Be prepared for a very frosty check in experience. So much for first impressions - while the hotel reception is nice, the receptionist who checked us in was not so much. Firstly no welcome, hello, or a simple duty of care. Rather we where welcomed with “ID please”, like some below par night club. Secondly, after checking both our passports like an immigration officer, the receptionist abruptly informed us that she did not have our booking under either of our names. While scrambling for the email to prove “we can stay” she magically found it. She then quickly prompted us to present a credit card and set us on our way. While the receptionist next to her appeared much friendlier, I would suggest the receptionist checking us in shadow her for some work experience. I should mention that the guests next to us where welcomed with a refreshment - we where offered nothing and had to prompt for directions to the lift. No outline of the hotel facilities, restaurants, bar, dinner/breakfast times or personal recommendations. Not acceptable! While we have just checked in, the settling in experiences was dismal and very off putting. Being honest feel like spending my 5 nights elsewhere. Follow Up after Checking Out. 26/09/22 While I appreciate they guest experience team reaching out and leaving a bottle of Prosecco in our room. I don’t accept the “guest” in this case me should go looking for the guest experience team. While you say you attempted to “locate me” - I was in the hotel for 5 nights and 6 days, frequented breakfast 4 mornings and was available in my room at various times throughout the stay - I did not receive and messages on my phone, messages under my door or was never approached for the right reasons at breakfast. I do not think for a second you really wanted my feedback and you should of made it your business, prior to my check out to locate me. Overall the hotel guest experience was a let down. The property is beautiful, new and well located, however the overall service is very dissatisfying. When at breakfast - again we felt as if we where an inconvenience. We had to give our room number at least 4 times, once on arrival and three times throughout breakfast. The team was disorganized and there is a lack of communication between the wait staff and the kitchen. The lady sat next to us never got her breakfast and had to chase it. We sat at our seat and on any day did anyone explain where the buffet was, what was available from the menu. Really had to probe for information and again the “bill” was left on our table without clarifying if there is anything else the wait staff could provide. While the product at the buffet is of good quality it’s not plentiful and not replenished to meet demand. We used room service a few times during our stay - the quality was just ok. Again, I felt I was being a nuisance by the agent on the phone. The waiter would come to the door and was not in any way attentive or of a 5 star standard. One morning we asked for room service at 6am - we where told that noting was available and the kitchen is closed! While this may be the case - it’s not difficult to offer alternatives or even offer breakfast when it’s available at 6:30. It’s not acceptable to tell a a customer a straight no without emphasizing alternatives or offering a solution. These experiences resonate with the overall “frosty” tone set at check in. I’m providing this feedback not to look for something or expect anything in return - I just feel the overall experience did not meet our expectations. The Middle Eight falls short of many hotel experiences I’ve had in the past. Overall The hotel is well located, new and beautifully decorated but I feel the guest experience is not there, not 5 star and has a lot of work to do. Resonating with other reviews - some highs but too many lows to return to this hotel.…
This Hotel was perfectly located, intimate, and extremely clean. The staff was amazing, the facilities and amenities were perfect, and I couldn't have asked for a better stay in London. The gym was small, but provided plenty of equipment to workout, the restaurant was nice, and the bar was perfectly placed. Would highly recommend! Worth every penny!
I would highly recommend staying at this hotel. I had a two nights stay. Upon arrival check-in was smooth thanks to Rasha. She was cordial and did the check-in very quickly. The rooms are a decent size given the location. Saq showed me the room features and was always quick to inquire about me if I saw him during my stay. I found the attitude of the other staff similar, including James at breakfast. Overall a very good experience and good people running the hotel.
An excellent service at the breakfast by Fernando. The front desk for the check in also excellent service at welcome. Room very good and excellent chocolate and strawberry at arrival. Breakfast with variety and all food at high quality. The place to stay in London.
This was our first - but not last - visit to this hotel! From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable. A welcome drink was provided and Reception staff came to us to book us in. Member of staff took us to our room and gave us information on all the facilities. Room was very comfortable and noise free even though we were at the front of the building. Everything in the room was first class especially the bed and bedding. Air conditioning very quiet. Breakfast was very enjoyable with, as usual, very attentive staff. Hotel in a very good location.
Stayed here for a week. Perfect location. Plenty to see within walking distance. Granted, I walked 12 miles a day according to my app. So your mileage may vary. Quiet, clean, good size rooms. Friendly staff. Area around the hotel is nice. Subway not too far away that will take you to/from the airport.
It is a nice hotel, with a very nice breakfast but in any case, the big difference is Fernando. Thank you very much for making feel like at home. You have a lot of options, juice, eggs, international food, amazing granola with yogurt and fresh fruits…
One of the best-hidden gems in London has to offer! The ambiance of Middle Eight, from the hotel lobby all the way to the room, was excellent. Beginning with check-in and the service provided...Middle Eight is not afraid to say "yes" to requests (based on availability, of course). Early check-in, late check-out, comp mini fridge, and more. Room decor just creates a unique and enjoyable space to relax. The rooms are spacious and quiet with extremely comfortable beds. A sincere shout out to Saq, who not only greeted me with a smile and welcomed me/us back but went above and beyond to make certain our stay was enjoyable. We will look forward to staying at the Middle Eight again in December.
I had a great stay & really liked the hotel. My Urban Deluxe room was nicely decorated, well soundproofed & equipped with fridge, tea/coffee making, & a big Chromecast TV. Bath products are upscale & in abundance & the dressing gowns particularly luxuriant. The split level public spaces are glossy but understated. Check-in was slick from smartly clad receptionists & a welcome drink offered. I didn't use it, but there is a small gym. Location wise, it is ideal, situated on a handsome street close to Covent Garden. The only let down was that staff didn't appear to be at all informed about the opening hours of the bar & restaurant. I double checked before heading out to the theatre that the restaurant & bar would still be serving food upon my return as I was keen to eat in-house & indeed, had chosen the hotel because its website indicated food was served until 11pm. I presented myself post-theatre at 10pm & was brusquely told by a waitress that they’d stopped serving food in both the restaurant & the bar, with room service the only option. I sought guidance from reception staff & others but nobody seemed quite sure what the score was, weakly suggesting the website hours had perhaps not been updated. Two weeks later, they still haven't. The hotel has been trading for over a year now & pitches itself high - so staff really ought to be better drilled (though all with the exception of the brusque waitress) were polite & charming. Overall, this was a great stay & Middle Eight is undoubtedly a fine hotel, which with a few modest tweaks would get a 5 out of 5 from me.…
Fantastic place and very friendly staff just a pity windows, dont open as even with air conditioning on it was still very hot with underfloor heating the executive suite not as good as expected beds very comfortable but no explanation of what is included for breakfast etc could do with a leaflet in the room
