Whilst this hotel is in a really good place for the main area of Burgos, the noise from the never ending crossing lights spoilt the stay. I think it may have stopped at around midnight and then started again first thing in the morning, it drove me mad and I could not sleep! OK if your deaf. The lift smelt awful, if that was meant to make it smell nice ...it didn't, it mad me feel sick! Clean, basic, why do hotels NOT have a toilet brush is beyond me. Lovely girl on the desk, very friendly, cheeful, we arrived in the evening having booked on line whilst travelling, problem with being in a van as parking was not available for something taller than a car, so had to park a ten minute walk away.
The hotel Via Gotica was exceptional. The location of the hotel is excellent. It is on the cycle-path into and out of Burgos. It is at the Bridge of Santa Maria, across which is the cathedral. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My bike was kept in the basement overnight. The room I stayed in was cosy. It overlooked the Bridge of Santa Maria. The bed was comfortable. The shower was good. Breakfast was good. I had no complaints.
I stayed in Burgos at the Vía Gótica Hotel situated across from the Arco de Santa María. Only five minutes away from the Cathedral, its location is perfect for the traveler to this city. Monuments are not far, and the center of town is across the bridge. The wonderful Paseo along the river is equally lovely. From my window, I could see historic Burgos everyday. The hotel, while small, has all the needed comforts, including an in-room safe to secure your possessions, television, and Wifi. My room was comfortable and well appointed. The bathroom has modern fixtures with a superb shower. The bedding was comfortable and commodious. There is a small café on the ground floor. The hotel offers breakfast service. I found the breakfast delightful. The selection of breads and pastries was complemented by eggs and sausage, cheeses, and bacon. It provided a filling breakfast before heading out to visit the sites. While it was on a main street, the noise level was minimal. The location was convenient to the monuments and museums. There are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. The hotel café was also a plus. All in all, the hotel is a great jump point for exploring the city, and the facilities provided excellent accommodations and comfort. A definite location to return to next time.…
I was fortunate enough to get the spacious penthouse room which had a jacuzzi/spa bath, which was just so relaxing after a busy day of sightseeing. Moreover, from its window, you get a specular view of both the Arco de Santa Maria and cathedral. FInally, it is conveniently located just a 5 minute walk from the bus station where the Museo de Burgos is also found. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
we enjoyed our time in burgos and the hotel is very central to everything ,there is plenty of resturants to choose from within 100 metres and a beautiful area around the catheral for site seeing ,also the central bus station is just around the corner for when you are moving on to next place
