Detailed Reviews
Hotel's Favourite
This is the best Holiday Inn I have ver stayed at (and I have stayed at a LOT!). genuinely.
The hotel has excellent service from very single member of staff without fail. The rooms are comfortable. The breakfast was excellent.
The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from Whitechapel tube station so be aware if you have heavy bags or mobility issues. It is located in a diverse working class neighbourhood. You are about 7 minutes walk from Shadwell overground station. There are bus stops outside. There are plenty of shops and fast food restaurants nearby but you do have to walk or catch a tube if you want a better dining experience.
Before we we arrived I had a mail confirming the hotel had upgraded our room! I have never had this in all my years of being a Platinum Elite member for the loyalty scheme. Often you have to argue for your upgrade at check in with other Holiday Inn. Outstanding!
My status was recognised on arrival and I was thanked for my loyalty in a genuine fashion. We were given two complimentary drinks as our welcome amenity and when we came to redeem we could choose virtually any drink, including spirits. I chose a glass of wine and got a 175ml glass of my choosing. Not the 125ml glass of the cheapest house wine as most Holiday Inns try to get away with. What a refreshing change!
Our room was comfortable, quiet and had nice blackout curtains. The bed and bedding were comfortable. The air conditioning was effective. Our King Executive had a kettle and a Nespresso machine. We had two bottles of water and a chunky kitkat provided complimentary each day of the stay. TV was large. Wardrobe as spacious, but only one set of bedside drawers. good lighting and plenty of plugs and USB ports.
Bathroom wasn't huge but was well appointed. Shower over bath with nice deep bath. Full size pump dispense shower gel, shampoo and conditioner with hand wash and body lotion by the sink.
The rooms were very clean and housekeeping efficient.
Breakfast was very good. Plenty of choice. Hot and cold. You could also order from a menu for things like omelettes. Pancake machine available. Service at breakfast was friendly and efficient.
I cannot speak highly enough of this hotel. The room is generous (and from the floor plan ours was a smaller room) and very comfortable. Breakfast is great. What really makes this place outstanding is the service from the staff. It is genuinely the best Holiday Inn I have ever stayed with anywhere in the world.
The only downside is the location. However, if you are happy with a ten minute walk from the the tube then you will be fine. You can be at Bond Street in central London via the Elizabeth line or the Tower of London via the District line within 10 minutes too. Whitechapel tube has lifts to platform level too. You do need to walk or catch public transport to find nice restaurants.
Locally I recommend Amber restaurant, 15 minutes away for middle eastern food. The Jack the Ripper Museum and Walking Tours are also worth checking out.

The staff were excellent. The initial room we were given smelled strongly of smoke, despite having a non-smoking policy in the hotel. Within a day (they were fully booked & could not move us immediately), the day/night manager provided us a "new" room of same quality (but no smoke smell). The breakfast staff were especially excellent, providing me a Starbucks double espresso several times during our 1+ week stay. The hotel is excellent & good value, but the location in East London is not the best part of town...

Nice stay at the holiday inn. Staff were brilliant, very helpful & friendly. Room was clean & had everything we needed, breakfast was delicious & good choice. The hot food has to be served to you but tell them what you want & they will get it for you. Not a problem for us but sorry to say some people complaining & 2 particular vulgar people helping themselves despite staff asking them politely not to & then they became abusive to a lovely waiter who was clearly new & trying to do his best. I was glad to see the next morning a lot more staff at breakfast so if it had happened again there was more support for the staff who had to put up with these people, although we didn’t see them again. Not the hotels fault you get all sorts & I don’t see an issue with them serving the food to you, it’s certainly more hygienic & they will give you as much it as little as you want.
No parking but can park in bays on that street if it’s after 5pm on a Friday until 8am Monday I believe. Not ideal as not exactly secure parking but in London to find a hotel with parking is difficult or a lot more expensive. Would use this hotel again.

+1
The new build hotel was quite striking and the lobby was quirky but inviting. I had a very nice welcome to the hotel where I was recognised as a IHG Spire Ambassador member and given a rundown of the facilities available as well as being offered either welcome amenity points or a free drink.
My room was bright & fresh and was reasonably spacious, initially it appeared that there was no storage but due to clever design there was plenty of usable space. There was a desk fan next to the TV so that indicated that the aircon wasn't working but that turned out not to be the case and the aircon worked well throughout my stay. The bed was comfortable and the mini fridge was appreciated. The shower was powerful and complimentary toiletries were provided.
The Holiday Inn London-Whitechapel totally exceeded my expectations due to the incredibly attentive and approachable staff members and good facilities. The hotel is in a good position opposite Watney Market and is a 5 minute walk to Shadwell DLR / Overground stations. It is around a 20 minute walk from Fenchurch Street.

