I had a very good short stay in the NYX, it was clean, comfortable, and the staff very helpful and obliging. The optional/additional Breakfast was spot on and well worth having, especially the coffee which was excellent. Okay, to be a bit picky the Room wasn’t that spacious, but adequate for a few days away break.
The 2 reception staff were very welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable about Perpignan. Both spoke good English and were patient with my poor French with a genuine desire to help. Very cheerful in a natural way. Breakfast could do with more variety especially cold meats and cheeses plus cereals. Fresh orange juice a plus and also fresh coffee. Location close to rail and bus stations and about 15 minute walk into the centre of the old part of the city. Perpignan a quiet city but with excellent restaurants.
My wife and I and another couple stayed in the Nyx Hotel on the recommendation of friends. They raved about the friendliness of the staff and the breakfast. We were therefore very disappointed to be told by the receptionist that breakfast was only served from 08.00. As we said we had to leave at 07.45 the receptionist again told us breakfast was not possible. We were then very annoyed and disappointed to discover that when we arrived downstairs tat 07.40 to wait for our taxi all the food was set out and, indeed, a man was eating breakfast! I said to the lady at reception that we had been told breakfast was at 08.00. She replied breakfast was available from 07.00 as she prepares it. I expressed our disappointment but she just smiled. An apology would have been much appreciated and should have been given - it was an example of very poor customer service. An apology would have meant I would not be writing this review. To add further insult to injury as I received an email from the booking agency wanting to know why we had not checked into the hotel!!!!…
I stayed here for a couple of nights in June. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the train station and a 10 minute walk from the town center. Despite it being located on a main street it is actually very quiet at night. The staff are lovely and have some great recommendations for where to eat and visit. The rooms are a nice size and really clean. Breakfast is extra but worth it, while the selection may not be as varied as the larger hotels much of the baking is home made and very tasty.
Lots of reviews have mentioned the excellent location, the nice clean rooms etc. for us it was all about the woman at the front desk who was friendly and welcoming, and extremely helpful with everything from restaurant recommendations to calling taxis. And most importantly, when the air conditioner in our room was problematic, she didn’t try to argue or fiddle with it, she immediately said she would give us another room (an upgraded one, as it turns out). I have had to negotiate things like this at 4 and 5 star places, that she handled this so quickly and easily was an huge benefit. I must also mention the delicious breakfast, with many selections.
