The accommodation was comfortable, relaxing and even the request for extra pillows. The bed was so comfortable I must say.. We couldnt wish for more. Meals were tasty Staff very friendly. For me My partner reminded me this was a place i booked for my dad and partner some 15 years sadly dad has passed so brought back some memories for me One comment to make was that one member of my party has trouble with the stairs Perhaps something could be put on the site to help those less abled people

First off , no complaints against the staff . You can't make a silk purse out of a pigs ear. We were given room 9 at the front of the building on our 5 night stay , a small room painted a drab ,scruffy gray. The positive were a good size TV , clean bathroom ( cleaning ladies excellent ) , but no draws to put clothes away , so lived out of a suitcase . The whole of the hotels is drab and scruffy . It could and should be a great hotel ,with the river to the rear , bus stop is 200 yards away with regular buses into town . My wife is gluten free so the cooked breakfast was no problem , eggs , beans , bacon , mushrooms , but thats about it . One of the managers got my wife a chicken salad on our first night as a sorry because of the lack of options for her ( thanks to him for that ). We had paid for 5 , but only stayed for 4 nights , foregoing our final night due to rock hard bed . The local staff in this hotel no problem , senior management asleep at the wheel .

There is lots of potential for this to be a lovely hotel because of the riverside location. After reading the reviews I’m glad I’m not alone in how I felt about my stay but I’m so surprised change hasn’t been made for the better. It smelt so strongly of stale grilled food on the hotel corridor. My room smelt even stronger and it was really difficult to ignore. It did not feel clean; the walls and edges of the carpets were grubby and with the added smell it was very uncomfortable feeling. My room was very hot, despite it not being hot outside. The window barely opened for safety reasons and opened onto a main road so it didn’t feel safe leaving it open to add some fresh air. The window being open barely made a difference. The bed was really uncomfortable, lumpy and stiff. I slept very badly during my stay here and tried to make the most of the room but really disliked being in there - it felt very claustrophobic and stifling after days spent in the fresh air on the broads. I really wouldn’t recommend. Change needs to be made.

Stayed Mon- Thurs, just before school holidays. Very relaxing and peaceful. All staff excellent, friendly and helpful, felt really homely .Quad room huge, spotlessly clean, and a much needed fan ! View from the room/ garden is beautiful, could have just stayed there all day. Food deals good, carvery, all you can eat breakfast, garlic bread starter is huge,as are pizzas, juicy burgers .bus stop is 2 mins up road,to station or town, train to Cromer is 45 mins,or bus from town one and a half hours .Only downside is that there is about 15 steps to the rooms,no lift,so people with mobility problems may struggle, and steps down into the garden, although if you enter through the car park, you can walk on the grass to the garden, just a slight slope .Bring your binoculars,17 types of birds spotted,2 squirrels, and river full of fish .Will definitely be back, thank you once again to all you hard working, friendly staff .

Stayed here for 3 nights for a weekend in Norwich. Lovely room, super friendly and accommodating staff. Great location right next to the river - lovely view from the room Yes the exterior is a little tired as stated in other reviews but that didn't detract from our stay. Good value cooked breakfast buffet if you're not fussed about a continental - it set us up for the day. Must recommend booking a boat just 5 minutes walk away with Bishy Barney Boats. Would stay here again!

The good points to the hotel was the modern, very clean room with a view of the river and the beautiful beer garden. The staff were all really friendly (when they were about). The cooked breakfast was warm and tasty. The slight downsides were that the service was really slow in the evening. Staff seemed to wander around rather than manning the bar. The breakfast is a small cost but was surprised that it didn't offer cereals, pastries or fruit juice. The hotel needs some TLC, the outside was messy and the bar and tables look tired and could do with a spruce up. Overall the hotel is pretty good value for money and would recommend if just stopping for the one evening.

The photos are misleading. Friendly staff. Very tired building in need of investment. Heating on full blast made it uncomfortable. Hot water control was erratic, almost dangerously hot. Breakfast was not worth the price charged

There are some good points - nice room with a view of the river. The staff were great - all of them. Now the not so good points - the breakfast does not offer cereals, fruit juices or fruit, so a very limited menu. The hotel is somewhat scruffy, apart from the actual room itself. The outside needs a repaint and tidy up. The corridor and staircase need total redecoration. The noise from the security door at the top of the stairs is just not acceptable, banging late at night and from 6.30 in the morning. Would I stay again - definitely not.
