We had a wonderful stay at Acorn Hotel and received a warm welcome by Diane who was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We had asked for a quiet room and she made sure it was located at the end of the corridor with only neighbours on one side and little noise from the street. The room itself was comfortable with good beds, also for tall people, and a well-equipped bathroom. The building is old, so we sometimes did hear our neighbour quite well, but everybody adhered to the hotel policy of being quiet after 10 p.m., so no problem. The breakfast was fine, with the possibility of a full English breakfast as well as yoghurt, cereals and fruits. The hotel is located in a beautiful residential area only 10 minutes walk from the city centre, which is easily reached by a pedestrian bridge over the high way. If you walk in the other direction you'll find yourself within 10 minutes in the University of Glasgow area with a nice park to walk through. We came to Glasgow to visit our son who studies here and Acorn Hotel is really a place where we will come back gladly during our next visit!

The hotel is in a great location for walking into the City Centre. If you're driving there is parking on-road right outside the hotel for a small charge from reception, I had no problems getting a space - it's also easy to access being close to the M8. If you're a whisky fan it's a very short walk to the Bon Accord and a short walk to the City Centre. If you're a parkrun tourist it's just a 20min or so gently uphill jog to the lovely Ruchill parkrun - great views of the City from there. The reception from Diane was excellent, friendly and helpful. The single room suited my needs perfectly as a solo traveller and was clean and well equipped. The only thing I'd flag up is that you are likely to get noise from the adjacent rooms and from outside. Ear plugs recommended if this bothers you.

The highlight of our 2-night stay (8th and 9th Oct) was Diane in reception who really went that extra mile to help us out during our stay. She is an asset to the hotel. We also loved that all staff 'muck in' to help with breakfasts, cleaning etc, they're a lovely team of ladies who all made us feel really at home. Our room had lovely high ceilings, bedside tables with drawers and a working overhead light for each bedside. Lovely shower/bathroom, spacious room and tastefully decorated. Nice cooked breakfast too despite a tiny kitchen area. Happy to re-book next time we go to Glasgow.

We were three cyclists on a tour. It was the most homely hotel on our week long ride. They even put our bikes in their boiler room ...going that extra mile - as one says lovely location next to Kelvingrove park & very central. Rooms were clean and tidy & breakfast was great too. Nothing bad about the place & reasonably priced
