The hotel is situated on a very pretty street with nice shops and restaurants. From here you can walk up to the old city, or across the bridge to the new (less old) town. We had a lovely room with spectacular views, which was next to a small rooftop terrace overlooking the castle. Downstairs there is a lovely shaded garden with seating and a fountain. The owners were very friendly and helpful - we would definitely recommend this hotel as the ideal place to stay for a visit to this amazing city.

We really enjoyed our stay in the happy, quirky, lovely little hotel. The hotel sits just below the ramparts of Carcassonne and within 200m of the old bridge. The location is ideal for tourists; with nice budget restaurants within 50m, and for fans of writer Kate Mosse; whose Labyrinth books are set in this exact location. Our room was spacious with a large sofa as well as a comfy bed. The view from the window was the stunning cite and at night when it was floodlit it looked truly spectacular. The hotel has a lovely shaded garden with beautiful shrubs and a water feature. There is also the occasional mosquito so take some bug spray. The garden can be used for breakfast or the occasional tipple. Believe it or not you can buy a bottle of wine or beer from reception or the linked delicatessen and sup it in the garden. A bottle of rose wine in a chilled jacket is supplied with glasses for as little as 7 euros. Breakfast is self service with all the usual pastries, cheese etc and everything is top quality and well worth the 14 euros (I think). We left the hotel on a morning when there was major train disruption and the hotel staff were wonderful in helping me amend transport arrangements. I think one of my treasured memories from our Carcassonne visit will be the warmth, kindness and good humour of the owners and staff at this lovely little historic hotel.

This is one of the best small hotels I have ever stayed in. Our trip to Carcassonne was a surprise for my partners 60th birthday and I had carried out a lot of research and booked Hotel du Pont Vieux after reading all the fantastic reviews.

After booking I emailed to ask for a room with a view of the cite and we stayed in a premium room on the third floor and the view was amazing. From the moment we arrived the staff were friendly and helpful, always happy to answer questions and gave us some great restaurant recommendations.

The hotel has a beautiful courtyard garden with plenty of seating areas and it was lovely at the end of a busy day exploring Carcassonne to sit and relax with a bottle of local sparkling wine (available from hotel at a very reasonable price).
It was a hot few days but the air conditioning in the room kept the room nice and cool. The beds were extremely comfortable and I think I had the best four nights sleep ever!!

The hotel is situated in an ideal location for exploring Carcassonne, between the cite and the town, on an authentic French street with bars, cafes and restaurants.
I would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone (though please note there are no lifts and the stairs are spiral which adds to the charm of the hotel but might not suit everyone).

I also can’t leave a review without mentioning Isador (excuse me if that’s not spelt correctly) the hotel’s cat. He greeted us on arrival and could be found every day helping to run reception!!

A really nice few days at the Hotel du Pont Vieux while staying in Carcassonne. Well positioned on the Rue Trivalle cental for walking to the new town or the old walled city. Carcassonne is a 'must visit' destination for a short break and we were not disappointed from our welcome at the hotel, drinks and food in the old city and proximity to the airport. We took the bus from the airport to 'Le Dome' and then walked over the Pont Vieux bridge (around 10 mins) to the hotel. The hotel was easy to find. Our room was comfortable and breakfast was traditional and could be taken inside or in the enclosed rear garden. Jean Michel and Catherine were extremely welcoming and, important to highlight that, Jean Michel helped by taking us to the airport on our final day when our booked taxi failed to turn up. Some great views of the walled city from the roof patio area. Ideal for a Carcassonne visit. Highly recommended.

A short two-night getaway to Carcassone, and choosing Hotel Pont Vieux was a success. Near the citadel and La Bastida, next to Pont Vieux, in a picturesque street. Free parking nearby if you want, friendly and close treatment of hosts, clean and well-conditioned rooms (in our case, with great views of the Cité), breakfast, with quality product...superb. Fully recommended, and with a shop on the ground floor to purchase breakfast products

We have just returned from a 4 night trip staying at this hotel, and we had a wonderful time. The hotel's location is perfect, a short walk to the 'old cite', and a short walk into the 'new town' where you will find the Canal du Midi, train station for easy access to other places such as Montpellier and Narbonne, which are both worth a visit.
We booked a garden view room which was No. 9 on first floor, it was ideal, spacious, well equipped, very clean and comfortable, and a modern bathroom with a great shower. We had breakfast every day in the lovely garden, so nice to be able to sit outdoors in such relaxing, quiet surroundings, breakfast provided a variety of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, assorted breads and pastries, a selection of delicious compotes of which the rhubarb one was our particular favourite. The owners are most welcoming and so friendly, providing recommendations for restaurants, which we took avail of, and we were not disappointed with any. We would not hesitate in recommending Hotel Pont de Vieux for anyone considering a trip to Carcassonne, good quiet location, reasonable price, genial hosts - a great trip 😃🤗

We visited Carcassonne with friends to celebrate a special birthday and stayed at Hotel du Pont Vieux for 3 nights. I do not think we could have found a better place to stay. Perfectly located to visit the old cite, spotlessley clean and comfortable rooms, delicious breakfast and a terrace with the most wonderful close up view of the city walls. The most welcoming and helpful hosts you could wish for who helped with restaurants, day trip booking and taxis. Marvellous.

We had very enjoyable stay at this hotel, which is conveniently situated, in a quiet location, for the Old City (uphill walk but we did not find it a problem). A warm welcome greeted us on arrival and we found all the staff we met very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean, comfortable and we had plenty of space; the bed was very comfortable. A good breakfast was provided, which we could take inside or in the garden (a lovely setting). For convenience and not having visited Carcassonne before, we chose to take a taxi from the train station to the hotel. The taxi had to leave us near the hotel (1-2 minute walk to the hotel) as the hotel is situated in a no-traffic zone at certain times of the year. The hotel provided clear instructions for getting to the hotel, so again no problem. On leaving we decided to walk to the train station, about a 20 minute mostly flat walk. We would certainly use this hotel again if returning to Carcassonne.

Excellent location. Very friendly staff who suggested restaurants to go to and sorted out reservations for us and tickets for the canal boat trip. Shout out especially to Waly.
Good buffet breakfast offered for €12 - we only booked a room.
Our room was a garden view but that was a little exaggerated . It did look over the back.
The en-suite was a proper bathroom which appeared recently refurnished. All extremely clean and comfortable.
The only reason we say 4 not 5 is there was nowhere inside to sit. There is a nice garden area but it was raining so it would have been nice to have an inside lounge or bar area. However we would recommend it otherwise.

Although we had to walk up three flights of stairs with luggage, the payoff was tremendous. The two rooms on the top floor (19 and 20) have a breathtaking view of the fortress of Carcassonne. There is also a rooftop terrace up there with tables and chairs, so all hotel guests can enjoy the same view if they want. The bathroom was modern and spacious and the bed comfortable. The room had funky uneven floors and corners as found in very very old buildings. The reception staff went out of their way to be helpful, even parking my car in their garage for me because it was a little tricky to do.

Yes tap water is drinkable, but the owners also provide room service if they are on site, so wines, coffee etc. & bottled water. I did a long weekend and managed dinner at 19.30 ish every evening on/ in the same street!! Happy travelling, you'll love it!!
