We went to Toulouse expecting to find a room quite easily, and once on location, I've been quite surprised to find out how busy Hotels get weekdays.
We ended up off Jean Jaures alleys as the sofitel was a bit too expensive for our budget and got in Hotel Riquet.
Ok, I have to admit the facade looked a bit dodgy, but it was very different indoor... Although it's a very old place, it still looks cosy and a massive plus is its staff, which happens to speak english fluently, the receptionist was really helpfull (and had quite a posh accent lol) his recommandations for restaurants, sightseeing, and especially wines were very accurate to say the least. You should try a restaurant called "elixir"; small, friendly and tasty!
We both felt looked after and that is very rare in french hotels, especially 2 star's. We litterally stuffed our faces at the breakast buffet, which was a really good value for about a fiver! They don't serve any eggs or bacon though... But it's still cool.
There are kids living there, probably the owners' but the place still remains quiet. On the minus side: no air con which was a bit tough at times as we went there last August!!
Prices are reasonable considering you're 10mn away from the capitol... We've had an executive room which was lovely and costed us only 65 quid.
We'll definitely get back there.

This gem of a hotel was an excellent find. After a long day of driving the helpful young man at the counter suggested a hot spa out the back. He also provided us with a walking map of Toulouse - which proved excellent. The room itself was beautifully appointed with doors opening onto a narrow verandah. The jacuzzi in the courtyard was wonderful. Large and with powerful jets. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Close to a range of eateries. Took staff recommendations on board and was not disappointed. Would stay here again.

Our first room was on the 4th floor and because we arrived late at night, we just stuck it out. It is tiny and I was disappointed. The next day, with a tiny bit of questioning on my part, we were offered a choice of two other rooms which were both far better for the marginal increase in price. We chose the junior suite and loved having all the space to spread out, reorganize and pack up for the trip back to the US.

When I arrived home, I realized I had lost a very special hat I'd bought. I called the places I'd been the last day and discovered that a large and busy restaurant had the hat. They were not readily able to deal with shipping it back and I was afraid it would "disappear."

So I called Hotel Riquet and asked if perhaps a staff member might be willing to walk several blocks and rescue my hat in return for some compensation for their time. In fact, the owner herself walked over for me the next morning and sent my hat by mail, charging my credit card. Wow! How's that for incredible service?!

The staff is super friendly and restaurant recommendations were excellent, particularly Jules. The location was very convenient for arriving by train and departing by the airport shuttle at the train station. We loved Toulouse and will be happy to return someday.

Shabby hotel, not at all up to 3 stars. I arrived at the beginning of the afternoon, there was a strong smell of bleach throughout the hall, it caught my attention. I went up to my room after getting the key. I understood...I turned around, having come face to face with cockroaches running happily on the carpet and wall of the hallway. I left the hotel, and of course no possibility of refund. This is unacceptable, they know they have pests in their home. TO FLEE.

Cockroaches in the bathroom...filthy!!! On top of that, shabby carpet, bedroom door that you spend 10 minutes trying to close because the latch is defective, only one electrical outlet in the entire room and it's the one for the lamp so you have to unplug the lamp to being able to charge my phone. I paid 50 euros a night to spend it with cockroaches. I am disgusted! I know that we are not in the high range of hotels in Toulouse (far from it) but the minimum level of hygiene should not be a question of standing. I have stayed in less star hotels/hostels whose hygiene was nevertheless impeccable. To the wise...

Shabby hotel, musty smell, sheets of questionable cleanliness and bathroom carpet, a pleasure.
I don't have much to add, the quality of the establishment is consistent with the price.
A positive point ? The 24-hour casino at the end of the street...

