Gem of a hotel in a perfect location on the High Street. The rooms are not huge but are very well appointed with decent sized bathrooms, excellent amenities including decent coffee and cafetière and everything you would expect of a five star bijou hotel. The bed and bedding was very comfortable and cleaning immaculate. The air con was effective and much needed in the current heatwave (and easily turned off or down if that’s what you want to do). Staff are friendly and courteous both in the hotel and its restaurant Quod which is popular in its own right. Breakfast was delicious and there were lots of delicious sounding options available. I thought it was worth the money and as someone who visits Oxford from time to time I would be very happy to return.

A very nice one-night stay at the Old Bank Hotel. I was unwell and the hotel provided early check in which was much appreciated. The room was spotless and the bed was extremely comfortable with lovely bed linen. A modern and extremely clean bathroom with bespoke shampoo, body lotion etc. The hotel's Quod restaurant provides a very nice menu with friendly service. Unique art adorns the walls throughout the hotel. We will be back!

We have stayed at The Old Bank many times in pre Covid days and recently we returned for a one night (room 11) stay and the only negative was the large painting in the room which was really ugly. Service is impeccible with all staff being friendly, helpful and efficient. Our room was beautifully designed to include everything we needed with a very comfortable bed and the ensuite shower was just brilliant. Tea, coffe and water were provided together with a small fridge and safe, the bathroom had the usual toiletries in large eco friendly containers and as well as soft fluffy towels there were bath robes. The hotel has parking at the rear and is perfectly located for touring Oxford. Basically its a bit expensive but really worrh the money. We look fotward to returning.

This hotel is a gem. Steps away from the historic College and University buildings, it is an oasis of calm and comfort. There is a car park at the rear. The staff are not only courteous and competent, but kind and thoughtful -- and genuine. The restauarnt on site, Quod, serves really delicious food and attentive service. We'd return to this hotel without hesitation.

It was my first time at the Old Bank hotel and I can honestly say I’ve never received a nicer welcome. I sat in the restaurant as my room wasn’t ready yet the staff were lovely and understood my complete mess of a day, I can’t remember her name but our blonde waitress was lovely and super keen to give drink recommendations. We were then checked in by Ellie who showed us the room and told us all about oxford she was so helpful and kind. They have the nicest staff, I will be coming back. Would recommend!!!

I stayed at the Old Bank in October 2020, and then subsequently at the Old Parsonage in 2021. I was excited to return for another short stay to see some friends have some downtime. I'm delighted to say that the Old Bank was just as wonderful second time around. To say first up, it's not a cheap hotel - particularly given there's no pool, spa, gym. It puts the price-value ratio right on the borderline for me personally. Though across the hotel industry rates are particularly high right now given inflation and staff pressures. Irrespective of the rate, the quality is up there and it's definitely a 5* property. What I love most is the exceptional interior design, comfort and quality of the fabrics, finishes, furniture. The art collection is wonderful and really adds to the stay. Amenities are thoughtful and of good quality - fresh coffee and milk, biscotti, lovely toiletries. It all adds up to a lot across the board - the hotel is hugely comfortable, stylish and just interesting. Service is very good too. It's professional and warm though perhaps not quite as slick as my last visit - not in a way that undermined my stay. Staff are keen to serve and are engaged. Breakfast was great quality and it was delightful to sit out in the courtyard. I also love the guest only library - it's such a great bonus and makes the high room rate feel worthwhile. The book collection is fascinating and the space is calm. Staff are more than willing to serve tea, coffee, food there. I had dinner at Gee's with friends. Gee's is owned by the hotel and is a 15-20 minute walk away. Everything about it was of the same quality as the Old Bank. I do think the Old Bank has the slight edge over for the Old Parsonage in that the location is better and I slightly prefer the interior design. Both are excellent. I definitely look forward to another visit!

