Nestled in a prime location for exploring, The Chamberlain Hotel offers guests the convenience of easy access to public transportation and landmarks. While the rooms are appreciated for their comfort and cleanliness, some visitors have noted they could be brighter and more up-to-date. The service earns compliments for its friendliness, though occasional lapses in efficiency are mentioned.
Guests enjoy a range of amenities, including a praised breakfast selection and a welcoming pub, but the atmosphere receives mixed reviews. The hotel's cleanliness is widely recognized, despite minor issues raised by a few.

Detailed Reviews
My wife and I love this place for many reasons. Firstly it's a short walk from Liverpool Street which makes it an ideal base when you're travelling in from Essex for an overnight stay. It's also in a great location, near Tower Hill tube for easy access around the city, and with various pubs and restaurants in the surrounding streets. The hotel itself is a real classy looking establishment with comfortable clean rooms, great beds and some nice complimentary treats awaiting visitors in their mini bar. The staff on the reception desk are super friendly and helpful, whilst the price for the rooms always appears to be very reasonable for what you get. Now for the down side - the breakfast! Not the food itself may I add (which is delicious) but for the chaotic staffing and lack of organisation. For the second consecutive time we had to ask someone to take our hot food order, and again there were things missing (no cereal bowls in this instance - we were pointed towards coffee cups for our cereal when we asked!) The breakfast is such a let down for the hotel when everything else is done so well. Hopefully they will get enough complaints to remedy these issues, at which point I would probably apply a 5 star rating. Also worth mentioning I couldn't get a drink in the hotel bar before the 11.30pm close which I was also disappointed with as I had to go over the road to the Slug & Lettuce. But... all in all, a really great hotel.

Dear Matt T First and foremost, thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. Here at the Chamberlain we appreciate all guest feedback as this allows us to focus our attentions when planning a refurbishment program, the facilities and services we offer and the training that we implement for the team. Our mission is to provide quality and comfortable accommodation with secondary services delivered by a warm and welcoming team, we also believe that from the moment our guests arrive to the day of their departure we will always do our utmost to ensure that they are made to feel welcome, with good hospitality, attention to detail and by going the extra mile where possible we hope that all our guests do have a great stay whilst with us. Reviews from repeat guests are always most valued as they are based on a experience rather then expectations It was with such disappointment to read that we were so successful in some areas and yet we failed miserably in others and for this I offer mine and the teams deepest apologies and regrets. I have passed your comments on to the restaurant team, so that they can look at their standards and implement the required changes to avoid a similar reoccurrence, We are pleased to advise that we will be re-opening the Chambers bar which serves late night beverages until 01:00 Wednesday to Saturday and as a hotel guest you receive a 15% discount on all purchases Matt T .Yet again my apologies for our shortfalls and thank you for your review it is greatly appreciated Regards Christopher J Hawkins Front of House Sales Manager

It might be redundant to add another five star review to an already so well reviewed property, but in case of the Chamberlain I would go out of my way to recommend it and have done so to colleagues and friends. The current closures most likely mean hardship for hotels and restaurants alike, so this feels like a good opportunity to past a review, despite our stays being a while back.
Overall, my wife and I stayed at the Chamberlain on multiple occasions for almost a month in total in 2017 and 2018, and we would happily go bac nowk if we could.
We stayed in a Deluxe Superior Room and had breakfast every day. The staff, including those in the pub and room maintanance are friendly, professional and not too "robotic" (as seen in other London hotels). Everyone we talked too seemed very charismatic, just as the property itself.
There are of course more luxurious places in London but I have yet to stay at a hotel which I found to be more charming overall. The Chamberlain for me has the perfect mixture of being "down to earth" while offering very high standards in quality and cleanliness, both in regards to the renovated rooms and the breakfast.
It this is your first time staying in London I would also recommend not staying in the more touristy areas around Kensington or north of Hyde Park e.g. Restaurants and businesses in the City generally have a more relaxed, authentic feel and are not as run over by tourists.
My wife and I really enjoyed the area - for us nothing beats walking to Tower Bridge to take in the sunset on the Thames and then leisurely stroll back to the Chamberlain when we are in London.

Dear Christian C First and foremost, our sincere apologies, on checking our guest review logs it was flagged that no one has responded to your review posted with regards to a past stay, this was due to the hotel being closed because of Covid19. Great value hotel with lovey, helpful staff. We arrived in London pretty early so headed to the hotel to see if they would store out bags until check-in time so we could start sightseeing. The staff member on reception not only allowed us to check-in early but he also gave us a free room upgrade. The bed in our room was absolutely huge and so comfortable. The room has all the amenities you could need, iron, iron g board, hairdryer, kettle, safe etc. Our room also had a Nespresso machine will complementary coffee pods. The food for breakfast was delicious. You have a choice of a buffet with cereals, fruit and pastries as well as a menu with hot food options. The full English breakfast was very tasty and there was plenty on the plate. A point to bare in mind is you have to request a room clean, however, this is very straightforward and the reception staff arranged this for us on the morning we requested it. The hotel is in a great location, just a few mins walk from Aldgate and Aldgate East tube station. The Tower of London and Tower Bridge are a 5 minute walk away. Try booking direct with the hotel as you get a 20% discount. We would definitely stay here again.

I booked The Chamberlain after reading great reviews and we were impressed. Our room was lovely, quiet even though it was front side and we both slept so well - the black out curtains on top did their job! Staff on reception were kind and the breakfast was really good - we like Fullers pubs generally so we knew we’d be ok. The free beers and water in the room were a nice touch. Definitely booking a Fullers hotel again! When you pay just as much for a Travelodge or a Premier Inn etc, it’s worth just having a little look at what else you can get. Plus it’s a good spot for the Tower of London and Brick Lane isn’t far.

