Stayed two nights in January .Good location, quiet rooms, with free parking . I get cold easily so the room had two heaters we cranked up. Couldn’t try the breakfast as started too late for us to get to appointment . But we did order room service which was nice .
Stayed a couple of times before, it's a very nice hotel in really lovely area of Edinburgh. Lots of local pubs and restaurants. Room was clean and spacious and staff very welcoming. A shame the local tram works are not finished yet. I would recommend to use Google Maps for navigation as Sat Nav brought me to a closed off road.
Our first of many trips to Edinburgh for family visits. Chose Malmaison Leith for location and reputation. Our high expectations were exceeded in every respect. Lauren and her colleagues in Reception were most attentive , Housekeeping incl Mark were of the highest standards and engaging. The location is great only minutes from Britannia and Leith centre and a quick bus/taxi into Edinburgh. Thank you to all!
Tired and average but probably once thought of as being a fancy hotel. The rooms are in need of refurbishment and a deep clean. With the lighting being so dim, your ability to use an iron is near impossible as you walk around the room trying to determine if there are still creases in your shirt. You then walk downstairs for your 15/18£ breakfast, I having stayed in over 12 hotels in the last 12 months expected a buffet breakfast but alas no. If you want anything hot, you must order. If you expected to get on with your day you are left glaring at the coffee machine and cereal while you wait for an eternity (slight exaggeration I know but it’s the morning and I need to get on with things. Lighter colours, new carpet, a new fan in the bathroom, deep clean, fix and sort the smell in the lift and some lights which are able to light up a room. Personally I would just recommend a chain if you want a good…
Dirty room, clearly hadn’t been hoovered as I found a hair band next to the bed in full view. Side of bath had never had a wipe over in years by the looks of it , you have to get in the bath to put the plug in and turn on taps due to a silly half shower screen that only moved one way ,bed was uncomfortable and pillows were flatter than the towels! I asked the room attendant for a clean towel only to be told no go to reception , very expensive really for what it was. Breakfast was good with attentive staff that is the only plus on my review sadly
Great location and easy to get bus into Edinburgh in about 20 minutes. Nice room with large comfortable bed and pillows. Only grip was dodgy toilet seat but grinned and bearded it as only staying 2 nights. Staff attentive and reception very helpful. Quality hotel and good for a nice break in Edinburgh area.
Had a brilliant time away. Was in a suite. Great big shower, roll top bath and a very comfy bed. Really liked the room. Staff are really friendly. Service was slow in the restaurant but that suited us. Was in no hurry so I personally enjoyed the slower pace. Food was excellent.
We had a two night stay in a Club room. We hadn’t visited Malmaison Edinburgh for approx 4-5 years but having stayed on a few occasions prior to this, we were looking forward to returning. Our room was clean and spacious (117) but chilly, and although I turned the heating up it was a bit temperamental- but it wasn’t a big issue as we didn’t spend much time in the room. We had dinner one night and whilst it was tasty it was only afterward that I realised some items had been missing from our dishes- however given that we had finished our meals, I didn’t raise this with our server. Service was very good in the restaurant but it wasn’t especially busy. On our second night we unfortunately had a fire alarm which had us out of the room for two hours, however, after a time we were allowed to sit in the bar and we were kept informed and eventually coffee and croissants were provided- which was welcome. So it all sounds okay…And it was- but just okay, and like others I felt the hotel was looking tired and in need of ‘something’. It didn’t feel as magical as our first visit some years ago. I guess we have to make some concession to the fact the the hospitality industry is trying hard to fight it’s way back to normality following the pandemic. But when people are choosing your establishment in which to spend their hard earned cash, and not small amounts either given increased prices, you’ve got to provide a certain ‘something’ and for us, that was lacking this time at Malmaison.…
Booked a standard room but were told after a lengthy wait at reception that we had requested an upgrade - we had not, but for £7.00 we took it anyway. Room was in the attic up a smelly stair, there was no view and the wind was howling. Very cold with a bath sitting at one small window. Asked to be moved and were given a club room, which was much better, but very dark. We were in a hurry to go out so did not get a chance to look at it properly. No heaters in the bathroom and BLOOD all over the floor, obviously the smelly cleaner (we tried to pass him very quickly on the stairs) had not seen it in the gloom. My breakfast was OK, but my husband's full English seemed to have quite a few bits missing, and the fried egg was like nothing I've ever seen before. He asked for it to be replaced and the new one arrived just as he was finishing everything else, and it was so salty he could not have eaten it anyway. This place used to be excellent, but has totally lost the place - we will never be back …
We got told the bedroom was cleaned, when it was filthy, thick with dust! Everywhere had dust, even on the blinds and curtains, which caused my partner to constantly too sneeze and cough!! Who has asthma !!! There was commotion in the room next door which woke us up and sadly the hotel managers/staff never apologised to us regarding it. Another thing the sheets had blood on them, which get changed and covered in stains, pubic hairs or mattress protector !!! Mould on the bathroom ceiling! Good food and the bar was very clean.. compared to the room!! Cleanliness let this hotel down a lot !! Not worth the money they charge!
