TRIP ADVISOR On 9 April 2022 while on a Viking cruise my wife had a serious accident during a walking tour of Cochem, Germany. She was sent to a hospital in Koblenz, Germany by helicopter and had emergency surgery that night to relieve pressure on her brain caused by bleeding. I got back to Koblenz later that afternoon via a 45+ minute taxi ride and was able to get to the hospital before her surgery. The next day, 10 April, I had to pack all our luggage and remove it from the Viking boat because it was leaving the next morning at 7 am. Then I had to find a hotel near the hospital and move our luggage to it. I was extremely fortunate to choose the Hotel Hohenstaufen. The people at the hotel constantly helped us with whatever we needed. It also had an excellent restaurant, The Mondrian, whose Chef, Martin, also went out of his way to help us. We had to extend our stay at the hotel five times while waiting for our travel insurance company to make arrangements for us to fly back to the U.S. The hotel staff worked with us each time to ensure we kept the same room and did not have to move. The hotel was spotlessly clean and close to the main train station as well as the hospital. There were a number of very good restaurants and a Gelateria in the area which made it a comfortable place to be while we waited for arrangements to be made to get us home. Even though we spent a lot of time in our room hoping to hear some positive news from our insurance company, the hotel staff graciously worked around us and made sure we had whatever we needed to be comfortable. If you plan to visit Koblenz I would strongly encourage you to consider staying at the Hotel Hohenstaufen. Dan Hope

If you want to arrive, shower and sleep it’s fine and close to railway station. It’s a basic business type hotel. Breakfast was very poor- greeted by grumpy server without a smile asking for room number. Coffee was luke warm and tasteless , fruit salad was fermenting and fizzy , boiled eggs solid . All unacceptable today and needs a shake up

Nicely situated, close to both railway station and parking house (15€/24h) and quiet. The promised “Five minutes” walk to the Altstad is a bit optimistic. 25 minutes walk all the way to Deutsches Eck, through Altstadt. Acceptable breakfast and quite new rooms, but be aware that there are no air conditioning. Good value for Money.

This hotel is in convenient and nice location. The staff are great: very polite, helpful and responsive. I would stay here again and recommend staying here for others. There is no hotel parking, but there is generally street parking available free at night, small fee during day. For those with mobility issues might contact hotel ahead of time to see if you can get help unloading and getting your luggage to the hotel.

Modern and comfortable, decent enough location and breakfast was maybe not the whole full shebang buffet, but plentiful enough that I can't find anything to complain about. Friendly, helpful staff and no complaints to think of.

Don't be put off this hotel by the fact that it at the railway station. The area is not at all unsafe or unfriendly. This is in fact a great place to start a visit to Koblenz, especially if you are traveling by train. The hotel staff are very friendly, the hotel itself feel very fresh and clean. The rooms are basic but more then adequate for a short stay. The important thing is the room was very clean. I didn't have breakfast in the hotel so I can give no opinion here. WiFi worked for the most part without any problem, and was relatively fast. The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the old town, most of this is on a shopping street. All in all, a good place for a few nights in a nice city.

A modern hotel with the best location for travelling by train or bus as the station is very close, on the opposite side of the square. The room and bathroom were nice and confortable. I didn't have breakfast, but saw the buffet and looked very good. Overall is a good choice for Koblenz if being close to the train station is a need as the city centre is a good 20 minute walk away.

We chose Hotel Hohenstaufen for a one-night layover on our way to Bruges, and it was a delightful surprise. We don’t usually stay near train stations as they are not the best neighborhoods, but Koblenz is quite different. When you exit the train station, go left past the hotel on the corner, and head towards the yellow facade. This is Hotel Hohenstaufen. It is clean and modern with professional staff and efficient rooms. Our bathroom had a shower stall with a glass door and a blue ceiling light that made the water neon blue. After a long day of train delays, I found the shower a soothing “spa moment”. Later, we went to the hotel restaurant, and was once again, impressed with the modern decor, friendly waitstaff and delicious food of fresh local ingredients. If you are traveling in this region, consider a stop here. It is definitely a good value.

Good hotel for a base for exploring the town. It is On a quiet street near the station and about 10-15 mins walk from the old town and peninsula. The Hotel room is clean and modern. It is functional but not one with particular character. Our room is spacious and the bathroom is good. They have soap and shower gel.

We stayed here one night while exploring Koblenz. I was looking for a place close to the train station since we were taking an early train out in the morning. It's literally a 1 minute walk to the train station from this hotel. Very easy to find. There are a couple good restaurants within 1 minute walk. It's also difficult to find a hotel room that will sleep 4 people (2 adults / 2 kids). This hotel had a room with 4 twin beds. This was the reason for picking this hotel. The room was very clean and the hotel staff were very friendly. The nighttime front desk clerk was unable to help me print a boarding pass, but the bartender spent 20 minutes helping me get it printed. They were very accommodating. The only downside is there was no AC and we were hot. We had the windows open, but it was noisy with them open being so close to the train station.
