Writing this on behalf of my nephew who stayed for a few days as we didn't have room in the house for him. He was very happy with his room, which was quite spacious and comfortable, and he really enjoyed the English breakfasts served in the main building. There was a lot of choice for the breakfast, he could have had more continental style. He said the staff were very pleasant, and altogether his stay worked out very well.
We stayed here on 07/10/22 on a last minute night away, we had another great stay, the rooms are fab with a good shower. We ate at the property in the evening and can only conclude that the prices have taken a leap up, we had a couple of drinks (pricey) and fish and chips which we both agreed were not the best, the batter was soft (more like you would get on a banana fritter) so maybe not have that again. I will say the breakfast was fab with my only niggle being that the sausage was a little on the strong taste side for me but it was all quality produce. Check in and out was seamless and we would probably stay here again.
Stayed overnight Friday to Saturday on a leisure trip to the area. My evening meal and breakfast were both freshly cooked and extremely enjoyable. All staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The draught beer was well kept and several good bitters were on tap. My accomodation, in the seperate building just across the way, was very comfortable, clean and spacious.
A good sized room with a king size bed and nice shower room. Well appointed and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and beautifully cooked. The staff were very helpful and the girl in charge was excellent. All this coupled with a good price makes this a place to return to.
We stayed on a Saturday night - vital to make reservation in dining room. The room was excellent - enormous bed (think it was a king room) and bathroom was pristine with walk in shower plus soft towels. Only short path to restaurant. Our evening meal was fine considering how busy the place was. Breakfast has to be pre-ordered the night before and, despite arriving at booked time, we had a long wait and eventually had to speak to waiting staff to enquire where our food was.
This is the second time staying here and met our expectations once again. Food, staff and room all excellent. Only small let down was that the WiFi didn't seem to be working but not a big problem for us. Hopefully will be returning again in November
My wife and I decided at the last minute to visit some villages in an area we once lived. We found this pub/hotel on the internet and it’s reviews were good. We were not disappointed. Arrived to smiles from the staff in the reception we were given all the necessary information and proceeded to our very clean and modern double room. The rooms are in a block separated from the main pub/restaurant. We ate both evenings from their menu and I would certainly recommend the belly pork. Breakfasts are served to request from the previous evenings and are cooked fresh to order or there is a selection of cereals etc. If we are ever back in the area we would no hesitation in staying again. Thank you to all the staff 👍
Very good for a short break. The rooms are spacious and clean - similar to Premier Inn. Hotel part in a separate block linked by a covered walkway. Plenty of parking. Tea and coffee in rooms. TV worked OK but didn't spend much time in the room. The pub and restaurant next door was very good. Not fine dining but good food served by efficient polite staff. Had something off the specials menu which was great so they do have a proper chef. Good local ales which pleased my man! Staff were very friendly. Breakfast is ordered the night before which means it is ready on time. Great bacon and there was a fruit bowl! No frills but no problems.
Stayed for two nights. Slow check in even though the only couple at reception. Poor quality of breakfast over two days. Freshly cooked on first morning, all piping hot and delicious. Clearly precooked and kept warm on second morning. Fried Eggs like rubber, poached were solid!! Both breakfasts left but no apology or offer of a replacement. Give away maybe is the preorder night before with your time… oh and two different staff told us. Room was spacious just lacked a good clean ! Staff weren’t very friendly, very busy chatting amongst themselves on occasions when waiting to be served. Shame as we use pubs every fortnight to stay in Swindon, one we won’t return to of our own accord. And no solid apology or remedy when management were informed of the issues.
