The location of the hotel is great, it is next to the boulevard. From there on you can go to the cable Bahn to take a ride to the castel. The breakfast had many choices and there was a lot of opportunity for every one to site down. The room and bathroom were great. The staff was friendly.

For my girlfriend's birthday, we planned a weekend trip to Germany. The first day (23/07/2022), we visited Euskirchen Thermen Spa. On the second day (24/07/2022), we would visit the city of Koblenz. We chose the "Mercure Hotel Koblenz" as our stay for the night. Upon arrival (at midnight - 00:10 - 23/07/2022, as we let the hotel know beforehand), we checked in and received a room on the 5th floor. Once inside the room, there was our first disappointment. I asked the hotel beforehand to decorate the room/place as a surprise with a budget of €20. Although the hotel acknowledged this days before, the room was completely empty, with no decoration or surprise. As a bonus, I also asked the hotel to make sure the room was heated up to temperature upon our arrival. Sadly, the room was chillingly cold. Also, the smell of the room was not pleasant; it felt like the room hadn't been used in weeks. After a short time of unpacking, my girlfriend (who is highly allergic to certain insect bites) noticed 3 spiders sitting in the corner of the room. When I looked closer, there were not 3, but an entire nest of spiders sitting above the curtains, on the wall, and even settled inside the curtain rails. This made me inspect the room further, revealing a second spider nest above the curtains on the opposite wall and also one coming out of the AC vent. After this discovery, we packed our bags and went to the reception to ask for a new and clean room. The person sitting at the reception quickly let us know that there were no other rooms left and that he could do nothing to help us. I explained to him that I would not pay €157 for a night in an insect-infected room, pointing out that my girlfriend is highly allergic to certain insect bites. The person kept on denying that he could help us, leaving us stranded right there at the reception. After a heated discussion of at least 15 minutes, the person at the reception suddenly DID have another room, on the 3rd floor. I told him I would go look inside the room before changing our reservation to that room. Once inside the room on the 3rd floor (which was very cold as well), I very quickly saw even larger spiders, in the same spot, in even greater quantities. truly disgusting. We went back to the reception where we had to wait 20 minutes until the person came back out of nowhere. I told him the second room was even worse and that I demanded a solution right there at that time. He told us there was nothing he could do. We asked to get the room cleaned. He denied it. We asked him to contact other hotels to get us transferred; he denied it. I told him we were 360km away from home (Belgium) and that it was the middle of the night but he couldn't be bothered. I demanded he make a paper saying that we would not stay in the hotel and that we would not be charged anything for the night, plus granting us free exit from the underground parking garage. This was the only thing he did for us this night. This person was very rude, clearly had no social skills, no empathy and no experience running a hotel. And so we left the hotel. At this point, it was 1:30 in the night. Know that we were already awake from 7:00 that morning. We called EVERY hotel in Koblenz, but nobody could give us a room. So that was the moment we realised we had to drive 360km back to Belgium, tired and in the middle of the night. This is deadly dangerous to do, but it was going back home or to sleep in the car. All this on my girlfriend's birthday. On the way home, we called other hotels we passed (Frankfurt, Aachen, Euskirchen, ...) but nobody could give us a room. We arrived home at 6:30 in the morning, after many RedBull stops at gas stations. This was a true nightmare for us. I am writing this letter 2 days later and I am still tired and devastated from this night.

Friendly staff. Nice rooms Location is close to the river Rhine. Absolutly nice view. Restaurant was closed during my visit. But I could order at the bar something to eat. I would recommend to add some dishes more than one that was available.

First of all I thought I was staying in a hotel but upon the second night a rat went running across the corridor and rat droppings were not far behind. Francis on reception was very unfriendly and rude. Chicken for dinner was pink. The smell of lies off of Francis was smellier than the rat droppings. Very disappointed will not be returning to experience Francis or her shenanigans again.

Dear Pepsin, Thanks for your feedback - you may have mixed up the hotel with another one, as we don't have chicken on the menu card. Also an employee Francis does not work in our hotel. Also, our employees or guests have never seen a rat in our house. Kind regards!

As a hotel I would give it 5 stars, but the restaurant/bar brings it down a bit. We had a very good room on the 8th floor, with a beautiful view. A big, comfortable bed (but the pillows are not firm enough) an inroom safe, a refrigerator and a bathroom with a good walk in shower. All very clean and pleasant. Check in was professional and friendly. The parking garage was quite full when we arrived, but we did find a place on the lowest level (-6). Maybe its better to park on one of the higher floors, because the morning we left, we saw that people must have spent time partying/drinking on this level in the night. The partition door was closed and there were a lot of empty bottles left behind scattered on the floor. The staff behind reception were all friendly, but the staff in the bar area could be indifferent. We had 2 meals here, the first night we both had a salad, which was good, but the cooked meals the next night were both so greasy that we couldn't eat it. Breakfast would be good if there was no Covid scare. Butter, cereal, yoghurt, marmelade etc. were in bowls. So you have to scoop a portion out with spoons that dozens of people used before you. All other hotels we stayed in have these things individual wrapt, which seems wise under the circumstances at the moment. Having said that, we would definitely stay here again. As a hotel it is one of our favourites.

Koblenz does not seem to have many hotels offering parking facilities. The Mercure hotel does and it was greatly appreciated (13 euros/day). The location along the Rhine is idyllic, and the 10-15 minute walking distance to the cable car is definitely manageable. The staff is super helpful, and super cautious with respect to Covid safety. We were requested to present proof of our vaccination. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable, the view on the fortress stunning. A perfect getaway I suppose if one wishes to visit Koblenz during the Xmas period.

This hotel has taken the money of several customers over the last few days. Not allowing unaware customers of the covid test required to check in. They don’t refund anything. This hotel is a SCAM. The “manager” only limited to scream to us “it was an order” and didn’t give us any alternative. They left us without a room at 23 pm just took our money

The hotel is situated right on the river and has a terrace for some food and drink. The staff were very welcoming and the hotel has excellent hygiene and cleanliness procedures for the Corona pandemic. The internet was easy to use and adequate. An enjoyable stay in these difficult times.

The location is perfect, just 5 mts walk to all hotspot and have an onsite parking, but the room really outdated, clean tough but too dark. The bathroom also clean and fully equipped, but pricewise, it could be a bit more modernized, especially when people smoke outside, you can smell it when you are in the lobby area, i am not really used the other facility as we are staying here only for a night.
