Working in and around Newcastle so booked the Hotel Indigo. Good location with parking but glad I got there before 5pm as with rush hour traffic the local roads would made it challenging to find even with sat nav. Underground parking available but very tight spaces. Hotel very nice with friendly staff and comfortable and good sized room. Lots of bars in the area and a short walk down to the river. Ate int restaurant and pasta was very nice and chocolate brownie for pudding was perfect. Will stay here again if in the city. I stayed on Tuesday so assume at the weekends very busy location.

I have stayed in Indigo hotels in London and Glasgow so I know to expect nice detailing of the rooms and decent food. I was not disappointed. The hotel is about 5 mins from the central railway station and a few seconds to the main shopping streets. The area around the hotel is quiet despite being central. I had a pleasant check in and was soon in my room. I was surprised to find a decked balcony with two seats and a table outside, nice in the summer, less so in winter but none the less a nice touch.

The room was well designed, lots of brochures on the area and the fridge had a free local beer to try. The room and bathroom we’re very clean. The bathroom had a walk-in double shower, loo and sink. A decent light was above the sink and mirror. The free toiletries were nice: I found the shampoo very drying on my skin but that’s life.

I had a decent nights sleep and rooms are quiet. I asked reception for advice a few times and it was always friendly. Checkout was as friendly as checkin. I would be back.

Good afternoon Kildermorie, Thank you so much for the fantastic review and your kind words about the hotel - I am glad you felt welcome in the hotel. Please be sure to return to see how nice a local beer would be on the balconies during the summer! Kind regards, James

As a result of a recommendation from a colleague we chose to stay overnight at the Indigo Hotel in Newcastle. The hotel is very well situated to the central station and the city centre. From booking the hotel until check out the service we received was of a high standard.

We arrived early and left our cases with the reception staff who were very helpful and gave us useful information regarding the local amenities and places to visit. The hotel was extremely clean and the bedrooms were very good and we had a huge bed. The rooms looked as if they had recently been decorated and the facilities were very good.

The check in time is 3 pm but you have until 12 to check out. This offers you flexibility. The room rate was extremely competitive for such a high quality room and we would certainly stay in this hotel again

Stayed here for one night August 2021 hotel is right in the city centre close to the train station.
Check in was easy and staff were so helpful, we parked our car in the car park adjacent to the hotel which was great as we could leave it there until 6pm the following day for £14 which was great for 28 hours parking in the city.
The room was very clean and comfortable with hairdryer iron, fridge and bathroom was stocked with shower wash and lovely fluffy white towels.
Large comfy bed and flat screen TV
The staff were so friendly and helpful when asking for directions and recommendations for places to eat.
We were originally booked in for our evening meal in their Marco Pierre White restaurant but sadly it was closed due to staffing issues.
Breakfast the following morning was delicious, great choice of hot and cold food and again the staff couldn't do enough to help.
We will definitely be back!

Easy to find just across from train station. Check in good and quick. Lovely welcoming staff who promised us the room with the best view - see photo
Had arrived early so enjoyed cocktails in the lounge whilst waiting. Great cocktail menu and the drinks really good
First appearance of room was nice though layout could be better. Lots of space at one end then cluttered at the other.
Bathroom clean but mirror far to high on wall. Lots of scuff marks on wall and feature wall paper peeling off. View from window not great. So called complimentary mini bar only had water and biscuits that you would expect on a standard tea tray.
Dinner at Marco Pierre whites which is on-site was lovely
Worst nights sleep ever with a roll together mattress and poor pillows that kept falling down the gap behind the bed.
Showering the next morning found 2 controls. One for rainfall shower or hand held, the other for temperature. The latter however turned off the lights! Not great to have an electrical fault in the bathroom.
Service at breakfast was ok. I ordered just scrambled egg on toast and was given scrambled egg and salmon on burnt toast. When plates were cleared and the salmon was left I was quizzed and had to reiterate my original request. He did apologise.
Check out straight forward but staff never asked if our stay had been ok. Mmmmm

It only takes a few minutes to walk to the hotel from the train station. Check in was quick and we were able to leave our luggage as we were too early for check in. We managed to upgrade to a balcony room for our 2 night stay. The room was a decent size although some of the furniture was too big for it and it was sometimes awkward to move around. The room was tired in parts – paint flaking off the bathroom door and just looked in need of a refresh. Towels were grey looking and the bed very hard.
We found the location ideal for our needs and it wasn’t as noisy at night as we expected.
The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was poor. The continental selection was OK with all items individually packaged but the cooked items (cooked to order) on both mornings were terrible. On the first morning I had eggs Benedict. The egg was perfectly cooked but only just warm and the ham was cheap and nasty – I’ve had far superior eggs Benedict in Wetherspoons. On the 2nd morning I had the full breakfast. Again it was just warm – the only piping hot item was the beans. We had eaten in the restaurant on 1 night of our stay (part of the deal) and this wasn’t a good experience either (separate review)
We settled our bill the night before leaving but on departure found that a mistake had been made and we had to go through the whole process again.
This was a Travel zoo deal so I feel we paid a fair price for what we received. We would probably only stay here again on a room only basis.