Really nice stay overall! We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room and how clean everything was (kudos to the cleaning service). The room had all expected amenities (endless hot water was a huge plus) and the reception was ready to provide everything else we needed (eg socket adapters).
The staff was kind and professional, very helpful, trying to make our stay as comfortable as they could. Many thanks to Flor, a friendly hostess who was always looking after us and made sure to advise us, so we'd make the most out of our vacation!
Breakfast buffet was diverse and the quality of the food was great. Was regularly restocked and one can order some more 'special' dishes from the staff, at no extra charge. That said, I would have definitely enjoyed a slightly larger buffet or variations from day to day.
Something to be noted is that, while the hotel provides a free wireless internet connection, most of the time speeds are on the slow side, making it hard to suggest for working remotely, sometimes devices refusing to connect outright. (+Having to 'sign in' to the wifi again every 24h, an unnecessary hassle). These networking issues were also apparent in the room's smart tv, where casting wasn't working.
Hotel's location is ideal in terms of transport, as it's near the Whitechapel tube station and many bus stops. However, the aesthetic of the neighborhood, or lack thereof, should definitely be reflected in the hotel's pricing, as a slight decrease is only fair (that said, hotel can't really be considered overpriced, so for London a that's good thing).
Close to the hotel you can find many convenience stores and small restaurants to grab a quick bite or have a drink.
All in all, I might come back to this establishment in the future. If it weren't for its few (but noteworthy) shortcomings, I could easily recommend it as a great place to stay in London.

This was booked as a 2 night stay.
Location is not worthy of general Holiday Inn standards - poor, run down and intimidating.
Prince (at the front desk) was welcoming and offered a high level of customer service.
When I got to my room, it seemed comfortable enough but upon close examination, the curtains were drooping from the runners. I took this as a minor situation and left it as that.
I then attempted to run a bath...no hot water. So took a cold shower instead.
The next morning, I came down to breakfast. The waiter looked at me as though I had stepped out from 'Mars'. I gave him my room number and proceeded to sit at a table (with no guidance) and selected my breakfast from the buffet. To my astonishment, a lady came and sat right next to me (approx. 5 mins later) and was asked if she would like tea or coffee?
When finished, I asked to speak to the manager. The person on front desk asked what it was regarding. How, in front of paying guests am I going to complain about personal matters? He would not let me talk to the manager. I therefore went to my room and insisted that by midday I would cancel my reservation for the night and book elsewhere.
Incidentally, I asked the cleaning lady to show me how to turn on the hot water, she immediately stated - you will have to call maintenance!

Booked this hotel for a midweek break. Located not too far from Whitechapel tube station. We easily walked to the tube station along Cavell Street in about 10 minutes. There was garbage piled on a couple of local street corners but presumably that is down to the borough council not the hotel and will undoubtedly be blamed on the current Covid situation. We booked an executive room and it was just as described in the web pages. Large room with lots of space. The bed was huge and very comfortable with lovely fresh smelling good quality linen. The bathroom was well equipped with both an adjustable and a large overhead "rain" shower. Bath and screen was nice and clean. The morning shower was not as hot as the in the evening but was probably peak usage time. Easily operated wall safe. Adequate wardrobe with iron and hairdryer. Nice clean cold fridge and a coffee maker were also available and used. A large screen TV and a DAB radio/bluetooth speaker come alarm was also present. Decoration and carpets etc were all in good order. View out of the window was a bit of a let down as the room was located at the back of the building but was not an issue. The lobby, bar and restaurant areas were adequate but we didn't indulge. This hotel is good value for money especially for zone 1-2 area. No problem getting an Uber taxi for that easy drive into the west end. Plenty of bars, eating places and shops on the A11 (near the tube station). Overall we had a very nice time and would probably return.

I booked to stay here on a Saturday night as I was seeing some friends that the evening. It was relatively cheap, so did honestly expect something that wasn't too good, but it was really nice The location is great - Not too far away from Shoreditch, only a short drive away from all the restaurants and bars there. The service was great - staff were very friendly. They gave me a wonderful room with a massive bed. No complaints.

Had the worst experience ever. Tv didn’t work which I reported to reception and no one fixed it. Next morning whilst getting ready to checkout the toilet leaks so moved to another room which btw Ac was as working and in our previous room it wasn’t.
They refunded me for parking, went in fact they should refund me for my stay and not my car park. Worst experience ever, all I wanted was my rights to a refund for the awful experience otherwise I won’t be wasting my time doing a review. Won’t 100% be returning

I was a little worried about staying in hotels due to the current pandemic, however after seeing the IHG clean promise I decided to use a Holiday Inn and I wasn't let down.
The hotel is immaculately clean and I frequently saw staff cleaning areas. They were able to provide me with some anti-bac which set my mind at ease. Room was spotless and comfortable.
I would recommend anyone slightly nervous about travelling to look at this hotel.

Walk to Victoria Underground station and take the District line eastbound to Whitechapel, walk to the hotel from there.
No...but general manager&his managers only interested in your money to spend...awful service, avoid it despite the rate
No, but the desk may carry them.
If you are taking the Eurostar, you should be arriving at King's Cross St Pancras. From there, you can take the "Hammersmith & City" metro line and get off at Whitechapel station. It's about a 10 mins walk from there. However, you will have to walk through a few streets with lefts and right turns. So I recommend you print out a local map from Google and bring it with you. Or use Google Maps on your smartphone, provided you have mobile data service. If you are bringing many suitcases, then I would recommend you take a taxi. It will costs you around 20 English Pounds but saves you the hassle of riding public transportation while lugging around your suitcases.
