You can't beat this place's convenience to the train station. I actually stayed at the hotel twice during my trip. The rooms were fine (although the bigger one was definitely nicer) and the breakfast at the hotel was very good. They helped us out the first night as there was a group having some sort of a party. They set us up with a room away from where the party was happening. I would stay again if I were coming back!

Very impressed with room - large wetroom (adapted) and contemporary style in large bedroom. Public areas also stylish and quality fitted. Breakfast good and hot with plenty of staff on hand. Great value and would certainly return - just a few yards from station.

I visited the county hotel newcastle on saturday 19th august for my 50th birthday with my husband which he booked the penthouse city room. I feel really let down as upon arrival we couldnt get into our room as the cards would not work 20mins later on phone, Maintenance guy had let us in room with master key. This happened on 5 separate occasions trying to get into room. ( as you know this room is quite a way to reception) so each time was taking a ridiculous amount to get in. I've emailed the hotel and get an apology. Saying "These things happen". Absolute disgraceful spoilt our stay. You would think paying that much for a penthouse room you could actually get into it. Spent a fortune on a room and get an apology will never stay again disgraceful.

From the outside and in the reception area, the hotel looks great, that's about as positive as it gets. The room I was allocated was at the very end of the 4th floor, so it was a weird shape and layout, you couldn't move. No air con in this room, and the desk fan provided was broken and as loud as a jet engine so couldn't leave it on during the night. Bathroom was lovely however the shower guard / door only covered half of the bath so water goes everywhere, a small raft or armbands should have been provided for leaving the bathroom safely to be honest. Windows only opened two inches and my room was facing the back of the hotel so a lovely sight and smell of bins, and exterior noise from delivery vehicles and bars. Spoke to reception staff, they were pleasant enough but no help really. Also paid a £25 deposit which hasn't been returned, a deposit or holding amount should be released instantly so not sure why I haven't got mine back, had to raise a dispute with the bank, I would recommend anyone who pays this to ask for the receipt as proof and a copy of the terms relating to the deposit, then forward your bank this so the hotel can't say it was for goods and services provided. Called twice and emailed for assistance regarding this and received a generic reply. Complained to the booking site I use who contacted the hotel directly on my behalf with my concerns but was informed that the hotel disagreed and wouldn't engage in any sort of remediation. Location is perfect, hotel is not. For the price you pay I would genuinely recommend a budget hotel chain. When someone from the hotel reads this review, no need to reply or pretend to act on the feedback provided, we all know its just a tick box exercise :-)

We, as a family, use this hotel countless times and have always been pleased. However, on this occasion I was with my son who was retaking an exam for his university. As I was eating on my own in the evening I wanted a quick meal in the hotel restaurant. I did not want to wander around the city on my own trying to find someone to eat. I was both disappointed and amazed that they could not fit me in as there was only a few eating at the time I arrived at the restaurant. I was told that they'd got a big party shortly and there was nothing they could do for me. Well, maybe they could have told me this when I checked in at 2.45pm? It appeared they had a coach load staying with them and if I'd known this I could have eaten earlier elsewhere. This isn't a good enough service and I felt let down

Thank you for your review and comments and we sincerely apologise if we have let you down on this occasion. Your comments will be passed to the Hudson Management team to look into as this is operated separately from the hotel. Its always advisable to book a table upon check-in at the Hudson for dinner to avoid this situation, all I can assure you is that if they could have accommodated you at the time, they sincerely would have. We do hope that you will return please contact the hotel directly so we can ensure you are looked after.

Staff fantastic great location food good but::: hotel needs an update especially sound proof windows, kept awake all night due to the very noisy air conditioning units below me. Even with the window closed and the secondary glazing shut the constant noise from it made it impossible to sleep in a very comfortable bed. It’s such a shame that the bedroom has no air conditioning and I felt locked in the cupboard very small room and for a double room only one way to get out of bed, not good for 2 sharing as the person near the wall would have to climb over you to get out. Thankfully it was only me. Lovely bathroom and a great shower.

