We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The location is perfect to explore the Royal Mile from Holyrood Palace to the Edinburgh Castle. Our room was very nice and the daily breakfast was excellent. The staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. They were especially helpful with a medical form that we had to print and scan. We will definitely stay here again next time we visit Edinburgh.

Hotel's Favourite
Check-in was seamless and quick. Very nice and helpful staff. We stayed on the 5th floor overlooking hunters square. Room was very quiet. Bed was really comfortable. Hotel is very central and just off the Royal Mile and close to both the Castle and Museum. It was wonderful to see the city coming back to life again. Now is a great time to visit. I really enjoyed our stay in this hotel and intend to come back in the near future. Very enjoyable experience.

My daughter and I recently spent three nights at the Ibis Edinburgh Centre Royal Mile in Edinburgh, Scotland. The room was included in a Gate 1 tour, so I cannot really comment on the price. The hotel is located across from Hunter Square in Old Town. The location is ideal. The general midpoint of the Royal Mile is about a block away; the main Waverly train station is about three blocks away. There are many coffee shops, restaurants (eat-in & carry-out) and shops in the area. I would describe this Ibis as a less expensive boutique hotel. There is a small combined lobby with some seating, a registration desk (more like an open counter) and cocktail bar. The dining area, where breakfast is served, is off to the side. Wifi is free. Check-in was courteous and efficient. We were assigned room 109. Like most European hotels, the room was small by US standards. But truthfully, it was one of the smallest rooms I’ve ever encountered. As is common in Europe, you have to put your room key/card in a slot when you enter to have power in the room. You also need to use your card to access the elevator. The room was clean and decorated in what I would consider hipster contemporary. There was no separate closet, but rather an unusual closed-off section in the corner with an attached clothes rod with wooden hangers. (See picture.) Communal irons and ironing boards are in in alcove in the outside hallway. No in-room safe, refrigerator nor telephone. You can elect to go green and forgo daily maid service. Furniture consisted of a bent wood desk, small console table, one bedside table and a bucket-type chair. An electric teapot and assorted coffee/tea fixings were on the desk. There also was a charging power cube with USB ports and outlets on the desk. No luggage rack. Our standard double/twin room came with two twin beds. Each bed had only one pillow and a very warm duvet. (Extra pillows were in the corner “closet”). The beds were a little firm, but comfortable. Each bed had an Individual reading light and electric outlet. There also was a large flat-screen TV, backed by some whimsical wallpaper. (See picture.) Two negatives about the room. First, soundproofing was negligible - we could hear practically every conversation of anyone passing on the walkway under the window. Second, there literally was no free floor space to set our luggage without it being underfoot.
The bathroom was fairly small, with neglible counter space around the sink. A hair dryer was in the corner “closet”. Wall-mounted hand soap and hair/body wash (in the shower) were the toiletries The glass shower enclosure was normal-sized, but the floor was a bit slippery. Water pressure and temperature were fine. Bath towels were generous; no washcloths though. Breakfast was included with the room and was served off the lobby. The offerings consisted of the usual combination of hot & cold items. Overall, we were very pleased with the location of the hotel and would recommend it for anyone wanting to explore Old Town Edinburgh. The price you pay would be a small room, but chances are you wouldn’t spend much time in the room anyway. For more specific details and pictures, visit the hotel’s website.

Very central, 10 mins walking distance from Princes Street drop off. Half way down the Royal Mile, up to the castle or down to Holyrood. Lots of pubs and restaurants meters away, and yet room was nice and quiet. Breakfast great, room was very comfortable, everything worked out well. Staff efficient and polite

First point -- this hotel is in a wonderful location. Just a few steps off the Royal Mile, close to Waverley Station, the airport trams, the Scotlands People Centre, everything. Rooms were clean and comfy, breakfast offered a decent variety, and the front-desk staff were really exceptional -- every one of them was welcoming, friendly, helpful, and efficient. Thanks!

Super friendly and helpful staff. Clean, high quality, modern room with hairdryer. Comfy bed. It’s in a brilliant location for all the sights. Nice bar area with a good selection of drinks. The staff here made our stay… they went out of their way to help us and remembered who we were. We will return very soon as a result.

We arrived pre check in time absolutely soaking wet as we walked from the tram stop, we thought we would be able to leave our suitcase until check in time......but no! The amazing receptionist (didn't get her name) said she would check if our room was ready and allowed us to check in!! This was very much appreciated and allowed us to settle in and get changed into dry clothes before we explored the City. The location of this hotel is fantastic for the old town, the Castle and Grassmsrket and there are many restaurants and shops just outside the door. It is not far from the train station and was walkable from Princes Street tram stop. The room was quiet, clean and comfortable, yes it is not a large room and little things like dimmer lighting and a make up mirror in the bathroom would have improved it, but for a Central City Hotel it is very good value for money. Cannot comment on Breakfast as we decided to eat out as there was so much on offer nearby. I have given a 5 star rating, this isn't a 5 star hotel but for what you are paying for a City Hotel what you get is well worth 5 stars! Thank you!

Great hotel located in the heart of everything. Rooms are small but perfect for a solo traveler, it had everything I needed. Very clean and updated. Staff was excellent, very helpful. Breakfast was good and had a verity of options. Everything was in walking distance. Just understand Edinburgh has a lot of hills and steps. Public transportation is wonderful if needed. Restaurants and pubs are just outside the entrance of the hotel. ATM is just down the street. I felt very safe in this hotel. Christmas was a perfect time to visit, not to crowed.

I could write a lot about what was wrong about the place (check out Booking.com for recent reviews for enlightenment - I had to fill out a survey about our stay). There wasn't much that made it spectacular, other than it was in a good location. If you're normally used to staying in 4-star hotels, standards and expectations are far higher in these places compared to a 3-star hotel. I won't be doing that again.
