The location of this hotel could not be better with views of the beautiful cathedral and within walking distance to many other attractions that Burgos holds. The food at breakfast and in the evening was wonderful. We travel through Spain several times a year and this is our preferred hotel.

We had a lovely overnight stay in this beautiful hotel. The location could not be better. It is close to many of the sites to see together with lots of restaurants just over the river (2-3 minute walk).

Nice hotel to rest if you visit Burgos. It very close to the city centre. The staff is very friendly and the breakfast is pretty good. The room was very comfortabable and the bed, too. Everything was very clean.

My name is Jordi A. and I have enjoyed this terrific hotel for 4 days. If you have decided to visit Burgos I heartly recommend you this hotel. The staff is very friendly, polite and professional and I don´t forget the waiters and waitresses that say a sweet good morning when you enter to the breakfast room. They behaved very well with me and one them offered me very friendly a cup of chocolate with " churros ". The room was perfect, neither big nor small. The bed was big and comfortable and there wasn´t a noise that could disturb my sweet dreams. I don´t know if I will come back to Burgos but if I go I will pretty sure choose NH Collection Palacio de Burgos again. I wanted to write this review in Catalan, my mother tongue language, but I have seen that it is impossible with Trip Advisor so I have decide to write it in English.

The hotel is located in a renovated historic building, which of course created some design challenges. One major issue is that many of the rooms have sloping ceilings, with a small window set into the sloped roof. It’s as if you were in an attic room, with little natural light and a significant amount of floor space lost to the sloped roof. That wouldn’t be an issue if the hotel told you that many of their “Superior” rooms had this issue. Instead, they market Superior rooms as large, spacious rooms with regular ceilings and several large windows. To add insult to injury, they email you before your trip, asking you to go through a process of checking in early and selecting your individual room. Of course, when we arrived, the Superior room in the photo was not the one we received, but instead a poor substitute.

We always stay at this hotel on our trip back to Holland from the south of Spain. it is in the middle of the town and has all the luxury we like. Rooms are clean and "huge", and you have the choice yes /no dinner in hotel or town.