One of the best hotels I’ve have the pleasure to stay in. Paul, Nikita and Gino at the front desk were extremely helpful and welcoming. And as for location I don’t think you could wish for anything better. Will be recommending to anyone who is in Newcastle for a stop over.

Me and my wife had booked 2 nights at your County Hotel in Newcastle on Friday 25th & Saturday 26th august, celebrating our marriage just 4 days before our stay with you. We had both seen and heard many great things about your hotel and were really looking forward to our stay, hoping to enjoy a peaceful, relaxing few nights away in Newcastle, with us travelling all the way up from the East Midlands for our stay. We arrived and were greeted by a very pleasant member of your team who was extremely helpful upon our arrival. We went to our room which we were very happy with, however sadly on our first night we were woken up at 1am by a man screaming and shouting in our corridor, banging on doors and the walls which frightened both me and my wife. This man kept us awake until roughly 3am on our first night away with you. We went to reception in the morning and mentioned this to one of your colleagues at front of desk who deeply apologised and said they were would upgrade us and move us rooms which we couldn’t have been happier about. This was a huge relief for me and my wife and meant we could hopefully enjoy our final night with you without being afraid of where we were staying, which we both genuinely both were. Your member of staff showed us to our new room and we were thrilled. We dropped our bags off and had to shoot straight out due to a booking we had. We then came back about mid afternoon to our room and recognised that the windows couldn’t open, however we did have air conditioning. Sadly, the air conditioning didn’t work and this meant that there was no flow of air in the room what so ever and the heat in the room was unbearable! We rang reception and asked whether this could be sorted which they rang us back and said sadly there wasn’t anyone from maintenance available therefore we could either stay in the room which was just not an option for us, or we would have to re pack our bags and come back down to reception for them to change our room again. We proceeded to re pack our bags and come down to reception again for them to change our rooms, for us to then have to wait in the queue for 30 minutes whilst others were being checked in. Me and my wife were getting extremely fed up with us being back and fourth, unpacking and re packing our suitcases, then dragging them back down to reception to change rooms again, for us then to have to wait in the queue to get sorted. We then were put back into the same quality room as what we originally had booked, no upgrade for the inconvenience and were actually put on the same corridor as our original room in the first instance, so the move actually wasn’t really much point! The room we had been put in for the 3rd time backed onto the front of weatherspoons, so from our room all you could hear was shouting and screaming from across the road until late at night. This time, me and my wife both had had enough and were not re packing our bags for the 3rd time and had to put up with the noise, got through the night with some disturbances, got up had breakfast, paid up and left. This was meant to be a lovely relaxing few nights away for me and my new wife a few days after we had got married, but sadly this turned into a few nights we wish we hadn’t done due to the inconvenience and stress that was caused staying at your hotel. This has been emailed over to your team and hopefully will be dealt with accordingly as originally we were very happy with the standard of the hotel.

At first the hotel looked OK reception staff friendly. Poor choice of draught beers and bottles. Then came the room I asked for a sea view when we booked tree months ago and was told the hotel would sort it. We ended up in a basement painted like the inside of a prison cell no blinds looking out on to the beer garden people walking past looking straight in. The room hadn't even been finished painting. Only one widow would open it was boiling hot a small fan didn't cool it down couldn't watch TV reception was terrible on all channels. Food was good small portions we were allocated a table and on the third day we went for breakfast got our breakfast buffet style and then realised someone was sitting at our table so we told the waitress who told the supervisor who said I'm too busy so fair play she sat us at a bare table and then got our cutlery and so on by this time our breakfast was cold. We complained to the supervisor who said your table is not guaranteed at breakfast only dinner which I have never heard of before.

Thank you for your review however you clearly have picked the wrong hotel. We are not next to the sea, we do not have a basement and the restaurant does not operate with allocated tables etc.
