We stayed at the Queensgate hotel as a last minute date night away. The hotel is located around 10 minutes walk from Peterborough Centre. Where there are lots of bars, clubs and restaurants to choose from.

The hotel was clean, our room was a decent size with all the amenities we needed. (Ironing board, tea coffee making facilities and toiletries)
We were hesitant when booking because of the price but as we were only using the hotel as a base we went ahead and booked, can’t believe the room was only £38 including breakfast and for the location, it was great!

We will definitely return the next night out in Peterborough, the taxi back was £6 from the center of town, there were ample taxis waiting at the end of the night.

We stayed here due to price but it certainly delivered far more. as soon as we arrived we were greeted with warmth and personality.. We arrived later in the evening so hadn't eaten - we don't normally eat in hotels but the restaurant looked good and good value.

We enjoyed a lovely evening with pub grub and flowing wine - great value and home cooked with service that was chit chatty and personable,

Would stay here again if in the area and need a good value happy experience

The hotel is value for money. It was clean and the staff helpful. The drawbacks - restaurant was not open although heavily plugged on website and confirmation emails. As a non-driver solo traveller I would not have nooked the hotel as I don't know the area and food outlets nearby - which was KFC or takeaway pizza.

My first room had main light missing which would have made reading impossible, but was moved to a room where all lights worked.

Breakfast was a buffet but hot and plentiful. The hotel rooms need a little TLC - filling holes where new fittings had been put.

Room 47 needs the shower rail repaired and a fan fitted in the bathroom.

Overall the positives far outweigh the negatives but next time will check on restaurant as that was difficult.

We have visited this hotel on my occasions over the years but unfortunately after our latest stay will not be going again. The whole hotel has a poor state of decoration and has a shabby feel. The room was no better. The carpets were filthy, the bed lacking springs which didn't help for a good night's sleep and the sink in the bathroom was coming away from the wall. The last residents empty shower bottles were left which makes you wonder if a proper clean had been made of the room before we checked in. We had breakfast as this had always been good but it was a buffet breakfast. The juices and milk were warm as they were not in or on a cooler just on the bar and the food was overcooked and looked as if it had been stood there for an hour. Breakfast time was 8.00am onwards and we sat at 8.30am so not good.

Booked a room for a trip to Peterborough, had to cancel due to family member being unwell. Was booked through booking.com, I wasn’t able to cancel without charge so I sent a free cancellation request and explained what was going on the evening before. The hotel did not even get back to me and I have been charged for the price of the room. How inconsiderate are these people?

I wasn't expecting much from the hotel but I wasn't expecting to be greeted with such a grotty venue either. A pretty cold welcome, a non working room key card, to then being greeted by a horrific smell of TCP in the room that never faded... my expectations were met and then some.

The attached pictures tell the rest of the tale.

The best thing about the room was a powerful shower... but amongst a bathroom I was delighted to spend as little time in as possible.

More a motel than a hotel. Wouldn’t recommend nor visit again.

Where do I start. Would be quicker to write what I liked. The place is filthy and needs knocking down.
The whole hotel seems to be run by one nervous lady who seemed tonhave job role of receptionist and housekeeping. The car park is littered with cigarette ends ends rubbish, that pretty set the tone. The hotel and room stank of stale smoke. On arrival we actually had to call the hotel to get service. It was a pretty cold welcome, certainly no airs and graces.
The room was grim, mouldy grout, extractor fan didn't work, bulbs not working in the bathroom mirror. The bed I wouldn't even let a dog sleep on, mattress stained, the pillows should have been in the bin 10 years ago, microfibre that had all lumped together and an inch thick. I decided to take the cover off my top pillow this morning to discover what I can only assume an old blood stain, looks like someone has had a nose bleed at some point, they have put in the washing machine and thought it was acceptable to put it back on the bed. Lampshade had fallen off at some point and just shoved on top of the wardrobe.
No tea, coffee facilities, in fact not even a glass or mug yet there was a kettle in the wardrobe!
Stains on carpet, dust all around the skirting boards that had clearly been there some time.
Doors and windows throughout the corridor were filthy, no sign of hand gel, in fact the one dispenser that was on the wall looked broken and gel dried out.
Ground floor so the usual noise outside and more, drunk people screaming down the road in their way home from town, car parked in car park directly outside of our window who in the early hours of the morning decided they could stand at their car and talk loudly, sounding drunk for 15 minutes opening and shutting the car doors.
Breakfast the same lady asked us to sit anywhere but we had to find a table that was clean, in fact ours wasn't clean but it was the best of the bunch. I could not wait to leave. This was booked through booking.com and I wasn't expecting 5star but it has 3 stars apparently. I think 1 star would be an ambition for them.

Upon checking in, the staff were polite and friendly. They remained as such throughout our visit when we visited the bar etc. upon climbing the stairs to reach our room we were pleased to find high ceilings and an airy room.

The bed was comfortable enough but the pillows provided might as well have been non existent, I’ve slept better sat upright on a plane.

The window in the room did not close properly, which wasn’t a major issue as it was warm enough but we were subjected to loud traffic noise and music from the pub across the road late into the night.

The room was cleaned adequately and the bathroom, other than some minor age related damage was satisfactory.

What a huge disappointment this hotel and its management are, they have definitely given up and cannot give ‘two hoots’ about the property and more importantly their guests.

The outside of the property presented what was to come, a rundown, uncared for business which was lacking professionalism and requiring a good clean up.

The team at the hotel gave me the impression that they had given up caring as well, shown by the attitude at check in and throughout the stay.

The corridors and stairways to the room were dirty and uncared for, with peeling paint and stained carpets in evidence throughout

The small single room that I booked could have been so much better if they cared yet it was disgustingly unclean, lacked any comfort, was so hot and was extremely noisy given the close proximity of the external kitchen ventilation system that meant sleep, for me, was impossible, (I asked to change rooms and this was denied).

All the room amenities had issues, the chair seat was stained with brown marks (make of that what you will), the television lacked free view channels, the Wi-Fi was so slow and lost connectivity numerous times I had to use my mobile data, the TV remote control was dirty and I had to clean it prior to use, the duvet was so thin and patchy it desperately required replacement and which was the same for the pillows, the hospitality tray lacked a cup so making a beverage was not possible.

The bathroom was just as unclean as the rest and the shower controls were broken making showering impossible, yet the management could not careless.

I emailed my concerns to the management as requested by the staff on duty at check-out and they have failed to respond after initially acknowledging the message, another example of the inept management of the hotel.

I thought after all these years of driving past and thinking what nice looking hotel it was we would give it ago .
VERY DISSAPOINTED
The inside does definitely does not live up to the appearance of the outside and for what they charge per night is appalling.
When we checked in the appearance of the inside was very dated and run down
When we entered the room there was a clear smell of damp even tho the window was left open it didn't radiate the smell.
The walls were badly marked. The carpet was badly stained. The duvet cover was torn. The ceiling light was missing its cover. The shower door didn't shut so when having a shower it was pouring out the bottom and the water was barely warm.
The light didn't work above the mirror didn't work which made the bathroom very dark .
Facility's in the room wete for one person 1 towel one mug.
It was a very basic room when we paid for a double superior.
The pillows were as thin as a bit of a4 paper
We checked out in the morning and I told the receptionist and clearly couldn't give a toss.said she would report it.
No real apology no offer of a partial refund so we would never stay there again and wouldn't recommend it and for £120 per night which they charge without breakfast, really expected more for the money if it was £40 per night would of expected what we had

We didn't eat at the hotel. We had our meal as part of the greyhound stadium package. The breakfast in the morning was very good though.