I am usually very careful at chosing hotels (see my other reviews). Therefore I am very rarely obliged to rate poorly. For this reason and for the sake of fareness I will provide some context to this review to explain why I am just giving the "poor" rating based on my recent experience: Lately I have been in need to sit some official exams in Burgos. On my earlier sitting, I already visited this hotel in April this year. I selected this hotel based on the understanding that this is the best property in the city (I had some doubts with regards to the AC hotel). Do notice that there is to my knowledge no 5 star hotel in Burgos, so this should be as premium as it gets. I must also point out that normally (before the current "situation" at least), I am a loyal customer of the NH Collection brand, and I often have had very good experiences in their hotels. When I was there in April, it was in the midst of a major wave of the ongoing pandemic to the point where I actually needed certificates to prove that I had to sit an exam in order to be allowed to travel through Spain (in case I was stopped by the police). The situation in April was consequently tough throughout Spain. So when I was there in April, I did expect significant restrictions and in fact the bar in the lobby was closed. Restaurants through the city were either closed, or only served dinner until 10pm-ish. As I was going there for exams my intention was to remain in the room as much as possible for revision, so I ordered room service which was delivered promptly to my room (and it was quite good in fact). Also I had an early breakfast at 7 so that I could go early to the venue of my exams. So overall the experience in April was quite good and met my expectations taking into account the situation back then. Now fast forward to August, where I had a second module of exams to pass in Burgos. Currently the pandemic situation in Spain is much better. There are very few restrictions and restaurants are mostly open until late at night (including in Burgos). Based on my original exeperience I decided to book again this hotel, assuming that again I could do some intensive revision in the room, order room service, have a quick dinner, and then an early breakfast to be early at the exam venue. Unfortunately things didn't go as planned. The moment I checked in I was told that breakfast was from 8 to 11, and that I had to book a 30 minute slot (!!!). The reason given for the late breakfast was because it was summer (so people cannot go to the hotel for business in summer?), and the slots were due the pandemic. Now remeber I was there in a worst moment of the pandemic and none of this had happened. I reluctantly booked the earliest possible 8am slot and headed for my room. On my previous visit I had gotten a very large interior room, which was great because I didn't need views, I needed silence and space to study. This time I got a small, badly lit room on the fourth floor. As a single window it had a high skylight (pointless). Just like on the previous visit the furniture and design of the room looked outdated, very 90's in need of a refurbishment (I believe other reviewers have already noticed). On the first evening due to my intentions to stay in the room studying, I called the reception to try and order room service (like I had done in April). I was very surprised to be told by the lady in the reception that "due to the pandemic" there was no room service. I was in no mood to argue, but I did tell her how absurd it was that I had been able to order room service just 4 months before. The only answer I got was "you can order food from outside and have it delivered at the hotel". Seriously??? So in conclusion, now that most restaurants in Burgos are open until late. We have a 4 star hotel, of a supposedly premium brand, which has no bar -where literally you cannot get a coffee at 4pm-, no ammenities in the room whatsover (e.g. no coffee machine, no magazines, NOTHING), and where the front desk is directing you to order delivery if you want something which resembles room service. Very disappointing, very non-premium. So in the end, I had to order delivery (Glovo) to the door of the hotel, in order to have dinner. Now it is worth mentioning that the hotel restaurant is open for dinner, but this is no place for a fast casual meal, as was my intention. From what I saw, it seems MANY othre guests had to do the same and order delivery. This should be a cause of shame to the NH Collection brand. It just cannot get less premium than this. Now back to the breakfast, on the two mornings I was there, because of my obligation, I was at the breakfast at 8.00 sharp. And I was lucky to be on time, because I observed that as time passes, a large cue is formed in order to be served breakfast: due to the pandemic, there is no real buffet, but staff to whom you order what you want and they put in on a plate for you. I have seen this in other hotels given the current situation, but I have never seen it as rushed as in this hotel. The problem is that you have tens of guests waiting to order and too few members of staff so the cues can be long (as many other reviewers have mentioned). It is obviously not the staff's fault, but they are clearly under tension and nervous, because of the pressure to serve fast, and the language barriers don't help either, so I did witness some tense scenes. Again, not a premium experience. Speaking to other fellow travellers, it seems this breakfast process has been deployed throughout the NH brand with the same bad results. So in conclusions, 2 days spent in this hotel, with very disappointing service (hardly no service whatsoever) though having to pay 4* price. My feeling is the pandemic cannot be used as an excuse for all the shortcomings. The NH Collection brand and this hotel should honestly consider the level of service they are offering, and potentially manage customer's expectations before booking. At least until they decide to reasses the service offering during the current situation.

Below average.only one side table . Breakfast slow or no service. Lack of staff. Totally different experience to our July visit. Will not be staying there again. Other hotels available in Burgos. Strange I have to write at least 200 words. Survey not good.

1. We could not sleep well at night because there is a lot of noise when people and cars pass on the street during the night and early morning, because the windows do not seal well. 2. There is not enough light in the room and above all, the cable of the hair dryer caused a short circuit, had some sparks, which gave us a great scare, and consequently the room was left without light because the fuses were burned out. They didn't offer me any apologies or anything, they didn't show any concern for the guest either. We were left badly asleep and annoyed with the Hotel, since we could not take advantage of the day as we wanted due to lack of sleep. 3. In the assisted breakfast the waitress was in a bad mood, she did everything with annoyance, we did not want to bother her a second time when we wanted to ask for other things, we preferred to stay a little hungry. This NH Collection definitely does not measure up to any other we have stayed at in the past, I would not go back.

This place is a joke. It is empty but we got interior patio views. Our luggage was delivered but we had to bring it up to the room ourselves. We have recently been to three and two star hotels where our luggage was delivered to our room. This is apparently a four star hotel. There is no lunch or room service. The phone to call the front desk doesn’t work and there is no laundry bag. In summary, avoid it.
