Really nice hotel, clean and comfortable with spacious room. Good breakfast with many choices. Great location for walking, picking up a city bike and public transport. Our room faced the busy road but excellent double glazing meant only the slightest noise. Very helpful and polite staff.
Stayed 4 nights, Sunday-Thursday . Really enjoyed our time in The Gresham. Room lovely and quiet, good bed and everything spotless. Generous supply of fresh towels every day. Breakfast lovely and no queues…. I suggest you arrive early if staying at the weekend as per hotel recommendations. We didn’t eat there other than breakfast but had drinks in the bar every night where they knew we were guests. Anyone worried about Covid need not fear, sanitiser everywhere and all regulations adhered to. Location of Gresham is fantastic, LUAS right outside the door and buses too. Tourist office a few steps away and Dublin Bus office across the road if you need to buy one day travel tickets. I hope I return to The Gresham soon.
Only stayed for 1 night with my husband and son. We stayed in a family room which had loads of space and a good sized bathroom. All staff we encountered were absolutely lovely. Breakfast was amazing, buffet style and loads to offer. Our 7 year old loved the pancake machine and went back up for round 2!! The only bad things I have to say about the hotel is the lock in our bedroom was faulty and we had to call a maintenance worker twice to fix it. He fixed it and was lovely to deal with. The only other thing was when we were in the (middle) elevator the doors wouldn't open when we got to the ground floor and the alarm bell wasn't working. It eventually opened after 6 or 7 minutes but it was enough time to make our son nervous to get back in them. The hotel is beautiful and huge. There were renovations going on but it didn't effect us at all it was managed very well. We will definitely be back in the near future for a longer stay!! …
Great stay, stayed here last Tuesday (7th of March to Thursday the 9th of March for a concert with my mum and sister for a concert on the Wednesday night in the 3Arena and the location of the hotel was great
When booking my hotel room I looked at the photos of the rooms and was satisfied. They looked really nice and modern. The hotel is very central which is basically the only really amazing thing. The lobby is also very modern which increases your hopes for your room. I was given a room at the end of the floor. When I opened my door and looked at my room I was surprisingly underwhelmed. The whole “decoration” and furniture was old and not very modern. It was way too cold in the room and the ac didn’t change anything. The walls are paper thin, so you basically share the room with your neighbors. There was loud noises all the time, especially in the morning since there was some kind of construction that nobody told me about. One day the fire alarm in my room went off even though there was no smoking or whatsoever involved, which could have led to the alarm going off. It was gone after I opened the window but still no one seemed to notice it. I found some hair that couldn’t belong to me in my bathroom/bathtub and my bed sheets. I was disappointed that there was no fridge or water given. As well as the bed that you could just move because it seemed like it had some kind of rolls. All in all, I kind of felt a little bit uncomfortable in my room or the hotel in general. I am dissatisfied. While going out I could look in different rooms which were open because the cleaners left the doors open, and I was surprised because many rooms already looked better than mine. The doors are super old and you really have so smash them to close them fully. I can see why people are not mad about this hotel and it is probably not the worst hotel that I’ve ever stayed in. Still I don’t see how this hotel has 4 stars. What I got was not a 4 star experience and that’s the problem. Of course you can stay in this hotel and not feel uncomfortable, maybe I’m even too “sensitive” but I was just frustrated. I would’ve expected more from the reviews, the outer surface and just the hotel in general. For me that’s not a 4 star hotel. The staff was very hostile though. I probably would not book this again and if I would, I would probably not choose the standard hotel room with the queensize bed. …
I have just returned home from a great 2 night stay at the Riu The Gresham in Dublin and couldn’t fault the stay. Check in was smooth and the staff were very helpful. The room was excellent. We just had the standard double room on the third floor which was a good size with all the amenities you would usually expect, a good selection of tea, coffee and toiletries. The bed was very comfy and we had a great nights sleep on both nights. A tv with lots of channels and an in room safe. Breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of hot and cold foods, a coffee machine and even a gluten free section. The gym was good and clean, a few cardio machines, fixed weight machines and dumbbells and the hotel bar was great with a wide variety of cocktails and drinks. The location of the hotel is also perfect as it is in walking distance to most places and also has a taxi rank right outside of the hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone looking for great value for money and a lovely place to stay when visiting Dublin!…
Hotel was well appointed. Reception staff were pleasant upon check in but left us sitting for 30 mins in reception as they weren’t sure what was happening with our room. Communication could have been better. Our room was in a newer part of the hotel which did require quite a lengthy trek to get to (including 2 lifts). The corridors in this newer part are very fresh but it feels a bit ‘cheaper’ than the grandeur of the rest of the hotel. The rooms themselves are very well appointed and had everything you would expect. The only issue was that the room was booked for 2 adults and 2 children (age 10 &9) and the sofa bed was not big enough for two children of that age, maybe two toddlers or two pre primary age children. One of the children ended up having to share with us which wasn’t ideal. I don’t think it’s a stretch to provide beds big enough for everyone to sleep comfortably- particularly at the room rate charged and the fact there was ample space to accommodate something bigger. So be aware if you have older children! The breakfast was good and plenty of choice. Location is excellent.…
Really friendly staff. Lovely reception area. Very nice and well appointed rooms. Clean, tidy. No noise where we were. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Brilliant base for a trip to Dublin. Thought the bar menu was a bit lacking but didn’t realise there was a bistro (Toddy’s) next door but part of the hotel!
Good points were - pleasant enough staff, decent breakfast, good location. That might be it! Unfortunately, although we had contacted the hotel in advance to query parking, and were told some was available at the hotel, staff told us on arrival that the car park was not available currently. It was also practically impossible to get parked outside upon arrival although advised to do so, with limited space and a bus and taxis pretty much in residence. Main difficulty was that extremely loud maintenance work commenced about 8am in the morning and particularly as this was a planned one night break, a Sunday morning, and an expensive stay, this was very underwhelming and disruptive. Duty Manager and staff offered no compensation of any kind. Simple advance notice of the renovations and lack of onsite parking really should have been provided. Sawdust and shoddy workmanship actually quite evident also to be honest. I await a likely dismissive or unsatisfactory response if any!…
This was a Christmas present so, hoped that it would be special. I truly wished that I had not booked this hotel. The receptionist couldn't manage a smile when we booked in...not a very warm welcome. When we found our room we were horrified to find that there were building works being done opposite. The space next door was an area where the builders were moving all the building equipment, tools etc so, a lot of noise. I rang the reception to ask when the building works start and finish. A very off hand answer of possibly start at 8am and finish at 6pm. I then asked if we could be moved away from said works, no rooms available except closer to them and smaller. No apology or attempt at making us feel better about the situation. The room was spotless, as was the hotel .The breakfast was very good and generous. Basically if you want a bland but clean basic hotel not unlike the big chains with no personality, quirks, heart or staff that actually really care or make this a happy special stay, this is the place for you ...oh and to be woken before 8am in the morning with banging and drilling ......go for it WE won't be back. …
