Visited the Highfield Hotel, Middlesbrough. Never again. One children's meal was ordered within our party, and forgotten about, we knew this was the case as when brought out (after everyone else's because we had to ask for it) it was fresh and scalding hot. Definitely wasn't sat under the lights. Plates were cleared before everyone in the party was finished, which is extremely rude. Bear in mind that the place wasn't full by any means, so rushing plates through isn't necessary. The worst part of this was when my nephew was asked to transfer part of his meal to another plate so his could be cleared away. We were too gob smacked to say anything. When it was complained about to the manager, he stared blankly at the person complaining, who then wouldn't speak to her as she raised her voice. Admittedly this is not the best tactic, however frustration does remove logic at times. Although perhaps your new policy is to stare blankly so people do this and you can say that you won't deal with someone raising their voice? Not the best way to deal with complaints really. The most minor things were mixing up a swap on the mixed grill and clearing the pot with napkins in before people were finished. Have you tried to wipe your hands on thin air after eating ribs? I have, it's pretty difficult.…
The Highfield has been decorated since our last visit and this really makes a difference, the room was comfortable, clean and well presented. Value for money was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. We travel to Middlesbrough a few times a year and will certainly stay at the Highfield again.
I have stayed here twice and enjoyed it on both occasions. The staff are extremely helpful and polite. Having booked at very short notice, this was the only room available in the area which made me a bit nervous. The rooms are seemingly recently refurbished and extremely comfortable with enough space. The bar is pleasant and what I ate I enjoyed at a fair price. I am naturally critical of hotels and hospitality but would happily stay again.
This hotel is the best I have stayed in, in Middlesbrough. I stayed for 3 nights. Staff are friendly and helpful and have gone out of their way to ensure my stay was memorable. The rooms are lovely and very comfortable.I would highly recommend staying here!!!
On my first visit here back in march I would have said this place was very poor however, on returning to visit family this room we stayed in was fantastic and has really improved from our previous visit for this I will give it 5 stars. The only thing I would mention is that the pull chord for the blind in the bathroom is on the opposite side and had to step into the bath to pull it down secondly I struggled with getting in and out of the bath so a grab really would have helped. Food was excellent and great customer service. Thank you for having us enjoyed our stay and will return shortly.
Came for a quick early evening meal we had steak and a chicken burger , the steak was as good as we have had in alot more expensive places , staff are really friendly Chloe , Alex and Rosie could not do enough for us .We will come again , we'll worth a visit for a meal nice atmosphere too. Visited this hotel for food, the service was brilliant. The waitress Caprice made sure we had everything we needed, as well as the food being piping hot and not having to wait long for it to arrive. We will definitely be back again.
We stayed in the downstairs rooms as the upstairs rooms are near completion. The room was wonderful and the staff just made my experience even better. Food is great and drink prices are really good as well. Especially on a Thursday when a double gin and mixer costs you £3.99…I’ll have another one don’t mind if I do😂
Cheap and cheerful food and drinks. Staff are wonderful and really looking forward to seeing the completion of the hotel renovation. Lovely outside seating for when it is sunny and music is always great especially Saturday nights as they have live bands🤌🏼
Stayed here last week and I must say the work that has been done to the hotel is amazing..the rooms are totally different and nothing like the rooms before hand. Tvs are huge, bed is comfy, plug sockets behind the lamps so you can charge your phone during the night…easy check ins and out the breakfast is what you expect and the staff are so helpful and friendly! THANKYOU