We made the mistake of choosing hotel Riquet for our one night stay in Toulouse for the Wales v Russia euro 2016 match. Having stayed in hotels across the globe I have never previously encountered the kind of customer service offered at this hotel. I can only assume that despite charging inflated prices they didn't feel that football fans are worthy of decent service or accommodation (incidentally I am a doctor and so a pretty respectable football fan).
When we arrived I enquired as to where I could park. I was aware I would be charged extra but I was told my a most unhelpful man on reception that there was no parking available and that I should park on the street and feed the meters every 2 hours (hardly practicable). When I complained that no where on the website did it say you needed to book parking instead of offering an apology he rudely snapped that they only have 5 spaces and it's not his fault 15 people brought cars.
We arrived at 2 (the stated check in time), yet no room was available until 2.45, again no apology offered.
Our booking confirmation from hotels.com clearly stated 2 adults, standard double room, free breakfast. A very rude woman (who I assume is a boss or owner) told me it would be 15 euros for breakfast as only one free breakfast was included in the booking despite the booking being for 2 adults. Nowhere on the booking does it say this. What an absolute joke - I've never heard of any such policy in any hotel! Even when challenged she was unapologetic and short. As you can imagine I was very angry before even arriving in our room, but when I saw the state of it I was astounded. €110 for a standard room and it was a disgrace. Tiny, almost impossible to walk past the end of the bed, worn bedding, stains on the ceiling, no air con (again despite the website stating climate control), hard lumpy beds and very noisy. (See attached pictures to get a feel of the standard of hotel). Given how rude the staff were at check in and their obvious lack of understanding of customer service I didn't bother complaining about the room, but have instead lodged a complaint with hotels.com and Expedia as I really feel they should not offer this hotel.
Toulouse is a lovely city that I would happily return to, but my advice to anyone would be to avoid hotel Riquet at all costs.

Sir, I am sorry that your stay in Toulouse have not you agreed. I understand that you have been apparently a result of problems in arriving at the hotel Riquet and I present apologies from the management. It is true that we did a promotion on the breakfasts offering a breakfast per room. Perhaps it was poorly explained on the website of the agency in line with which you have booked. I see it with them. If I can give you advice, you should know, since you are a frequent traveler, is to book directly with the hotel where you get off. This will give you the best rates, the best rooms and the best explanation. Going live on our website (hotelriquet.com) you would have 17% discount compared to the price offered on the online reservation center. We would have taken the time to speak with you, we would advise to reserve your parking space in advance, and perhaps choose a different range than the standard room. However, I see the staff and management why he has not been offered to change rooms.

We booked online and arrived not knowing quite what to expect, however we were in for a wonderful surprise. A quick walk from the train station, we were welcomed by friendly, knowledgeable and English speaking reception staff, who we found out later were the owners.

After our trans-Atlantic flight we were elated to find a comfortable bed, all the amenities, and a hair dryer in the room. As it turned out, that was the last hair dryer I was to see in France for the next two weeks.

The room was average in size, very clean, and we were welcomed at breakfast the next morning in a bright, breakfast room.

The friendliness of the staff, combined with the Hotel Riquet's location to the business district, to the train station, and close to the shuttle to the airport connection, made this hotel a highlight of our vacation.

After we finished our two week cruise on the Canal du Midi, we returned to the Hotel Riquet for our last night in France before we departed back to the States. It was just as good the second time.

It's not the fanciest hotel I've ever been in, but it is indeed staffed by the friendliest people. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a comfortable place to stay and don't need to stay in a prestigious location (for whatever reason that might be)

If ever in Toulouse, we will return. .. perhaps next year.

This is a FANTASTIC Hotel, the single rooms are VERY small but very clean, for a few more Euros you can get one of the larger rooms with AC, TV a great bathroom and every comfort you can think of. The location is great and it is walking distance from every spotlight in the city, great for tourism and great for resting. The owners are very kind and went out of their way all the time to satisfy my needs. Another great feature in this hotel is that you have FREE in room Wi-Fi. This is overall a fantastic hotel and I would definetly stay there again. Valerie- Thankyou for everything, my stay was fantastic.

I stayed at the hotel in March 2006 and had some problems. Although I have informed hotel staff about my late arrival, nobody was at the reception at midnight and they didn't leave my room key. So I had to stay at another hotel the fırst night in Toulouse. The next day I went to the hotel. As I prepaid the money to the travel agency, the hotel refused to refund it. The woman at the reception desk was rude and she said I should have ring the doorbell. But how could I have expected that an hotel had a doorbell and seen it late at night? I stayed at the hotel that night, but it was very unconfortable. I was bitten by bugs and itched for the whole stay.
