Spent a couple of days here en route to Germany. Super friendly staff. English speaking reception staff. Adrian was extremely helpful. Very comfortable room. A lovely walk into Koblenz along the Mosel. Also has a super Biergarten.
We tried it again - and had the same uncharming reception we had in 2016: "...Well, after a hundred complaints of our princess for one day attendants, we avoid this hotel for some years. Now, they told us everything had changed. True. It became worse. In my life, I have never seen any such service. I got myself a Latte Macciaccto, and 20 of our workshop attendants wanted to get one too - the servant said "go to the bar and get it, I am not your servant". Bye bye Contel, we will not miss you...." That aside, we were brutally overcharged. They even used my credit card without my permission. This is one of the few hotels we had our event in where the best recommendation I can give is "please do not go". Not for a meal, not for a night - and sure not for any kind of event.
Not the 4* i was expecting, more 3*. generally the decor is unusual and outdated but i guess that is a matter of taste. rooms are small and basic but have most amenities needed. the main issue is that the rooms are stifling hot, even with a fan on it was very uncomfortable, not something you expect for a four star hotel.
This hotel is fantastic. With handicapped accessible rooms, a good restaurant, a great location, and a wonderful beer garden, you can't go wrong with a stay at this well run, fabulous hotel. The breakfast buffet was super tasty, and most importantly, the staff was always friendly and welcoming. I will absolutely return. The team at The Contel Hotel take the worry, and risk, out of travel for handicapped travelers like me. Wonderful, indeed!
If you follow my reviews this will was the first stop on a week around Europe with my son. We go to a European football stadium for a game every year, so we stopped at Koblenz on the way down to Munich. This place is a bit away from The city but we were pleasantly surprised. The twin room was pretty large, with a mini kitchen area, separate lounge and very large bathroom. The restaurant was really good too, excellent food!
Great place in Koblenz! Close to the Canyon.Home which is where we was a lot of the time. About 20 minutes to walk to the center of town. Very nice breakfast and restaurant with great staff. Not a the most modern place, but it’s clean and well preserved. Would absolutely come back, but because we are connected to Canyon, if I was just looking for shopping and sightseeing, I would pick someplace else.
Stayed here for a second time on business. It is a funky looking, fun hotel. The rooms are dated but still clean and get the job done. There is not air conditioning, luckily i have not stayed here when it has been too hot. The hotel also has a nice bar area and beer garden. It is about a mile walk to restaurants and shops in Koblenz but a nice walk along the river. I would stay here again when in Koblenz.
The hotel is a bit remote from the centre. It takes 20-30 mins by walk and no public transportation next to the hotel. It’s super convenience if you are traveling on self drive. The parking is free and not expensive in town. It’s €0.5 per 20mins stop in town generally. Beware that some of the parking lot at street is not allowed for non resident even though you have paid the parking ticket. It looks like the hotel has just completed a newly renovation that makes the hotel looks good throughly. Room size is big enough for a couple. Every pinpoint is managed well and tidy. Good valuation indeed. We would like to send our appreciation to all the friendly hotel staff especially the lady manager who help us a lot to solve the problem of the parking fine ticket that we received but totally not understand (it’s German). You may easy get all helpful information from the stall without any hesitation. Super...............…
We stayed here for our time on the Rhine. While it is further out of the downtown area, it offered a unique experience with its eclectic decorating style and quiet ambiance. Parking was easy and free. The restaurant was very good, we ended up eating there both nights and were not disappointed. Breakfast was also great and had a large variety. The bar and Biergarten out back provided a great atmosphere. We needed our tickets printed for our river boat tour and the receptionist was more than happy to accommodate us. Highly recommend and would stay there again!
Eclectic, funky 70s/South Beach vibe. Quiet neighborhood. Ample parking. More than accomodating restaurant and bar and a nice biergarten out back. Nice little hidden gem. If you are going to be in Koblenz, stay here....
