After being closed since 4 years, we are back with a new Posada! Now you can rent the whole house for your stays in Carcassonne. (4 bedrooms ensuite and more than 250m2) You will find this hidden gem tucked away in the picturesque quarter known as La Barbacane and it is here that visitors from all around the world choose to stay in the heart of Cathar country. Built on the site of the former barbican of the medieval City and at the very foot of the ramparts, both the City and the Bastide Saint Louis are easily accessible on foot. At the Posada del Castillo , we are in a classified historical monuments' area so, although we do not have a swimming pool, we do have Carcassonne's Lake Cavayere 5 minutes away as well as the Mediterranean, mountain lakes, rivers and streams in close proximity. Although, being in a town and next to the Chapel of Saint Gimer, we do not have large grounds or parklands, we do have a cosy terrace and a private garden which offer our guests a truly unique view of the Cite. Indeed, the medieval walls, the Porte d'Aude and the Chateau Comtal are less than 100m away. It is the Porte d'Aude which evokes Carcassonne World Wide and it is this gate which is featured on all of the postcards and used as a backdrop in movies and historical productions.

Again we returned to Carcassonne and we chose to stay again with La Posada. You can't go wrong stayingn here -- from the warm and endearing welcome of our hosts Enrique & Lola to the special days spent on La Posada's dream view on the terrace, it was just the best time in my travelling life. I have now stayed in all but one of the rooms La Posada offers and they are all lovingly and well appointed with vey comfortable beds. Enrique and Lola open not only there lovely home but their hearts to their guests. I say this because my partner was suffering from a bout of flu'y cold (le grippe) of the worst kind but thanks to Lola with her aromatherapy assistence and care my partner after a day was on the improving health path. Enrique is also a font of knowledge on local spots to visit, local history, local good restaurants and day trips to take on your stay. We espeicially like the little dinning area with this view. Here for breakfast each day you have an amazing selection of locally sourced organic breads, fruit and other treats to start your day. You could not ask more of a B&B nor of it's owners. 5 out of 5 stars on all fronts for La Posada!

Bonjour! I'm planning to do a website like Tripadvisor but for reviews about guests. When it will be done I'll give you both 5 stars in every domain. Thanks again for coming to Cathar Country and to let us enjoy your peacefull way of life. Everybody here, including Thomas at l'Escargot keep a fantastic souvenir from you (we speak about you yesterday night). Winter is coming now but there is still a little bit of your sunshine here and all around. We wish you All the Best and continue to follow you and your trips on social medias. This was our second stay at La Posada and, like last year, we decided to extend our visit. The beds were as comfortable as we remembered, the rooms were as peaceful and the ambience created by Enrique and Lola was the perfect recipe for total relaxation. They make all of their guests feel special and have a knack of suggesting perfect restaurants and days out. I was especially touched by their concern for me when I was unwell during the visit. Enrique is such an enthusiastic and knowledgable ambassador for the region that you can't help but fall in love with it too. I should also mention that we loved the breakfasts, which were healthy but allowed me to indulge my love of different types of bread! It was lovely to spend time sitting and reading on the sunny patio with the backdrop of the castle ramparts rising above us, listening to a great selection of music. There are good restaurants within a few minutes walk round the corner and if you eat in La Cite the walk up and down the steep cobbled path behind La Posada is magical at night with the castle lit up. The shop that Lola runs on the ground floor is packed full of beautiful stones, jewellery and other delights and is well worth a visit. We will be back!!

We spent two nights in La Posada and were so impressed by our wonderful welcome from Enrique. A brilliant parking spot, help with luggage, refreshing glass of sangria while he told us about the history of what was the most stunning mediaeval city we have ever visited. The Chevaliers bedroom had a fantastic view of the city, particularly at night when the walls were lit up. The bed linen was crisp and fresh and the bathroom a pleasure. Lola's breakfasts were delicious, from great breads and homemade jam to tapas bites of sweet and savoury items.. I had a foot problem so was unable to walk comfortably on cobbles so Enrique drove us up to the main gate where the terrain was easier on my foot, then collected us after dinner at a restaurant that he recommended and booked for us. He also reserved a table for us at a restaurant close to the Posada on a previous night which was also wonderful. Since we have returned home we have never stopped talking about Carcassonne and La Posada and hope to return for a longer trip in the future. Many thanks Enrique and Lola and all success to you both.

Our stay was enhanced by the care and attention that Lola & Enrique lavish on their guests. Aside from the personal effort they expend ensuring we knew where to eat, what to see and making bookings for us, we loved the room and easy access to the old gate, just a few minutes walk on the quieter side of the castle. We loved Carcassonne and felt completely at home at La Posada.
