The Radisson Blu Hotel is one of the most exciting hotels in Berlin-Mitte. It is located in the historic centre directly on the bank of the river Spree and opposite to the Berlin Cathedral. Just a strolls away are restaurants, bars, boutiques, galleries and famous sights, such as Alexanderplatz, Museum Island, Boulevard Unter den Linden and the exclusive shops along Friedrichstrasse. Public transport, Berlin airport and the Messe Berlin fairground are within easy reach. A unique attraction is the AquaDom at the hotel lobby. It is the world’s largest cylindrical aquarium with a fascinating underwater world in one million litres of salt-water. 427 non-smoking guest rooms and suites combine timeless elegance with cutting edge comfort. The clear design in the puristic style reflects urban trends. The dark wood and warm tones of the high-class furniture create a homely atmosphere. All rooms are equipped with flat screen TV, trouser press, laptop-size safe, air-conditioning, minibar, tea and coffee provisions. Wireless-LAN and high-speed Internet access is included in the room rate.

Neighbourhood
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.

It was unforgettable because this was the first hotel we stayed in that my son really loves. On our second day of stay, he was already asking us if we can live in the hotel forever (his reason of staying: swimming pool) :-) The highlights...More

This hotel is in an excellent position. We got the train from the airport (around 3 euros each), only 5-10 minute walk from the station. The lobby is very impressive - light, bright and modern and of course the show stopper - the huge indoor...More

Comfortable central hotel. Helpful staff, especially the concierge desk. Interesting aquarium above the check in! Elevators were a bit slow. Restaurant was average. Food ok, service ok. Lacked ambience.

Me and my business partner went on a business trip and stayed in hotel. After the check out we went for a lunch and I came back to lobby where I laid down on a couch since I was not feeling well and closed my eyes on a remote couch for a few moments since I was a bit tired and was not feeling well. I thought it was because of the food I have just eaten in nearby restaurant. Then a bartender, (that already behaved arrogant on the day of our arrival, when he was explaining to us, that in an empty bar we can not order and have to wait and rather enjoy the view of the fish tank-very rude and arrogant way) came to me and started explaining to me that I can not lay down on a couch and that he will throw me out of hotel and explaining me that I can not rest in hotel lobby. He then even grabbed my suitcase, and at this moment I stood up and then we called each other an "Idiot" which even let to some harsher words and threats. Further more, there were even bartenders street friends present there and looking at me in a way that i felt threatened. They badmouthed me loudly in their language ( i think it was Romanian or Bulgarian) and were giving me the unpleasant looks and signals so I moved from the remote couch to the centre of hotel bar since I was not feeling safe and a fight or physical violence could easily occur in a remote area of the bar since it was not crowded there. That is why i moved to the centre of the bar since I wanted to be surrounded with people to prevent any public incident. I must say that I have never ever in my life been treated that way and threatened in a hotel, not only in 5 star hotel but in any kind of hotel. THIS IS TOTALLY NOT ACCEPTABLE. The bartender then called some sort of manager, that does not even speak English and he needed to call another person in order for them to speak with me in English language. I find it quite unusual that 5 star hotel does not have an English speaking "manager". After interference of that translator, which also apologised for the behaviour of bartender, I was offered a free ride to the airpot and explained that I will be sent an email from customer care manager. The taxi ride offer was merely the first nice gesture in hotel and I must say that that female translator is the bright factor of this dispute. After being offered a taxi ride, the street friends of that bartender left the exact same moment and followed us to the door, so we even wanted to wait for them to pass. Luckily there was a policeman in front of hotel and then they left. We went to taxi and drove directly to the airport. I must say that for the whole ride with taxi i was feeling afraid that I am being followed. I must also say that personnel working in hotel is in general very rude and bad vibe can be felt sitting in a bar since they all argue with one another. The bartenders are in constant conflict and disputes with one another so it actually damages the good atmosphere in the lobby of the hotel. Hospitality level of hotel is therefore really low. Employees( not all of them) act as a bad managed horde and experience they give to a guest is terrible. I have handled this case to German lawyer since I demand legal satisfaction for mental pain incurred and furthermore for the incurred fear of getting beaten during our stay. It also reflected my business relation with a business partner, I was visiting with. I am expecting to receive some proposal how to solve this situation since I can not withstand such a rude degradation and behaviour. I do believe that this hotel should be also stripped of a star or 2 since rooms needs a lot of renovation and furthermore: I believed that Radisson blu represents a premium quality in hospitality business. Having hotels like this in your chain really puts a bad reflection. Such hotels with such personnel should not be members of Radisson. Best regards
