I stay in several Marriott properties, and the AC Birmingham certainly makes its guests welcome. They clearly look at my Bonvoy profile before allocating a room, as the allocated room was an excellent match to all my profile requirements. Check-in is efficient and provided all required info. The room was spacious with good hanging space, laptop safe, kettle, coffee-pod machine, etc - if there is one grumble is that the drawers were full of "hotel bits n pieces" and it would be good to keep these clear for guest's belongings. TV included Sky which was good as it provided Sky Sports and Eurosport options. Good shower with good range of cosmetics. Breakfast is a plentiful breakfast with something to please all tastes. Dirty crockery was promptly cleared from tables. The hotel is well situated for Mailbox amenities, Tesco for snacks, etc and 10 minute walk to New St rail station. I'll be back!

Another excellent overnight stay. From the lovely smell when you arrive in reception, friendly staff. The room as always very clean. The bed is so comfortable however did feel that the pillows were small this time for a king size bed, have these changed?. Good night sleep and filling breakfast, remembered to order my eggs first !

Dirty bedding upon arrival that I didn’t realise until 11:45 at night had clearly not been changed (I was a new arrival to this room, so it had clearly been slept in by someone else). Rang reception and someone very bluntly told me ‘we can give you some new bedding’ - no apology or help. When he arrived I showed him that there were clearly crumbs & hairs in the bed that did not belong to me. My feet were also filthy from walking bare foot on the dirty floor there (I had showered prior to getting into bed). The person that came was clearly security and had no experience in changing beds. The fact that I wasn’t offered a new room when mine was clearly dirty is slightly baffling to me but I went with it. The poor security guard clearly had no idea how to change a bed or what went where. He had brought a duvet cover as the bottom sheet which clearly didn’t fit and spent about 5 minutes trying to make it work. I then asked if he could just look at changing the rooms, I was told this wasn’t possible but usually there is a buffer in hotels from experience if there is an issue so they should have a handful of rooms spare for this exact reason. He then returns to reception to see if this is possible, taking all the bedding with him. Another 15 minutes go by and I hear nothing from reception so call them and ask them to just bring the correct bedding so I can change it myself. Another 10 minutes go by and still no sign. I ring reception again and a different man picks up this time who is pretty rude and unhelpful, when I say I’ll come speak to them in the morning and get a refund he puts the phone down on me. The security guard reappears - but this time he has a new double duvet, with no cover on it, a double duvet cover for the bottom but no bottom sheet. He advises me that there are no more sheets available and I will need to either sleep without a bottom sheet or sleep with the duvet cover with nothing on. I ask if he can just go take a duvet fully made off a room that isn’t being used as at this point I do not want to pack my stuff up and change rooms. Miraculously he appears with a proper duvet, sheet on, around 10 minutes later. All in it’s taken me about an hour to get the correct, clean bedding - now making it 12:35am - I made the bed myself and put the pillow cases on. I understand that it may not be security’s job ‘to be housekeeping’ (as per the helpful receptionist), but equally the fact that the room was not just changed when it was clearly dirty, and the reception staff were so rude (I actually got 0 apology for the room even being dirty) is unacceptable.

Chose to visit the AC Marriott at the Mailbox in Birmingham because they had positive review regarding gluten free. Being coeliac and dairy free means I have to be super careful so I checked by calling the hotel before booking to check they could accommodate a GF/DF breakfast. They assured me they could so I booked and stated the need for GF/DF breakfast on the reservation. Just to be save I also rang a couple of days before arriving and spoke with Daniel at length about whether they had GF/DF bread that could be toasted in a separate toaster or toaster bag to avoid cross contamination and what options I could eat, he assured me I could eat all these things. When I arrived and checked in, the young man at reception tried to sell me breakfast even though it was already ordered and paid for. I repeated that I had dietary requirements and had spoke at length with Daniel about it. We went to our room and had a very poor nights sleep on thin lumpy mattresses. The linen was clean but was marked and mine had holes. The room was clean but a bit scruffy. I was disappointed as the reviews led me to believe this would be excellent, it wasn't. Came down to breakfast and they had fruit and one 30g bag of corn flakes that I could eat. They said nothing else was safe for even though I had called twice before check in and included the requirement on the reservation. What really grated was that it was the same person Daniel who had assured me that I could eat toast and bacon and eggs etc safely who told this lovely young girl to tell me I couldn't safely eat anything. I am furious and will be writing to head office. If they had been honest, I'd have just booked elsewhere. This isn't cheap and it's not worth it!

AC HOTELS MARRIOTT - Birmingham is perfect choice for many reasons in my opinion; it is located in the heart of city centre, 5-7 minutes from new street station, beautiful view, it is surrounded by the most attractive spots in Birmingham like the canals, restaurants, the mailbox building, the love bridge as i call it where you can put a key there with your love, and cafes. It also has one of my favourite cafes “Black Sheep cafe” which is genius idea” and a Luxurious Bar inside the lobby which serves Drinks and Cocktails that are prepared by experienced Mixologists so whatever you would like to drink is available. The staff (Zack, Danial, Addie, Kara and all of them (i don’t know all the names) are PROFESSIONAL in customer Service, so friendly, always smiling, they respect everyone, always polite and offer to help everyone. I also like the vibes of the lobby lounge itself; it’s organised and designed in a way that is suitable for friends/family gatherings and also for business purposes like working or studying, it has two large sharing tables for individuals and groups uses beside other seating options together in an open space with perfect lighting all the times that feels comfortable, not to mention the options of drinks and coffees as mentioned above, and one can order food from different restaurants by ordering through the bar. The place is always full of life and energy. On a Hygiene level, the whole place is always clean and smells nice. Very great choice, Highly recommended.
