We spent two nights at the place, the staff were friendly and the bouncers/security always said hello and were nice to us. The room was a decent size, comfy bets etc. however. There was a hole in our wall with some type of thing in it? Callum told me not to touch it, I did. 4/5

Great location ! Quick check in! Excellent price for the room ! (£35 for a thurs night) We booked a double room (no window) Room was spacious and clean ! Bed was clean and comfy ! Although we heard bad things about this hotel in the past we gave it a go! It’s the third time iv stayed here and I haven’t had a bad room yet ! The toilet was a little difficult to flush but didn’t impact our stay ! It’s a bed for the night ! Tea and coffee facilities included ! Shower gel on wall ! Drinking Glasses in bathroom ! Tv.. clean towels .. a working hairdryer , What more do you need for a one night stay in Manchester ? Will be staying here again for sure x

Stayed with our daughter for 2 nights. Great location and the family room was very large with a lovely lay out. A bargain for the price and location. Dont stay if you have unrealistic ideas of what you get for your money in a central location. Also there are lots of youngsters and party goers staying because of the location and price. My view of all the very negative reviews ... Having to show ID .... they tell.you berore hand that everyone has to bring it so whats the issue. Security on the door.... yes there is.. they were all nice and friendly and surely its a good thing. The area .... its in a very busy , central area ( which is why we chose it) so yes its noisy and theres a few dodgy folk in the area outside. Maybe thats why security is a nice idea. Rooms are hot .... yes on arrival, so we turned them down. Staff..... Friendly enough, not 5 star service but neither is the price. Smell of weed.... little bit on occasion. My opinion its on some people clothes ( its a party town with young people staying) rather than smoking in rooms. No windows.... some rooms dont. They are cheaper. It says no windows when you book. Decor... its a bit dated but at the price and loaction it was not a problem. So for a cheap central hotel i would go for it everytime. If i wanted an up market luxury hotel with 5 star staff in a quiet part of town occupied by peiole who were in bed by ten.... id go elsewhere.

Do not ever use Royal Brittania hotels. I booked a room as a last resort as it was a match day and all other hotels in Manchester had surge priced. If you use Booking.com (especially if you are on the move( be award that they require you to use a passport or Driving Licence or they will turn you away after making you feel like a criminal and taking your money. If you use Booking.com you get a message about this AFTER you have made the reservation! By which time they have your details and your money! This is obviously a scam. I have travelled the world and never had this kind of thing anywhere. Pretty gauling as I'm a British citizen and I don't tend to walk around with my passport on me in the UK.

When we arrived, the hotel does not look anything like the pictures on booking.com that are advertised, it's advertised as bright and fresh, not in real life. It's the only hotel I have visited where we all needed photo id to check in, not only for myself named as the booking person but also husband and 2 children, this was causing a massive issue, the staff were very rude to most guestson check in that we experienced, and when we got back to the hotel on a very busy Saturday evening about 21.30, the bar was busy with a lot of guest wanting serving, but the barman had left a sign on the bar, saying go to reception for orders, when going to reception, we and others were told that the bar man was on his break and they said he could be 15 mins up to 30 mins, but they couldnt be exact. The customer service is diabolical. The rooms were clean ish, but very dark lighting which I always thinks hides stuff and is very dated. It is in a great location as we walked every where we needed to be within 10 mins max, but I feel for what we paid for our family room, we did not get the service that we paid for, we won't be back I'm afraid, as we feel that a lot of work/ updating needs to be done , I think a few years ago, maybe pre covid it would have been a stunning hotel, but not now.

