We stayed at the Crown Plaza Newcastle for 2 nights because we came to see Bryan adams. Our check-in did not start well. We was queueing when we got to the desk the assistant said can we wait for her colleague as she was going on her break. Her colleague was assisting another person so we had to wait longer. We was in a hurry because we were running late. From that point Rejie the hotelduty manager(I hope I've spelt this correct) took control he took over with the check-in and quickly escorted to our room, taking our bags. He was so efficient he made it a breeze, !!. He also gave us a late checkout on our leaving date. When we went to go to the concert we passed the front desk and Alex the reception manager approached us, she apologised for the girl who took her break and said that will never happen again. Over the time we spent at the hotel while we were in reception we observed Alex at work she was so professional and made check-in work. She's a credit to the company. As For the hotel it's self location is fantastic for the arena and the train station. The facilities are very good. Oh and breakfast was outstanding 👌

I've stayed at the Crown Plaza Newcastle quite a few times, including the first few night from the day they opened, but this visit was very disappointing. I am an IHG Platinum Elite member. I was not offered a upgrade. When I asked and emailed if I could have access to the lounge, I was advised it is decided at check in, if there is space. My email (is still) unreplied. I wanted to use the lounge to do a bit of work and not bother my partner in the room. Whenever I passed the lounge, it was empty. The room was looking a bit tired with stains on the carpets, and old fashion TV. Although the hotel is very close to the station, it is a bit of a trek to walk around to it. however one feels quite unsafe walking pass all the homeless people in the tunnel under the railway bridges, filled also with fumes of all the taxis waiting. Not a pleasant way to get to the hotel - especially late at night. We ordered a round of drinks at the bar. Although I was the only person ordering at the bar, the four staff behind the bar was mucking around while one was on his phone. I was left waiting while they finished fooling around. I don't mind waiting if there is a queue, but if there are no one waiting, the hospitably industry should not complain about suffering. This is the the first hotel, where there is no complimentary water offered in the room. There was water (an other goods) in the fringe, but with a not any thing that is move in the fridge will be charged. When one arrives back late at night, one have to give ones room number and surnames to be able to get access - like in a cheap youth hostel. Most other luxury hotels that is concerned about late night security, allow access at the front door with ones room access card. Not sure this made me feel save... When I checked out I was asked if it was a 10/10 stay, to which I did not reply. My queries were not met nor any reply received. Issues should be sorted at the time, not afterwards. Definitely not the 'can do' attitude anymore. My loyalty to the IHG brand was definitely not valued. I've stayed 7 out of the last 13 night in IHG hotels, and this was by far the most disappointing and not sure if I could recommend this hotel based on my last disappointing experience, especially when my questions were not answered at the time by the hotel.

Stayed here twice in three weeks . Very polite staff throughout , great bar, dinner was extremely good value and the buffet breakfast is perfectly acceptable of its type with very helpful breakfast staff. However on both occasions I wasn’t told re the spa or club lounge even though I stayed on the floor with the club lounge hence why it was empty on the morning I stumbled across it! Despite a lovely room there wasn’t any soap which didn’t bother me until I tried to use the internal phone with no answer at all from room service, or house keeping or guest services I don’t actually think they exist at this hotel so tried reservations and got the front desk who didn’t answer but just left the phone off the hook so I could hear the next check in conversation. Eventually had to go down to reception to get the soap which had been such a minor oversight originally. Finally the fire exit door was locked on my 6 th floor. I could see that there is a smash button to open it but I wonder if that works when there is no electricity because of a fire!! I just would like fire exit doors to be open when you re on the 6 floor and also have a key control corridor. I would stay again as it’s so convenient for so many things and only did this review to highlight my concern, hopefully unwarranted, of locked fire doors.

What a great hotel, looks great very stylish. Rooms are a decent size, bed is comfy and the bathroom is big and has everything you need. Mirrors, fridge and hairdryer all available in the room. I used the gym which was a decent enough size and had lots of free weights. The cocktail bar is lovely downstairs, really nice to chill and have a few drinks in. Reception very helpful. Had a few pastries in the morning which were nice too. Would stay here again.

I went to this place with my friend for just one night. I have called up in advance and been told that the hotel has its own parking area. Arrived there and been told by the receptionist that they don’t have a parking and there is parking next door.(A woman named ALEX) Upon arrival Alex told me that the system is broke and she can’t check me in. So I decided to seat down and wait. Surprisingly after 2 minutes a girl checked in in front of my eyes and got her keys. I decided to go and park my car and comeback. When I came back there was a long queue and had to wait again. During checking in She(ALEX her name) told me that my reservation is not complete and asking to see proof of reservation and proof of payment which was really surprising as I didn’t see anyone else been told to do so. We asked for twin bed room as we were 2 mates but Been told that they are already doing us a favour and giving us a King bed.(I have no Idea how that helps my situation). Overall the attitude of receptionists and her manager Alex wasn’t acceptable and the experience was shocking and bad. I think they need to realise who is the servant and who is the customer in their work space. As my interaction with her in this hotel was my first in Newcastle it really affected my idea of the city and made me not liking it.
