Definitely a 2-3 star hotel. Room was clean but sorely in need of repair. The hotel is a maze to get around because it is made up of more than one building. Cost is cheap but relative to amenities. Have a very good breakfast. There is a restaurant/bar attached that is ok. This was the best choice in the Jesmond area that suited us. Only a 5-10 min walk from the Jesmond train station.
Stayed here for the one night prior to an appointment at the nearby hospital. Ideal for us in many ways not just the location. Free parking for hotel guests, but remember to put your reg number into the I pad on the reception desk or you will end up with a charge. Quick easy and pleasant check in and then up to our room which was lovely, absolutely massive bed and very comfy , the TV had a bit of a connection issue with the picture freezing up and stuttering at times but bearable for a couple of hours, bathroom small but fine with plenty of hot water. Never tried the evening meal option in the restaurant but did book the breakfast and again it was lovely and worth the money. Metro station is a five minute walk away if you fancy a trip into the city. Will stay here again in the future without a doubt.…
Stayed for 1 night as we were going to see Rod Stewart in the city centre. The hotel is in a great location with the Metro station a few minutes walk away. The public areas of the hotel are modern and well presented but the rest of the building is badly in need of a refurb. The stairs are shabby with dirty carpets and a revolting drain smell is evident, especially in lift 3 and surrounding areas. Our 'Executive' room was OK but at £185 for B&B, it was very over priced. Sleep quality wasn't great as we heard doors banging all night and a very argumentative couple in the next room. We chose Holiday Inn as it was a brand we recognised and felt would be a reasonable standard but we were a bit disappointed. The free car parking was a bonus but spaces are quite tight and height is restricted to 6ft. Breakfast was a buffet with a good selection of continental and cooked options and a very pleasant, efficient young lady in charge. On balance, probably won't return.…
Spent a week at this hotel which is located in Jesmond, just outside the City Centre. What I would like to stress is that although the hotel is just outside the city, I was able to walk direct to the city in approx 30 minutes at normal pace, its actually a pleasant walk passing the university complex's along the route. If on the other hand you don't fancy the walk then the Metro is perfect and cheap. Upon arriving in Central Station, walk along the complex and down a flight of steps, board any metro train as they all pass Jesmond. The duration is under 7 minutes and passes 2-3 stations along the route. When you get off the metro the hotel is literally around the corner, approx 2 minutes walk. The hotel's reception staff are really professional and friendly, the room allocated was spacious and airy. One of the little features I particularly liked was the Do Not Disturb neon light switch, just activate and nobody will bother you. This is the first time I have ever seen this in hotels so was really impressed with the electronics over the do not disturb card you normally place outside your door. The bed was really comfortable, the room was scrupulously clean and came with a mini-fridge, mini-safe, ironing board, iron, kettle and complimentary drinks and snacks. The food served for breakfast was absolutely delicious, replenished regularly, always hot, a vast selection of hot and cold items including pancakes and fresh fruit. The staff working within the restaurant are fantastic, delightful and friendly. The management must be so proud of the team in the mornings, highly commended. The only critiques I found was the heating system in the room was faulty upon check-in so we succumbed to a cold night. However, that said once it was noted it was swiftly fixed and all was well. If I am picky, the croissants were not freshly cooked croissants, they were actually frozen and defrosted and warmed that morning. I just like a freshly baked croissant. I would highly recommend this hotel and I will be coming back soon. Well Done…
Definitely not a 4 star experience. Check in was ok and we dropped bags before heading out to meet family. Returned to room later on for a quick shower and change and found the room to be very tired and in need of refresh. Bathroom smelled badly of damp. The cause of this was a broken shower curtain rail which meant the curtain wouldn’t stay closed leading to water going all over the floor. The tiles on the bath panel had fallen off and the dresser unit was rotten. Additionally the toilet seat didnt fit the toilet properly so was uncomfortable. The bedroom was also in need of repair or refurb. Wall paper peeling off the wall, curtains ripped and carpet badly stained in places. Finally the aircon/heating was very loud leading to a broken nights sleep. Overall a very disappointing stay in a room that was 2 star at best not the claimed 4 star standard the hotel claim.…
Absolutely brilliant hotel. Loving the quiet part of the hotel, slept amazing and the new refurbished bar and lounge is great. Starbucks on site too. Breakfast is amazing, full breakfast and the chefs can make you anything you want that's not on the buffet
Another excellent visit this year .This hotel is a great base to explore Newcastle and Northumberland .There is a free carpark for hotel guests which is a great bonus in a city. All the staff here are friendly and helpful .Our room was lovely and spacious with all you need ,a comfy bed , T.V , tea and coffee facilities. Breakfast is very nice lots of choice and the cooked breakfast is well cooked but plenty of other choices. We also ate in the hotel 2 nights and there is plenty of choice and it was really lovely . Thank you everyone for a great stay
I was too tired to seek out another place to eat, so took the easy option to eat at the hotel. I expected a mediocre meal - and how wrong was I? Fabulous food and service! The buffalo chicken wings were among the best I've 3aten outside the US! Thank you. 👍👍
Stayed here for the Great North Run weekend. For some reason our room was a disabled access room, which meant the sink in bathroom and mirror were incredibly low which was annoying. There was also no power sockets near the bed on either side which is a frustrating feature. Breakfast offered a fair choice -cereals, fruit, pastries and cooked items -it was a busy weekend so often items ran out but were quickly replaced. The Italian restaurant was very nice for dinner with a good selection, the bar and coffee stop in the reception was average. Coffee was from a machine and there wasn’t skimmed milk as an option. The location of the hotel is on a busy main road and can be noisy at times. It is very handy for Jesmond metro and is also only a 15 min walk into the centre of town. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The post race goodie bags were a nice jesture.…
Visited recently to see family in the area. Car parking available, guests get complimentary parking but you need to put your car details into a tablet on the reception desk. Staff at reception were friendly, courteous and helpful. We ate in Fratellos in the evening, it was busy with lots of tables occupied but our party were accommodated even though we hadn’t made a reservation. Plenty of choice and everyone was catered for. Staff were friendly and the food was very good, what more can you ask for?
