I'm giving it only 3 stars. It is a fairly plain hotel: the room was ok, dated. Breakfast was reasonable. The main problem was the check-in which just took ages. The clerk was friendly, pleasant. It was just slow. And the procedure for storing bikes was a nightmare. They had to go into a cage in the underground carpark and the entire process was incredible cumbersome. The lifts were achingly slow. It was sometimes quicker to use the stairs. The list for restaurants in the room was out-of-date - several were shut (meaning they were no longer operating).

It is very comfortable hotel with big rooms. Very clean rooms and bathrooms. They have nice bar with wide choice of drinks. Staff was very efficient and polite. They have some problems with English. WiFi worked fine and was free. Location is very safe, you can park safe on street or in underground garage. Breakfast was good with many dishes. Good for vegetarians but i think not for vegans. Hotel is dog friendly. Prices are very good. Only problem for me was smell of cigarettes in bathroom.

Magdeburg is under a huge construction project that will last till 2020. A normal 10 minute walk from the train station is currently a 15-minute ride by taxi! That being said, this hotel on a quiet street was comfortable. It offers underground parking if you come by car. The breakfast buffet is no less than fabulous. There is a bar. Best of all: the staff! They were eager to accommodate each and every request, from making restaurant reservations on our behalf to serving breakfast early to enable us to leave in time to make an early appointment. There were 13 in our group. The hotel gave us terrific advance information through email. It is situated in a residential area of town and is hard to find on the upper floors of an office building, but go find this hotel. It's great!

There was a lot of noise from the street. We heard shooting at night and saw the police in the hotel. It was a traumatic experience to stay at the hotel. Urban areas near the hotel are slums. The people working in the hotel where very helpful.