Terrible hotel! Avoid! Wasted your money! All staff never greet to customers, their faces were very serious and stared at you all the time when you came to the hotel. Took more than one hour for checking in, although just only two guests there. Terrible room and smelly. Disgusting room you could see the pictures as showed. Staff were rude and unprofessional. Helpless and strange behaviours and bad manners. The final day we stayed. When we returned to the hotel and found that our room door had been opened and unlocked properly. We checked our room and found a few towels been put on the floor. Dirty room and dark. Broken lights. Very noisy. NOT SAFETY AROUND THE HOTEL, THE POLICE CAME TO BLOCKED THE STREET/ TIB STREET ON 10TH February 2024. No recommend at all. No come back again. AVOID!

I have only given this 2 because of the convenience of the location. We was staying for two days and had traveled some distance to be here. We walked into the building and it looked lovely. However It took almost a hour to get checked into the room, there wasn’t even that many people infront of us! Once we got to the room, it was awful. Extremely hot room and no window or even ventilation! Just a little desk fan that circulates the same air. No proper lighting just lamps, two of which didn’t work. No plugs next to the beds, luckily I’d taken a powerbank, you also can’t unplug the lamps and use those as the plugs have a round top. We wasn’t going to be spending long in the room only really to sleep in so didn’t use the wardrobe and hangers provided as it smelled extremely damp, so was living out of our travel bags, which was great until we realised that there was damp spots all over the floors. The trousers that id had out ready for the next day were then wet through and stunk of damp. These damp spots were along all wall line and especially on the wall next to the bathroom, which also had no working ventilation. They charge £7 a day for WiFi which you have no choice really but to pay as the signal is non existent and the hotel free WiFi doesn’t work. On the second day we had gone out and on return our keycard no longer worked and had seen multiple others with the same issue. Some of those had only just checked in! The reception staff were very slow at anything they did. I’d asked for extra towels and it took them 15 minutes to find them, asking multiple other members of staff and they were literally in the room behind the reception. However the security on the front took his job extremely seriously and the night we returned back late we didn’t think he was going to let us in. Which is a good thing that they are being extremely cautious but was super annoying at the time as we just wanted to get to our room. The place isn’t fit for purpose and I would highly recommend avoiding this hotel.

Absolutely disgusted!!! Booked for a night and paid £175 for a night. We got there, waited 50 minutes in a line to get booked in to be turned away from my stay AFTER PAYING FULL PRICE! because my partner didn’t have ID, would never stay here after that!!!! Ruined the whole night. Had to pay another £100 to stay else where.

me and my friend were staying at this hotel as we were going to see a concert. we were trying to check in and it took around half an hour to get us checked in. we booked a twin room with a window, we ended up in a twin room without. the door of the room didn’t shut properly and didn’t lock. after complaining, we were told that there were no more twin rooms available and they could put us into a double room and could change our room for the second night. we accepted and went to the second room. this room was a double room, had no windows. there were, what i assume, coffee stains on the walls near the bed too. the bed was not comfy at all. our final room that we were given was a lot better, we were put into a family suite which did have windows. the staff on reception were very rude to my friend and i. for any stays over 3 nights, you have to pay £20+ for wifi in the room, with £7 for one night. both lifts in the hotel are extremely dodgy too on a more positive note, the security guards on the doors were so kind and were absolutely amazing.

would never stay again!! we had the worst experience, we stayed over for the concert happening on the weekend and we wished we stayed somewhere else. we moved rooms three times, when we booked the hotel we booked a twin room with a window, we got there and there was no twin rooms with a window so they put us in a twin room with no window. However, when we got there the door wouldn’t lock and as to 18 year olds we didn’t feel safe already, then they put us in a double bed room with no window which we didn’t want, and they said ‘if u stay in this room for tonight then tomorrow night we’ll upgrade you to a family suite’ so we were like ok, it was BOILING in the room but it had to do, then the next day we moved into a family suite that room wasn’t to bad but what got me was that one of my friends ended up wanting to stay with us for the last night so i told the reception and i had to pay an additional charge of £15 even tho the room was made for 3-4 people so i told him that but he said bc we originally booked a twin room so i had to pay!!!! the only thing i liked about my stay was the location n the security guards at the front other than that i would never stay again
