Was very sceptical about this as never stayed in one before but we were met a thecdoor quickly booked in then was shown the dining room and told about breakfast which we didn't use as we are vegan however we could have easily of got our own pb milk. Our room was clean, beds extremely comfortable a wardrobe, big fan, fridge and air purifier. The toilets and showers were on the landing.

Great central location.

I would definitely stay again.

Our private room was so affordable and in a perfect location, I was a bit weary as to how good it was, almost too good to be true! However it was perfectly suited to what we needed. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Spacious room. Very simple and quite old-fashioned, but it was all we needed. Very clean. Will definitely be returning next time we come to London on a weekend city-break!!

Convenient location, very small room but clean and adequate for our needs. Quiet as requested. Close enough to tube station to walk with luggage. No elevator but only one flight of stairs for us. Bit warm in summer.

Although I had booked my single room for 9 days almost one year in advance, I was notified one day before my arrival that the hostel had overbooked itself. I was given alternate accommodation (one night at one hotel and then I had to move to a second hotel for the other 8 days) in the same area, but these places were not hostels. I could not make my own meals, which increased my costs. I would never recommend this hostel to anyone.

I am not one to leave negative reviews but this place deserves it. Other than the good location and friendly staff this place is awful and should be shut down. Massive stains on the carpets, stains on the 'new' bedding, curtains hanging off the rails, huge holes in the walls both in the bedrooms and in the bathroom, massive water damage in the bathrooms, no lock on the toilet doors, no working lights in the bathrooms... i could go on. Worst place I have ever stayed. please avoid. No idea how this place has over a 4 star rating.

We cannot rate this property as we did not get to stay! Arrived in the afternoon only to be told by young guests, sitting out the front, that the hostel was fully booked. No rooms available. Why? Simply because it had been totally booked out by an American school group. They were staying for quite some time. Thank goodness one of the girls rang the host for us because we didn’t have a working phone. We were told we had been booked into a hotel around the corner. It would have been nice to have been told this in advance especially since I had reconfirmed, via email, the day before as originally requested. We were to pay the same money and had been upgraded to a full breakfast rather than a continental one. On reflection, the hotel we had been booked into was probably better but that’s not really the point.

Spent four nights at the Pickwick Hall in Bloomsbury in October. It was our first hostel experience (we're a middle aged Canadian couple) and it was delightful. So quiet and welcoming.
Patrick and Staff could not have been more helpful with directions and suggestions. The room in the basement was large and airy..came complete with desk, large closet, microwave and fridge and hair dryer..very clean and comfortable beds. The free internet in the TV lounge was a great surprise and we used it daily. Lots of travel info available in the lobby...also access to laundry & telephones. The price was 49£ per night for a double ensuite and included a wee continental breakfast. Within walking distance to Sir John Sloane's & British Museums. Holborn tube Stn. is a five minute walk and is where at least two London Walks originate. The area is very safe with several lovely green spaces nearby. We would stay again..

The place is basic and nice enough but unless you enjoy having all your stuff removed from your room and put somewhere else while you are out sight seeing then DO NOT stay here. They seem to think that when they mess up their bookings they can just pack up your stuff and put you in a different room without discussing it with you. I was completely distraught when my stuff was gone and someone else was in my room and the owner was very unapologetic and did not care. Completely ruined my trip! It was my last night after a 7 night stay! Also, even if you book a Single room, they will give you a room with two beds. You are not allowed to use both beds otherwise they will charge you for it. They do not tell you this until you try to check out. BEWARE

Pickwick Hall was a lovely place to stay! Patrick was an extremely helpful host and was able to give us advice on where to go and how to get there. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, and continental breakfast is included in the already cheap price. A huge bonus is the location as it is near main attractions and the underground. Would definitely stay there again!

We were led to believe that the Pickwick was a clean hotel. What we encountered was a filthy hostel. There was mold in the walls. Mildew was growing everywhere. The sink in the communal kitchen was covered in mildew or mold--completely black. Mildew covered the walls around the sink and food preparation areas. Food, bread and jam were left open all day and was moldy. Dryed human hair was stuck to the carpet, which was torn. One of the bathrooms did not work at all. Cold showers. The "high speed internet" was slow and did not work all of the time. Stay away from this place!

Dear Naomi, Thank you for your inquiry. Guests are given keys to the front door as well as to their rooms when they check-in. You would then be able to return here at any time of the night. Kind regards, Patrick Patrick Hancock Pickwick Hall

It takes about 45 minutes on the underground to get to Pickwick. The tube station is about 2 blocks from the Hostel. very convenient. It has wifi and a continental breakfast.