First time staying anywhere after lockdown, and the setup here is spot on. Front desk has fresh sanitised pens, screens for protection and plenty of signs to remind you to wear a mask. (Only while you are walking about by the way). Quick efficient check in and up to our room.
We had booked the in room drinks and snacks package and sadly that wasn’t there. Quick trip back to reception and they apologised and promised it would be sorted soon.
Sure enough it was, along with a little something extra for the inconvenience - nice bottle of Prosecco. They even offered for us to have chips and dips sent up to the room. We didn’t take up this offer as we didn’t want to spoil our reason for staying - meal in the restaurant MPW Steakhouse. (Reviewed separately!)
The bed was super comfy, quilt was too thick for my liking (I would use summer 4.5 tog all year if my wife would let me!) but perfect for my wife. The air con was not loud but kept the room perfect to balance that quilt.
Super nights sleep and then down to breakfast.
Again all the socially distant rules, masks on walking about. Individual pots for the continental breakfast area meant that most things could be offered here. The grainger traditional breakfast with poached eggs was a delight, while the pancakes were a little dry (maybe needed more syrup) but still tasty.
Overall an epic stay for our first trip out post lockdown. Thank you for an amazing experience! #MPWcelebration

This hotel is centrally located and very convenient for the city centre and central train station. There are lots of nearby restaurants and bars which again makes this prime location.

Check in was simple and efficient and the desk staff were upbeat and friendly.

On initial glance the room looked OK, if not a bit dated and in need of a freshen up.

There were a few niggles with the room however. First was the air con unit not working. We were having unseasonably warm weather so it was always going to be warm but the temperature in the room was intense. We open end the window but the room is located above the loading bay so we were woken at 6am by deliveries. When this was reported we were told a maintenance man had attended and resolved this, however the heat was no less oppressive. Rather than being moved room we were given a fan, which did partially help.

The other issue was the bed. This was a king room but appeared to be 2 divan beds pushed together. As they were on casters the beds moved about and squeezed. There was also a dip in the middle of the bed which meant that we rolled into the middle.

Overall with the heat and the condition of the bed it was the best of sleep both nights.

Cleanliness in the rooms was spectacular, with hairs all over the consol table in the room

Breakfast is served in the Marco Pierre white restaurant, with Covid there was a limited range but it tasted nice and the service was food

I’m posting this review on here as I’ve complained to the hotel twice via email to both Newcastle and the head office and I’ve been ignored.

My partner and I stayed at the hotel in December for his birthday. As part of the deal we had an evening meal and breakfast included. We checked in and confirmed that we already requested an early dinner at 6pm as we had tickets for a concert so needed to be there for 7.30. They said they had us booked for that time so it would be fine. We arrived for our dinner at 5.50 and we’re taken to our table, we ordered our meal and our starter was served quickly unfortunately my partners soup bowl had old food all round the top which hadn’t been cleaned. The waitress didn’t bring a spoon and promptly disappeared behind the screen to joke on with her friend. Once we got her attention and asked for a spoon and mentioned the dirty bowl she responded saying ‘I thought I’d wait to see how long it would take you to ask’. We then waited over 40mins for our main course I called her over again and explained we had booked early as we needed to leave by 7.30, she went to check to see if our food was ready. My partners meal was fine however I ordered gnocchi and it was either microwaved or had been left to stand under the heat lamps as the top was dried out completely. We didn’t have time to have our dessert but it wasn’t a great miss as it was served and the base of the trifle was completely mushy. That night we had disturbed sleep as there was a loud noise which sounded like an electrical buzzing noise. The following morning we went for breakfast, the cereals, toast etc wasn’t a great selection. We ordered a full English and when my partners breakfast was served the bacon had a piece of paper with the best before date stuck to it. Not ver appetising. We mentioned this to the waiter he did apologise and brought out extra bacon.
None of this would have been as annoying if we had received a response to our emails we sent but we’ve been completely ignored which is very disappointing.

Having stayed here at Hotel Indigo several times before (pre-Covid) we were looking forward to another weekend break here. Unfortunately we were left disappointed by the level of service from the Hotel which we felt was way below what we have had experienced previously. Check in was fine but after we had been in the room for 10 mins a random workman decides to try and open the door to our room only being prevented because we had the security bolt on. On letting him in he explained our door hinge needed adjustment and after 5 mins fiddling with it he left it exactly the same as it was. Bizarre. On arrival, there was no room service menu in the room and although after a quick call to reception they brought one up to the room the choice on the menu was limited. We ended up going out for a takeaway.
Perhaps the worst experience was the breakfast buffet next morning which can only be described as shambolic. Most of the breakfast items needed topping up and this caused a queue of guests waiting with one or two items on their plates going cold. Fried egg anyone? You’ll have to order that separately. More coffee or tea? Good luck trying to catch someone from the staff as they sprint past. It’s understandable if they are struggling because they are understaffed because of the current situation, but it seemed like they needed to go back to basics and offer a set menu table service for breakfast. We weren’t offered any alternative to a self service breakfast buffet. After complaining during check out we had the breakfast cost refunded but after this bad experience we will be trying a different hotel for our next stopover in Newcastle.

Dear Tonycts25 Dear Mr Longrigg I would like to thank you for bringing to our attention the issues encountered during your stay, as this is the best way to improve our service delivery to all our guests. My sincere apologies for the disappointing experience at breakfast, I can assure you we are working really hard to resume our best service delivery and standards. Also, I had words with our maintenance Manager reiterating the importance of instructing contractors on a proper manner so that such situations are avoided, no one should walk into a room that is occupied by a guest.