Hotel is really close to Tower Hill and Aldgate tube station so very easy for getting about. It is decorated very nicely and the rooms are beautiful. Our room was a decent size, bed was large (King size) and the room had good amenities: toiletries included/nespresso machine/kettle/hair dryer/iron etc. Mini fridge included also with bottled water and milk (UHT milk though which was a shame).
Room was also very quiet and we weren't disturbed by any noise, and the hotel has lifts so easy to get around with luggage.
Only 2 things which could have been improved: the site said that there should have been bath robes but I don't think our room had any. Also the room was a little cold and we couldn't figure out how to use the thermostat for heating- I think this only controls air conditioning.
Extra special bits: we told the hotel that we were staying for our anniversary, and they decorated the room with balloons and rose petals, which was a really lovely touch. Also breakfast was absolutely fantastic- choice of continental breakfast plus you can order a hot breakfast. We both had a full english, and the continental buffet was generous and really good quality.
Would definitely return to this hotel, we were very impressed.

We booked here based upon general good reviews but mainly due to the location as my husband had a meeting in the city, so we were only here for 1 night. We arrived early , therefore our rooms weren't ready so the reception staff kindly offered to keep our luggage. Off we wandered until late afternoon when my son and I returned to freshen up before meeting with the hubby. Rooms were ready. We were amazed at the size and quality of our rooms, right next door to each other as requested. As previously mentioned in other reviews the rooms are fully kitted out with TV, kettle, complimentary beverages, iron, ironing board, mini fridge, sumptuous bedding and big fluffy towels. This really is a little gem. We took breakfast the following morning and due to covid, cooked breakfast is plated and served to you, which I prefer to a buffet anyway. Beautiful breakfast. Hot and tasty. Perfect. Also worth mentioning, every member of staff we engaged with was super friendly and polite, they looked as though they genuinely liked working there. We normally stay in a Plaza chain in Westminster.....we cancelled our August stay and booked here for 2 nights instead which the delightful young lady on reception arranged for us while we were checking out. Apparently she'd only been working there 3 weeks but you would never know. She was a credit to The Chamberlain . Our new favourite bolt hole in the City of London. See you soon guys and keep doing what you are doing as it's magnificent!

What a wonderful hotel in the heart of London. I really couldn't fault it. The staff throughout from reception to breakfast and domestic staff were so attentive. All in keeping with a high end hotel.
If you want your hotel room cleaned then you just put a note on your door for room service, I really don't understand previous posts saying their room wasn't cleaned. Also contact the hotel direct for the best rates, far cheaper than booking.com. I will definitely return to this hotel...amazing!

The hotel is greatly improved with the refit.. Very good bedroom snd bathroom but no soap..
After washing my hair I realised there was no hairdryer as well but one was bought up after a few minutes..
We were asked if we wanted our room cleaned to which we agreed but it wasn’t done so had to request clean towels snd coffee etc..
We found the breakfast buffet very minimal with hardly any fruit, no nuts or dried fruit and only one pastry (a croissant) The eggs on the cooked breakfast were very underdone and the sourdough toast tough..
We had a nightcap in the bar to which a service charge was added to an already overpriced bill.. When we refused to pay the service charge, which is optional, the senior member of staff was argumentative and rude.. We didn’t pay it..
Fabio on reception was extremely helpful snd polite and a credit to the hotel.. the majority of reception staff were helpful..
A lovely hotel but let down by my above points.

The Chamberlain is one of Fuller's brewery hotels and provides really good quality accommodation in the city at an excellent price. It is minutes away from Aldgate tube station and then you are minutes away from the Tower of London etc
The decor in the room and the public areas is lovely and the extra little touches (coffee machine and mini fridge in the room, beautiful toiletries in the bathroom) were unexpected. The shower was by far the best I've had in a hotel for quite some time and bath sheets were provided, not the miserable little towels that are more usual. The bed was comfy and the room very quiet.
The breakfast offer was very good, plenty of choice and served in the restaurant by the bar. Hotel guests get 15% discount on drinks and food in the pub.
We were very impressed with the Chamberlain Hotel and all the members of staff that we encountered and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good quality, well situated but reasonably priced hotel.

From the moment we arrived, we knew we had found a gem. The staff on reception we welcoming and helpful.
We got a free drink in the mini bar each day, as well as complimentary newspapers. All the toiletries and towels were lovely. There was dressing gowns and slippers as well as a free safe.
The room was spacious and well equipped with a coffee machine as well as kettle and all the vitals.
On going to the bar, we also found the staff to be helpful and always smiling, the drinks were reasonably priced for London and we also got 15% off as residents. The food was unusual and pleasant. The local amenities were also good, with Aldgate station and Tower hill within 5 mins walk. There was a nice variety of pubs nearby.
Throughly enjoyed our 3 night stay.

Yes, rather than go to the embankment (which will be packed) get over to Primrose Hill late afternoon, early evening.
It’s the other side of Regent’s Park, climb the slope to the viewing platform where you will have the best views of London anywhere and a fantastic panoramic view of the fireworks.
Get over by tube in the afternoon, “The Chamberlain” is just around the corner from Aldgate station somreally easy to get around the city. You can use your debit cards to travel if you don’t have Oyster cards.
Yes they do and it’s a proper blow dryer.
I've stayed there twice. Each time the room had a safe. I used them and they were in good working condition.
