The Ibis Centre-Ville Besancon is a lovely hotel. The staff are all very warm and welcoming. The location is great, near to the trams and the river and walking distance to the Viotte train station. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The breakfast is excellent. I would definitely stay here again!

We stayed for a night at the Ibis Besancon Centre Ville and we really enjoyed our stay. It is really well located, and easy to find. We parked our car in the car park - it looks like a very narrow passage to drive through to access the car park, but with the mirrors folded in, we managed it fine in our SUV. We really liked our room - plenty of room and very comfortable bed. The bathroom looked as though it had been recently refurbished to a high standard and the shower was really excellent - a very modern design with push buttons! From the hotel, the city centre is all around and we took a boat trip (the Receptionist gave us directions to the mooring which is just across the bridge from the hotel on a little island) around the city and it went through the long tunnel which was really interesting. Afterwards we had a lovely walk around the City Centre and up to the top of the hill and the historic buildings up there. We found the long street of restaurants with seating outside, and had a lovely meal and it was just a short walk back to the hotel.

We have stayed in hundreds of hotels big and small over the last few years. We stayed here two years ago and the hotel is pretty much the same with some recent issues. This is a good hotel but could use some updating. The positives: clean property and room, good WiFi, walking distance to restaurants and the citadel, about 2 kilometers from train station, quiet room, good elevator, secure bicycle storage in locked room, great water pressure in sink and shower. The negatives: room and bath lighting needs to be improved, lobby is beginning to look worn and needs some updating, breakfast area is really small.

I have stayed at many ibis hotels and this is one of the better ones. Good location on side-street in city centre, not so big (and therefore not so busy), reasonably quiet, comfortable bed and check-in/check-out done quickly.
