What a great place to stay! The staff were fabulous and extremely helpful. Mirela was an amazing host and a fantastic chef. The breakfast was incredible and was a wonderful way start to the day. The complimentary sherry was a great way to end the day. The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The location of the guest house was perfect, as I was able to walk to the bus terminal to join my Islay tour. My stay was excellent, and I would not hesitate to recommend Ben Cruachan.

Oh my goodness! Just book this place! You won’t be sorry. It’s close to everything in Edinburgh. We walked to the Royal Mile, the castle, Holyrood, and a few other places. You can also Uber or use public transportation. The place itself is sweet, the hostess, Mirela, was great! And she’s a good cook too! The breakfast is incredible. Orange juice, coffee, teas, silky oatmeal with honey, whiskey and/or double cream (all added by you), or you can have cold cereal, but why? Then we followed that with eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms and bacon. They have more choices, this is what we chose. We loved our stay and would highly recommend this place!

Lovely friendly staff at a lovely quiet guesthouse, on a surprisingly quiet street — yet it’s right off a main road stuffed with excellent independent restaurants. (Thanks Mirela for your amazing recommendations!) There are also two mini supermarkets within a couple of minutes’ walk, and the location overall is very central, an easy walk from the station/to the main attractions. V comfy bed, nice & hot shower with strong pressure, good heating system in the bedroom (a series of qualities rare to find in Edinburgh hotels!). A very warm welcome with treats and tipple. Incredible breakfast, both the full Scottish and the pancakes were absolutely delicious, with an excellent Scottish playlist coming out of a speaker. Lovely garden to sit in, and Calton Hill very close by for greenery with scenery! We will be back…. …

Ollie and Mirela were wonderful from the minute we checked in. They are genuine people who care about you as people and care that you have a wonderful stay. The breakfast is amazing. The room spacious and clean. We spent around 850 US dollars for five days. The fancy hotels, ie Balmoral, can cost you 2700 for those five days. You are never in the room so why pay those kind of prices when you can have individual services with a great breakfast and genuine people at Ben Cruachan guest house. If we ever come back we will stay here again. Ollie and Mirela were great to talk with and get to know as people. I never leave reviews but felt compelled to leave one after our experience with Ollie and Mirela. The place is great and recently remodeled but Ollie and Mirela make the stay along with their wonderful breakfast made from their heart. I can’t say enough. Make sure you’re in shape prior to visiting Edinburgh as everything is up or down a hill. Just some advice. If we are ever back in Edinburgh we will most definitely stay here again! This was my first solo holiday and first time visiting Edinburgh. Before I had even confirmed my stay Mirela was really helpful in answering some queries I had about accessibility in the guesthouse and rooms (as I have some walking and balance difficulties). When I arrived I was given a very warm welcome by Mirela and throughout my stay she was super helpful, able to advise me on travelling to various places on my itinerary. This was invaluable given the bus routes over the course of the week had been heavily diverted (and at short notice, according to locals) due to work on the tram route in Leith Walk. When the diversions meant the to pick up the route to the Botanic Gardens from the guesthouse was way too far for me she very kindly booked me a local taxi. My room (room 4) was spotlessly clean, the bed firm but comfy. There was tea and coffee, biscuits and a kettle handy to make for a late evening or early morning cuppa and the complimentary sherry and choccies in the room a lovely thoughtful extra. The shower was roomy and perfectly powerful. The two course breakfast (yes really!) was DELICIOUS and I slowly worked my way through the menu during my stay. Try the porridge with whisky! If I had to pick a favourite I’d pick the pancakes, but it was all fabulous. On my last day, unfortunately I had a crazily early return flight time, which meant that I was not able to have a sit down breakfast on my last morning, but Mirela and Ollie very kindly put me together a packed breakfast to take with me, which was incredibly thoughtful. Thank you so much for making me feel so welcome. I will definitely be back! Footnote: Some handy info for anyone else who has mobility struggles: I stayed in room 4, which on the ground floor level. In the bathroom there is a shallow step up to the shower. There are no grabrails in the shower or outside it but it is quite spacious and I personally did not feel unsteady standing in it. The breakfast room is in the basement which is accessible via a conventional staircase of about 15 steps. It is not very steep but the steps taper at the ends as the staircase curves. There is a handrail available on one side and also the banister rail on the other. There is one step up into the porch and entrance into the guesthouse. …

Had an excellent stay. Mirela was so friendly and helpful giving us places to visit and walk. I honestly could not fault our stay. Very clean with a lovely warm atmosphere. The breakfast we had this morning was spot on too, great portion size and tasted fantastic. Would wholeheartedly come back and stay again.

Very welcoming, Ollie is keen to show you around the property to make you feel at home. Decorated with style, very clean and quiet, it's the perfect stay. The location is great, close to the center, easily reachable on foot or by bus (and when the tram will be finished, it will be even better !). The bedrooms are big and cosy, with everything you need. Breakfast was amazing, lots of options and very tasty! I would totally recommend this place to anyone looking for a cosy stay in Edinburgh!

We had a lovely stay here it was warm and cosy and the breakfast was delicious I loved how you could tailor your order on the pre-order cards the night before (I really recommend the traditional Scottish oats with honey, cream and whiskey!) Special shout-out to Ollie and his 10/10 guest service he was super helpful and friendly giving local recommendations and it was lovely to have a chat at breakfast with him about our plans for the day ahead. A perfect location if you want to be away from the main loud and busy areas of the city but it is only a straight road 15 minute walk into the heart of the city.

Just spent 3 nights at this lovely B&B which is about a 15 minute walk from the centre. Our room was really cosy, immaculately clean and had a huge, modern bathroom. The breakfast was the best we’ve ever had - choice of a starter (we had the porridge with honey and cream) which was so nice and then there’s plenty of choice for the main breakfast - smoked salmon, pancakes …. But we had the full Scottish breakfast. They had a vegetarian option with so much choice. A special mention though to Ollie and everyone who worked at the B&B. So welcoming and genuinely interested in their guests. If we visit Edinburgh again we would have no hesitation in staying here again - infact we’re looking forward to returning. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
