Cold don't do food and it was empty not a good sign for a pub.owner very unfriendly wouldn't go back no wonder they don't open through the day it needs a good clean as there is a funny smell. I Wouldn't bother booking or wouldn't go it's a pub that needs new owners.

Been here once or twice when visiting family and it’s your typical mediocre run of the Mill pub, nothing special at all. However upon hearing how the female owner treated a mere 18 year old girl at an interview and upon seeing other reviews written about her, I must advise everyone to steer clear. I’m sure they’ll stay afloat due to having an ignorant local contingent, however this woman’s clear personality disorder doesn’t warrant this business receiving any money from new customers.

In the area for business and stayed at the Stockton arms for just one night. Room was very well presented and in great location for the local area. Great local park to walk after a days work in a nice area outside of the main town. The Stockton arms itself has a large bar with all sports channels available but is far from a sports pub with a smart/casual dress code making it a good spot to relax and enjoy a night. For food go around the corner to the Masham the sister pub, the food and service is excellent

landlady very rude and abrupt not made to feel welcome at all even the customers all look at you very clicky place has been for a few years thought it may of changed and they would be welcoming any customers but clearly not won't be returning and wouldn't recomend going either unless you want to be looked at like a piece or poo and be spoken too abruptly off the management.

Response from Andy Darby, Owner at The Stockton Arms Hotel

Sorry if your experience was as stated but due to the strict Covid Rules having to be enforced in all premises our management and staff have a responsibility to all customers to ensure these are adhered to. Sometimes this may come across as abrubt but customers must be reminded of these rules if necessary.

Me and my friends waited outside the pub for it to open on Saturday 17th at 3pm, there was two groups of 4 in front of us. The owners turned up in their car and straight away the woman snarled at us and said “regulars only”. Even though I had been in the pub on Wednesday and Thursday this week and there had only been 5 tables in on them nights, you would think they’d be happy to have our business. Me and my friends felt very taken back the utter rudeness of the woman. When we politely questioned the woman about why we weren’t allowed in, she began to abuse and swear at us which is totally unacceptable when we just wanted to spend money in their pub and enjoy our Saturday afternoon. She let a total of 8 “regulars” in and completely excluded me and my friends by pointing her finger and looking down on us. Me and my friends will never be returning to the Stockton Arms as we are clearly not wanted there for some unknown reason. We proceeded to go to the Masham in Hartburn village where the service was excellent and their beer garden has been done out very nicely.

A rather onesided and exagerrated account of your experience but never the less - due to the Covid restrictions we have had to implement certain rules that are not to everyones satisfaction. Yes that has involved a tighter control over those that enter and regulars that we know have obviously had priority. Groups of 8+ young lads (as you were) would not be permitted to sit together and would have breached Covid Rules. As per other pubs in the local area we also have a dress code which unfortunately half of your crowd did not meet. This was explained to you at the time but was met with an argument and a level of verbal abuse.

Selecting your favourites to enter the pub really bad form. Also swearing at people who are asking you to clarify your position. We all struggled during the pandemic but the way you have behaved is not at all professional I hope you survive.

This is a great pub to enjoy a drink with friends. They have done lots to make the area covid safe including a service hatch within the beer garden. Be aware this is an adults only pub so don't try and visit with the kids.

I stayed here for 1 night in March 2019 on business. On booking I wasn’t sure what to expect but it was a great choice of booking! Lots of car parking space, and I was warmly welcomed and shown my room which was perfect! Nice comfortable bed with an en suite shower and loo. The breakfast room was lovely and lots of choice. Really liked the set up of the whole place. Was not disturbed at all by anyone or any noise. Great WiFi. Will most definitely stay again when I’m in the area for work. 10/10, Thank you!
