Really nice hotel and great location right in the centre of the Royal mile. Staff very helpful and one in particular went above and beyond to help us. Really comfortable bed and everything was spotlessly clean.
Great location. 10 to 15 mins to access most the the places of interest. 10 min walk to train station with luggage pushed is still acceptable. Wifi connectivity and cleanliness of room is good. Only we could expect little confusion during the checking in and...More
Nice Hotel, free Internet Access, complies with laws for the disabled, such as ramps
Delicious food in the restaurant and its bar is a nice place to get together and linger
Close to the Royal Mile, it is also a pet friendly hotel
Great hotel in a great location with friendly and helpful staff, we stayed as a couple on a sightseeing tour of Edinburgh and would highly recommend this hotel as it is in the perfect location to see all Edinburgh has to offer
Fantastic breakfast! Great location, about 10min walk to Waverly train station. Clean decent-sized room & value for money hotel in the heart of Edinburgh. Stone's throw to the Royal Mile. Staff were friendly. Would stay here againMore

Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the

royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
As previous answer, August is the time of the Edinburgh international festival, which runs throughout the month, accommodation is at a premium then , so booking as far in advance as possible is recommended
