Our stay at Hotel Cafe Royal was incredible and felt like being on holiday despite being within the city centre. Staff were very helpful and attentive and we felt spoilt at all times. I'd highly recommend staying here if you want a touch of luxury, the spa was amazing and the rooms were stunning with a beautiful view and I had the best night's sleep!
So as expected, this hotel is outstanding. The people, the facilities, the location. Its definitely a treat, but a treat worth the effort. I feel i have to give special mention to the staff as they're all committed to going above and beyond (especially those on and behind reception). A huge thank you to everyone for making our stay so special
We visited Hotel Café Royal on a Saturday in November. We were planning to hold our wedding at the hotel and had arranged to view the event spaces with the hotel event manager. After several emails aligning our diaries, we finally settled on a date. We travelled into London specifically and only for the viewing. On arrival we were asked to sit in the lobby and wait for the Event Manager. 20 minutes passed and the receptionist apologized for the wait. After a further 10 minutes the receptionist informed us that the event manager would not be able to see us as they was stuck on a phone call. The receptionist then showed us around the various spaces; however, she was unable to answer any of our questions (and was even unable to turn the lights on in one of the rooms). This was extremely disappointing given we only travelled into London for this meeting. At the end of the quick tour, the receptionist said the event manager would be in touch to address some of the questions we had raised. This did not happen. Three days later I sent an email with all of the questions which they then replied to. I am baffled and astounded that this happened on visiting such a prominent 5* hotel. And not to even receive an email at the time to apologize. When we did here from them, they noted they did not want to keep us waiting despite the fact we did wait 30 minutes. We followed the viewing with a table at Cake and Bubbles (a booking I had made to celebrate viewing our potential wedding venue). I informed the receptionist that we were going to Cake and Bubbles to let her know we would still be onsite following our tour. The email back from the event manager said they wanted to find us after the call they were on – I do not believe this given we were onsite a good 2 hours after the tour. The service in Cake and Bubbles was OK. I booked a table outside, we were shown one inside. I think our waiter went on a break midway through our time there and we were left to flag down staff for attention. We had to flag down the maître d to pay our bill who did not look at us once while we paid or ask us if we enjoyed our time there. The attention to detail seemed lacking and again not what I expected of the hotel. To caveat this review, we did not stay overnight. However, we walked through the doors ready to spend tens of thousands of pounds and left feeling overlooked. I loved the event space, but unfortunately, I don’t see how we could entrust such an important day to the hotel after this disappointing experience.…
