management and receptionists mainly a gentleman called Sam who went above and beyond the call of duty helping me with various difficulties.
The bar and pool area were comfortable and accommodating and drinks were at affordable prices. I loved the Bristol Hotel and its service so I will be returning again.
Thank you to all the staff and management at the Bristol Hotel.

This place is badly in need of refurbishing, dark brown wood everywhere, and i mean everywhere, every wall and corridor, floor to ceiling is darl brown wood, very dark and ominous. Once again a room in a hot climate with no air conditioning. We paid £25 extra for an "exterior" room, that meant we got window that opens onto the exterior of the hotel, absolutely nothing special at all!! The room had a cooling unit that was woefully inadequate and didn't cool anything at all. They had tried to up-grade the bathrooms with waterproof panelling but whoever fitted it should be shot as it was a shoddy job with poor cuts that are a breeding ground for germs. The staff were all lovely and very helpful and the reception foyer is beautiful with some nice period furniture. If you are lucky enough find a parking space right outside the hotel, they will I've you a permit, if not - good luck! If they spend some money on this place it has the potential to be really nice. It did have a really nice pool which we enjoyed.

Beautiful building, but very tired interior , some rooms not thought out, we couldn't get into our wardrobe as the beds were too close ,could do without the large settee , which would free up some space.
Bath plug holes rusty, and awful marble effect cladding which was poorly fitted, flooring appalling and not very clean. And a very tight space between the bath wall and sink
Bedding and towels were fresh and clean
No coffee making facilities in rooms, small fridge which barely kept things cold, mit do much as a welcome bottle of water in the room
Breakfast was very basic, ham, cheese and hard boiled eggs, 3 cereal choices, toast, jam, marmite and yogurt, no alternative milks so we went to Morrisons and bought our own oat milk
Would be nice to have some fresh tomatoes and fruit
Although staff friendly, struggled to get advice on buses, cabke car, taxis etc, ended up googling for info
Pool was nice, bar man very good

Avoid: Don't be fooled this is a 1 star hotel.

This is a Boarding house/ Hotel you would expect to find in Blackpool, northern England in the 1970's including the carpet.
Other than the location, there are no redeeming features.

There are more stairs to traverse, once you get out the lift on Level 1, good luck if you have heavy/allot of luggage or elderly.

The room was very small, terrible furniture, the cooling, mobile air con is so loud you cannot sleep with it on.

The bathroom is very small, again absolutely basic.
They have not invested in the hotel for decades?
I would avoid, I am sure there are better options, its not cheap either, for what you get.....

... that provides a good base for exploring Gibraltar.

The hotel is probably best described as being in a traditional colonial style. Look at the photos if you want to know what to expect. Yes, there's a lot of dark wood, rather than light and bright laminate, but that's part of the hotel's charm.

I booked an interior single room, but was given one with an exterior view. The room was compact but provided all that was needed: including flat screen TV, fridge, air con, music player. Generally all in good condition, with nothing to complain about.

All the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel only provides breakfast (although there are some vending machines for snacks and drinks). Breakfast is basic continental, but quite sufficient for a short stay. It's taken in the adjacent building, where the bar and the pool are located. The pool is small, but the area provides a pleasant place to relax.

I would certainly consider returning to the Bristol, if I'm in Gibraltar again, as it represents good value.

Apart from it's ideal central location and the quality of the housekeeping staff, I am unable to think of anything else to complement the hotel on.
The hotel is in need of an urgent refurbishment.Certain members of the reception staff lack customer care skills.
There are no tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms and the vending machine in the reception area was out of order, for our entire stay and according to one staff member, for a lot longer.
Room was small, curtains did not close properly and had holes in them.
No hotel information, apart from telephone charges, or tourist information in rooms.
Bathroom small and no grab failed assisting entering and exiting the shower, nor was there a slip may (we had to request one) making showing a slip hazard.
Hotel is in a time warp with regard to decor, fixtures, fittings and furnitur.

The Bristol hotel is quite central so The Mad Monk (Angry Friar) or The Donkeys Flip Flop (Horseshoe) hope that helps
