Nestled in the heart of Shoreditch, The Hoxton hotel boasts a prime location that guests have called out for its convenience to public transport and local attractions. The hotel's atmosphere is a tale of two scenes: a trendy, lively lobby and the less-impressive, dark rooms that some visitors suggest need brighter lighting and an update. While the rooms are considered stylish with comfortable beds, they are often described as small.
Service quality at The Hoxton seems to split opinions; many find the staff friendly and professional, yet others have encountered slow responses. Despite cleanliness being generally well-regarded, issues with minimal amenities and the perceived high cost have left some guests questioning the value.

Detailed Reviews
We stayed on 30/31 December as it was my birthday on 31st. We've stayed before the location is great, it's very comfortable and excellent value for money, but what really makes it a pleasure to stay is the attention to detail. From the moment we checked in Faith made our stay extra special, from ensuring that we had almond milk in our room to leaving a little a birthday gift in our room. She had a smile on her face whenever we saw her, so many guests must pass through the hotel each day and yet she made us feel like we were regulars - thanks Faith you are a star.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Hoxton, the hotel has a real buzz about it. We stayed in a Cozy Double which was small but perfectly formed. The rooms are very cleverly laid out and everything’s done with a sense of cool style.
The bed was a good size and very comfortable. Double electric sockets each side do you can charge your phone or computer without having to unplug anything. The air conditioning was powerful and relatively easy to use. If you prefer you can open the windows instead for fresh air. There is a decent kettle with two proper mugs, and for those of us who must have milk with our tea there is a cooperative supermarket right opposite the hotel. There is also a fridge for you to use to store it (along with two complementary cartons of water).
The bathroom is a good size with plenty of space either side of the sink to store you toiletries. There is a generous sized shower with both a traditional rose and also a hand held shower head for those that prefer. Quality toiletries are provided in pump dispensers rather than the usual little plastic bottles.
We actually got to check in at 12 noon (we expected simply to drop off our bags when we arrived early). Check out is a very civilised 12noon (another great touch).
We had dinner at the restaurant downstairs which was busy and atmospheric, the food was great and very reasonably priced.
The location is around 5 minutes from Old Street tube station and very convenient for Shoreditch, Brick Lane and beyond.
Staff were friendly and helpful so we will definitely be back!!

My partner and I had too nights here after getting a civil partnership. The staff had left a lovely note and balloons in the room to congratulate us. The room was lovely - lots of nice touches like a digital radio that the cleaner left on a chill out station in the morning and nice coffee bags rather than instant. The reception team were great and happy to recommend local places to eat on our first night. Very nice breakfast to be had in the grill too. We will definitely be back in the future

We had a one night stay in the Hoxton in Shoreditch this week and thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s a busy hotel and the lobby is used by lots of non residents for meet ups with friends and to get work done on their laptops. If you prefer a quieter atmosphere, then it’s not for you. There is a lovey coffee shop with delicious cakes and a well stocked bar and restaurant (we didn’t try this). However, the Attendant and the Jones family project are directly opposite and both worth a visit for food and drink too.
The room was described as cozy and despite this I’ve been in much smaller. It was very comfortable and well equipped. The bed was lovely and as someone who hates hard pillows, the pillows were fantastic!
There is free water, tea and coffee in the room and a small fridge with fresh milk, which is a nice touch.
Despite it being a very busy hotel, our room on the sixth floor was exceptionally quiet. If I had to improve something, I would like a more powerful shower- it’s a rainforest head but the water pressure doesn’t really support that (maybe a 6th floor issue though)
Shoreditch is a great area, packed with bars, coffee shops and restaurants. It’s easy to get elsewhere either via Liverpool St or Old St underground stations.
We would certainly stay here again.

When you make a booking at The Hoxton it specifies that "payment will be taken upon check-out". In practical terms this is not true, as payment is retained upon check in and extra £50 per night is also requested. The main problem is that this is not specified in the terms and conditions which shows a clear lack of transparency. It also shows that the hotel doesn't trust us as customers, assuming we will leave without paying our bills.
As well, because of "covid rules" the hotels don't offer cleaning room service anymore. There's no cleaning service during the whole stay, which makes booking a hotel less attractive than booking an apartment.

Hi there Irene, Thank you for taking the time to pay forward your feedback, both the good and the not so good are incredibly valuable to us as this is the only way we know where we need to do better. It does sound like our communication dropped a little here and I am really sorry to read the impact that has had on your stay. With regards to the check in procedure, this is pretty common place in hotels in London, unfortunately a few bad eggs leaving without pay have meant that we need something for guarantee. The amount processed on arrival is only a block on the card with the final payment being taken on check out. Despite covid, we are more than happy to service guests rooms while you are with us but only when you ask us too. This is simply so that you know who has been coming in and out of your room. This should have been better explained when you checked in with us. I really hope these niggles don't put you off a return visit to us and I would love, if when you are next planning a trip to London, you would reach out to me directly, helen.sayer@thehox.com, so I may ensure a far smoother experience and look after your stay personally. Thank you again and see you soon, Helen

Very cool hotel, great staff and my room was so nice I hung around for awhile to enjoy it. Love the later check out time too.
Excellent value for money.
Don’t drive unless you really have to as it’s central, very convenient location, mean parking is tricky/expensive.

I've been here before and I'll defintiely be back again. I love everything about this really fanstastic hotel. The staff are genuninely nice and can't do enough for you. Nikos was so amazing! The rooms are an excellent size and price (for London) and they really have thought of every little detail - from water and fresh milk in the fridge to a pocket sized guide to the area. The trendy bar downstairs is always busy and there's always a great atmosphere around. In a word - excellent.

I was really looking forward to staying at the hotel as had heard great things about it.
In terms of location and decor it was great.
We were on the 3rd floor and could still hear really loud music from the bar downstairs until very late.
I did not feel special as a guest as you walked through the main doors to the lifts and were not greeted or acknowledge by reception. For the price we paid I would expect excellent service.
I feel you could differentiate your hotel guests to your bar guests to make them feel a valued customer.
The breakfast is yogurt granola, a banana and orange juice which is left outside you door.
The restaurant offers breakfast so why not offer your guests some sort of discount to entice them to eat on site.
Once night we did eat at the restaurant and found it average and overpriced for the standard of food and level of service. You had also ran out of chips of all things.
I think there are other hotels better service and price.
We had previously stayed at the Ace in Shoreditch which was a much better experience.

The Hoxton was booked last minute as a replacement for a trip to Ibiza which had to be cancelled due to Covid. As this was a birthday treat we really wanted to make this trip special and the Hoxton came to the rescue.
Vivien on reception pulled out all the stops ensuring we had connecting rooms and also left a few special treats in our rooms. Vivien also assisted us with our dinner reservations and couldn't have been more helpful throughout our stay.
The hotel is perfectly situated in Shoreditch, has a really cool vibe and contains all the amenities that you could hope for at a very reasonable price. I will definitely be staying again.

Hi, Not really! It is about 45 mins in an Uber or similar on public transport.
The nearest tube is Old Street
First up, no parking - options depend on were you are coming from - i can suggest two -
1) park at the barbican - you can usually park there for around £20 for 24+ hours - look on a parking app and pre book -
2) park at Westfield (it's about 45 mins away by tube) but will cost about £9 for 24hours +
Yes there is
Hi Cheri_Lovestotravel, Thanks for your question. We recommend taking a train but if you wish to take a cab, then a black cab would be between 85-125 GBP depending on the traffic. We also recommend using Uber as another low fare option. Thanks and Welcome to the Hox!
