Our booking included breakfast but did we get any ..... no. We went downstairs in the morning expecting breakfast to be told they weren’t serving breakfast due to COVID-19. We weren’t told this when we checked in. My husband is type 1 diabetic and had taken his insulin in our bedroom before we went downstairs. We had to jump in the car and dash into the town centre to find somewhere for breakfast before he ended up having a hypo!!! Our room wasn’t bad but the exterior and car park looks shabby.

Stayed over night on business last night, didn’t get to the hotel till late but was greeted by the friendly staff who had a nice quick chat with me to see how my day had been and asked about what I’d been doing for the day as I’d been explaining my job. I was absolutely knackered so was rather happy to be at the hotel. As soon as I walked in to my hotel room, I was greeted with a real decent sized room and bathroom, which I was not expecting! The room was clean and nicely arranged , and had a lot of amenities for the price that was paid for the room! Would have liked to have stayed longer but unfortunately I was only able to stay for 8 hours sleep. Wish I was able to try the breakfast this morning however I had to be back on the road before breakfast was served, I did however have a quick look over the menu that was in my room last night to see what sort of food they had to offer and there was a real good selection to cater for everybody! Thanks again to the lovely staff at the Grand St Ledger, and hopefully I will be back soon once I’m passing that way again on a job!

This was a great hotel, and it was reasonably priced, interior a little dated but for the price who cares, the secret weapon is the food in the restaurant, it was fantastic, and the girls who served me were great. They could do with turnng the heating down in the rooms as it was a little hot and I had to sleep with the window open in winter, such a waste of heat.

Had a terrible stay here on 7th December for our anniversary, paid extra for the jacuzzi bath the was broken and they refuse to refund the extra I paid?? The room was unbelievably hot even though it was freezing all night, by the time we got to the room about 10pm the heating had been on full ALL day. It was so hot it made you feel sick as soon as you walked into reception not just the room. All the other guests were saying the same and kept going outside to cool down even halfway through their meal. The meal in Crab & Moo was outstanding and every staff member apart from Catherine was extremely friendly, professional and helpful. Really lovely bunch. Catherine on the other hand, I'm unsure how she's still in a job to be honest, she obviously has no idea how to deal with customers, I am very friendly and polite (first negative review) but I will not be called a liar and made to look stupid when the concerns I brought to her about the room have obviously been brought up before now I've checked reviews. Springs sticking out of the mattress, unclean room, very outdated, broken jacuzzi bath, random screws sticking out of the floor tiles and tiles surrounding the bath. Broken light shade full of dust above the bed. Ridiculously warm, window doesn't stay open. Carpark is just waste ground full of rubble. I'm gutted to leave this review as the restaurant and the rest of the staff make it worthwhile but to not address customer complaints correctly and to speak to people like she does means I wouldn't stay again even if it was free and unfortunately as she works there I wouldn't return to the restaurant either.

We stayed as part of a new year getaway. The whole place it well presented and clean and exactly what we needed for the night and all was well apart from one very rude and extremely unhelpful member of staff. As a business owner and with 20 years experience in hospitality i can say it takes effort to be so rude to paying guests with the most simple of questions/requests. The lady i am speaking of was of senior staff and blatantly pulled faces and undermined other staff members who were actually more helpful and capable of the jobs they were doing. I asked the said 'lady' on reception for a wine glass for the room" no, just no she replied. No explanation or reason. (I dont see that its a major ask) At the same time as i stood there actually thinking she was joking i asked if she could recommend anywhere for food that evening, her reply was "here, but we are full so nowhere". Hmmm ok then that was very helpful. I walked away confused at how someone could be so rude as i am always polite and it was uncalled for and very abrupt tone. Later in the evening when we were ready to go out we went to the bar for drinks to witness just how rude ahe was with the young waiters (no more than 16/17 years old) again very rude and uncalled for. My partner than asked her if she had a taxi number. (I did warn him how ignorant she was earlier) The answer he recieved was "a taxi will take ages go stand outside" he explained qe didn't mind waiting and she shrugged her shoulders and walked away. Both of us were shocked at this... she worked on reception and the bar vut was unable to provide paying guests with a local taxi number or any kind of conversation! Anyway we did ask one of the well dress polite young men who instantly gave us a taxi number and the driver was there within 7 minutes of making the call so we didn't have to stay in the bar with the very rude women! Its such a shame as the place itself was lovely but i would never stay there again and would not recommend to anyone. Manners cost nothing !