I had a distressing experience at this otherwise quite nice, if pricey, hotel. After staying three nights I sought a delayed check-out the last day. I would have understood if they were too busy. Instead I was told that I could overstay by a half hour, and that after that I could stay on for a further 50 pounds per half hour. I felt disrespected - as though they were so eager to make a pound that they could not extend a courtesy - or that they did not care about my patronage - and let's see if we can make a little more from him on his way out.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. We are currently experiencing high occupancy level, and although we are happy to be flexible on occasion in regards to complimentary late check-out, we do have to limit the amount of late departures on busier days in order to honour our 3pm check in time. We are sorry if this spoilt your stay in anyway. We hope to have to opportunity to welcome you back on another occasion, and we will ensure you have the most wonderful stay. My husband booked a surprise stay in Oxford for my birthday including an overnight at the Old Bank Hotel. The hotel is located very centrally - we walked everywhere to the main tourist locations. I would describe the hotel as luxury boutique on the lines oh Soho House. The interiors are well thought through from the beautiful art collection to the high quality of the fittings and furniture. We loved our stay. Our room overlooked the street on the 1st floor but it wasn’t particularly noisy. There were nice touches including afternoon tea and welcome note in our room. Air con was efficient and WiFi super fast. We used the restaurant for breakfast only and the service was prompt and the food standard and presentation high. Thank you for a lovely stay.

***Update and photos at end of review*** Whilst booking a room for 3 nights for a 90th-birthday present for my Mum, a member of hotel staff flung open a glass door and crashed it into me hard enough to knock me sideways and cause painful bruising to my hip. He told me he didn’t see me (through a glass door?!). Fortunately this was picked up on a security camera. When I asked to speak to someone more senior than the Head Receptionist about what had happened, she told me “I think you’re taking it a little bit too seriously”. When I said I found that rather rude, the Head Receptionist said “You can make a complaint about me as well if you like” and “I think you are escalating a bit too much”. I asked if the hotel had a complaints policy or procedure, and was told no. Eventually I was given the email address of the Director of Operations, Rebecca Mofford. I emailed her about what had happened, and explained that I wanted to complain not only about the accident but also about the way I was treated afterwards by the smirking (a sign of nerves?) and unhelpful Head of Reception. The Director of Operations responded by first emailing me to apologise for my “ordeal” (her word), and then she phoned me. To be fair, she started the phone call by offered me a formal-sounding apology though stressing that it wasn’t deliberate – why would I imagine that having a door flung open into me was deliberate? I began to explain that I had hip pain from being bashed by the heavy door and that my neck also hurt from being jarred – and she interrupted me, clearly not wanting to hear what I had to say. I asked her if she had watched the accident on the video of the security camera, and she said yes, that the same thing had happened to her several times*. Having watched it, she said: “I don’t feel it’s a significant bump”. I told her I was jotting that down as I found it surprising – and she then lost her temper and said she no longer wanted to engage with me, I had mentioned the accident was negligent (I had, because it wasn’t deliberate), I should contact a lawyer if I wished to pursue the matter....and then she hung up! (*Er, maybe that should tell the Management something...? Just a thought...) I THEN RECEIVED AN EMAIL CANCELLING MY MUM’S BOOKING FOR HER 90th. THIS WAS MY MUM’S BOOKING, NOT MINE. I got the email because I made the booking with my email address just because my Mum has very poor vision. How vindictive and nasty. Avoid avoid avoid this hotel. But thank God we found out what the hotel is like before my Mum went and stayed there!!! I have emailed the owner, Jeremy Mogford, whom I only know of because I taught his son at St Catz many years ago – just proving what a goldfish bowl Oxford is. I have given him full details of what has happened and, in the interest of fairness, will gladly update here if I receive a reply. ***UPDATE*** In response to my original posting of this review, the Head of Reception posted here that I am being unreasonable by complaining!!! Customer service? Anyone? Oh dear. I would be really happy to briefly discuss what happened with the owner, and to send him a photo* of the bad bruising so that he can decide for himself if I am being unreasonable. Don't just take your staff's word for it, Mr Mogford - see for yourself, and maybe just take 2 minutes to ask me if I am okay? (I am, by the way). *I would slightly prefer not to post pictures of my leg on Trip Advisor for obvious reasons!!! :| I am not going to book a room here ever again, and I don't want money, or compensation, or anything else - but I would like the owner to see for himself what was so rudely dismissed by his staff as trivial, and not "significant". If he doesn't want to see the result of what happened, then so be it. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. Readers of this review will make up their own minds. And, most importantly, my Mum is having her 90th birthday at a lovely luxury Oxford hotel, where nothing was too much trouble when I booked. And no one whacked me with a door. And no one insulted me :-) I will post another update if there is one...
