stayed for just 1 night , the staff were very friendly, couldnt fault the room we had think it had been refurbished, new bath and new tiles in bathroom hairdryer, room itself had a double bed and a single, tea and coffee making facilities , and hairdryer, but i think they need to update the rest of the hotel, all in all a good stay
I mixed up the booking dates but hotel sorted it out no problem. The rooms were great with lots of nice touches. The staff could not have been nicer. All in all a great hotel. Yarm has plenty of bars and restaurants too.
The Claireville is an old hotel that is in need of some refurbishment. Having said that the staff are friendly, the rooms are comfortable, the breakfast is good and the value for money is outstanding. The communal areas could do with some "deep cleaning" of the carpets. There was an vaguely unpleasant smell on the first floor passageway. The room, however, was clean, the bed comfortable and the bathroom very acceptable. Slight problem as the shower was always cold despite letting it run for some time. (Hot water was available in bath and sink). Breakfast provided a selection of cereals, a good cooked breakfast and tea or coffee. Choice for a "Continental" breakfast would be limited. Great value. Certainly a better choice than a similar priced B&B elsewhere in the Yarm area. Would definitely use again.…
We were warmly welcomed by the owner and given the key to our room. Ir was rather dark, with most furniture and fittings in dark brown, with only a small window to let in light. First time we have had flanalette sheets!. The bathroom could have out of the 50s, and could have been cleaner. Breakfast was fine.
I stayed here for two nights recently. Prompt service at check in, welcoming staff. The room was excellent, very well appointed, spotlessly clean. Lovely touches such as a movement sensor activated night light at skirt level near the bathroom. The bathroom itself was immaculate, and well equipped. Good wifi, plenty of charging points. Breakfast was also of high quality. The rooms seem to be laid out in such a way that none are adjacent to each other, so no noisy neighbours. Infact, had it not been for the cars in the carpark, I would have though I was alone in the hotel it was so peaceful! The hotel is way better that other much more expensive ones I have stayed at.
This is a great place to stay. An excellent welcome in what looks like an unremarkable hotel. My room was perfect. Full of character, extremely clean and comfortable. Probably the best TV in a hotel room I have had the pleasure of watching. All power sockets have USB outlets which is most convenient. WiFi no problem either. Then there is the TV in the bathroom! Add to this a very nice breakfast and I have no hesitation in given this 5 starts. It also represents extremely good value as well.
Stayed one night here with my wife as it was a short walk away to a 40th birthday function. The exterior and reception area was unremarkable and reflected the grading of the hotel. However, upon entering our room it was more like 5 star luxury. Large comfortable room expensively furnished with added benefits of free powerful wifi, ports for laptop connection and iPhone chargers, huge TV in bedroom and further TV fitted into the tiles to view in the bath. The bathroom has clearly recently been refitted to a very high standard & is as good as any I've used in a hotel with ample hot water and powerful shower. Breakfast was lovely and the full English served within 5 minutes. If this hotel was situated in a 'resort' it would be block booked all year round I imagine. Definitely one to consider though for any occasion, be it an overnight flying visit, or a base for a few days. …
I stayed here whilst in the area with work, and while it is dated from the outside and in the hallways, my initial reservations vanished once inside my room. It was absolutely spotless, I couldn't fault it. Comfortable bed, modern and homely decor and the bathroom was actually sparkling it was so clean. I've stayed in much worse 4* big name hotels and paid three times the price. I didn't stay for breakfast so I can't comment on that (however it was included in the price) but I'm giving 5* because for the little amount I paid I couldn't of asked for more. Excellent value for money and very friendly staff.
I stayed here because of its proximity to work, the staff are great and welcoming. The reception area could do with an update as it looks tired or the alternative is to for the full Fawlty Towers look which may appeal. The bedroom was a good size and had great little features such as being able to connect my iPad to the TV via the hdmi ports around the room. What did let the room down was the bathroom, on first impressions it's nicely decorated and clean but it feels to be only 85% finished. The tiling is nice but there's an old shower curtain that looks out of place whereas a glass screen would be better looking and the door needs a bit of tlc. There was a good selection available for breakfast.
Stayed here briefly whilst visits the area. The owner initially had no record of our booking but was able to accommodate us. The reception area was dated and first impressions were not that good however the room was clean and of a good standard. Breakfast and breakfast service was also good. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall reception and hallways need decoration but it was a pleasant hotel.
