The hotel is very convenient for getting to and from the airport with Airlink 747 Express stops ( from airport and to airport ) on Cathal Brugha Street just opposite the hotel. The staff at the reception were very helpful and check-in and check-out were...More
When I travel I look for a place to sleep that is clean and well located. The Academy Plaza is within the center of the city of Dublin, well within walking distance of anywhere one could want to walk. All the points of interest are...More
Although Academy Plaza is sometimes described as 'no frills' hotel my husband and I have been staying here every time we visit Dublin for the past 5 or 6 years. It is located very close to O Connell Street and therefore so convenient to all...More
For a very competitively priced hotel, right off O'Connell Street, I can see why someone would be skeptical about the accommodations. Seeing is actually believing, though. As someone who stayed in even the base accommodations with my wife - yes, they were a little smaller...More

assume you are arriving into Dublin Port? taxi best bet as it is not far.. there is a bus option but you would have to check routes to top (North End) of O Connell st when you reach port. .

We stayed in a triple-occupancy room, which we think is pretty enough for a family with parents and a teenage child.
When we went to The Temple Bar in late March, we shared the table with a couple (from US, I guess) and their teenage daughter. The parents enjoyed beer and the daughter had coke. I remember it was about 9 PM, and the father let his daughter try a sip of his Guinness Beer. In Doolin when we dined in a restaurant/pub, there were a young couple with their toddler boy, as well as a German group which had a girl, for whom the whole pub sang Happy Birthday To You for her 15-year-old birthday.
