Good location but that’s pretty much the only reason why I might stay here again. The lobby is deceiving compared to the quality of the rest of the hotel. The lobby is decorated, modern and the receptionists are friendly, whereas the rooms are of a lower standard. Everything in the rooms seemed pretty miniature, the bath was tiny and so was the bed. The bed was actually a SMALL double, not double like advertised. The bathroom was in dire need of a refurb (or even a lick of paint would make a difference). Sinkholes and toilet handle was rusted so bad they were flaky, and around the toilet was grubby walls. Traffic from outside our window kept me up most of the night - but that was expected due to the location we chose. Some of the light switches didn’t work, and even when they did, they were very dim. There was no information book for the room so we had to pretty much work everything out by ourselves. The bar prices were extortionate! We bought one bottle of peroni and one double vodka and lemonade and it cost £16. So we drank elsewhere after those where it was much cheaper. The bar staff were also a little grumpy, and the female staff member seemed to be picking on what I assume was a new staff member. There were 4 bar staff all together twiddling their thumbs, but 3 of them disappeared when a huge crowd of customers came in. The choice of cocktails were also awful. However, the receptionists were very nice people and very helpful! The hotel also offers a discount for the car park across the road which was much appreciated.…
We recently had to cancel at the last minute due to the rail strike. Although they had no obligation to refund our money, they were kind enough to do so. I will remember this next time I book. Top marks!
Room missing a curtain, excited to be woken up at 4am by the sunrise. Was offered to move myself to the 7th floor at 00:30 when my friends were already asleep. Would expect somewhere like this to at least have curtains........Premier Inn always has curtains. ...you decide
I checked in with the reception for 4-nights - a very average welcome was received. I was allocated a room on the second floor —a typical Jury’s Inn room. Nothing wow. Cleanliness was good, but the cleaners had missed underneath one of the draws, which meant residue came onto my leg when using the desk area. The restaurant and bar were serving the standard Jury’s Inn processed food. I’m not sure why the restaurant had an entirely different menu format when compared to the bar menu (standard food menu found in Jury’s Inns). The soup of the day surely must be the soup of the year! Anyway… the service varied by night, but generally was acceptable. One team member that must be new advised me of a 45-minute wait for food, which turned out to be 10 to 15 minutes. I also heard the same staff member advising that the fish and chips were unavailable as the fish was currently defrosting…! It then suddenly became available 5-minutes later. Breakfast was okay – disappointing that there was only one coffee machine working, especially with a sizeable elderly tour group visiting that generally need a bit longer. On the last night, some of the guests were rather rowdy in the early hours of the morning. One of them knocking for ages on another door. Not the hotel's fault but something to be mindful of – it was a Thursday. To top things off, I was woken at 0830 by the sound of the adjacent door lock being drilled out and replaced – cheers!…
We stayed at this hotel as part of a coach trip. Let me start with the good bits from the hotel… The breakfast was nice and tasty and the reception area was clean and well decorated with the hotel being in close proximity to the city centre and quayside. Now the bad. On arrival we were given a half-hearted welcome and given our keys with little instructions on where to find the room. When we arrived into the room, we had two beds in there; a very small “double” and a single bed. They were tiny and nothing like I’ve seen as a double before. The bathroom was tired and outdated with a missing bin, broken towel rail and ingrained dirt in the shower. When moving the bed we found rubbish, including an opened condom wrapper and the room appeared generally dirty. We complained to reception who passed us on to a housekeeping manager who moved us into another room and offered us a complimentary bottle of wine. The new room was equally as tired and outdated with small beds, but at least it was clean. The bathroom door was broken however, with the catch not working, making it unable to be closed and provide simple privacy. This had to be reported three times before being repaired 3 days (and another complimentary drinks voucher) later!!! These vouchers came in handy with the expensive drinks in the bar - £5.25 for a bottle of beer! One of the nights there was an event at the Arena, which meant drunken guests wandering the corridors late at night with the poor soundproofing meaning that every word could be heard in the rooms, making it hard to sleep. When it came to evening meals, these were awful. Portions were particularly small and were of poor quality, clearly using cheap cash-and-carry ingredients and catering cakes. The meals were undercooked and overcooked, sometimes on the same plate and often lacked any form of flavour. One particular favourite was a chicken curry with dry overcooked chicken, undercooked hard rice and a tasteless curry sauce. One pudding was so small, they split a single slice of catering chocolate fudge cake into two with both me and my wife sharing two thin layers each, I had the top half, she had the bottom half!!! Cleanliness in the restaurant also seemed a low priority as we often witnessed a slight swipe with a cloth on a vacated table. This wipe would sometimes include a cleaning solution, sometimes not. Very worrying given the current climate!! Overall a hugely disappointing visit and a hotel I would never want to visit again. My advice, absolutely go somewhere else if you can until changes are made there!!!…

we had a fantastic stay good location nice staff brian was very helpfull on reception the only let down was a pizza we bought and it was not very good we should have sent it back near railway station and next door to the utilita arena also very good breakfast and exellent rooms
Stayed for 5 days as part of a National Holiday trip to the North of England. Found all of the staff to be friendly and professional. Room was adequate but was very stuffy at times. Food - The self service breakfast was very good but the evening meal was spoilt by the delay between each course.
Good for one night bar prices very expensive £7.50 for 1 25ml gin. No prices on bar menu overall all right for one night stay to attend a concert Room basic very warm bathroom very dated hotel needs upgraded Breakfast was ok had something for everyone
Stayed for one night to attend a concert in the Arena. Really is a perfect location as its a short walk away. Staff were lovely and friendly. Bar prices a little steep but that's just hotels. Room was clean and comfortable bed and a window which actually opened slightly to let fresh air in. Check out 12 which is always a bonus. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
