The Tower Hotel boasts a prime location that guests consistently commend for its convenience and proximity to attractions. However, some travelers feel that the hotel does not provide good value, pointing to steep prices and additional charges that mar the experience. While the cleanliness of the hotel often receives positive remarks, the dated bathrooms and sporadic maintenance suggest room for improvement.
Guests are divided on the rooms and service, citing outdated decor and variable staff responsiveness as drawbacks. Despite these concerns, the amenities are generally well-received, though noise levels can be an issue for some.

Detailed Reviews
As mentioned in all reviews excellent location, however standards have slipped over the years. Rooms very much in need of refurbishment - wallpaper off wall and bathroom door needing repainted. Limited toiletries only one set per twin room and no longer any body lotion. More can be requested from housekeeping. Tea and coffee limited also and can again be requested from housekeeping - only one biscuit per twin room!! Bathroom bin not emptied on arrival. Twin room now only has one bedside cabinet between the beds, not enough for two people staying. Many rooms say bridge view and have had that luxury previously however this visit the bridge was only visible standing at the window not from all aspects of the room. Breakfasts are excellent although the breakfast rooms can be a bit airy. The majority of the staff are very helpful and obliging but this does not extend all the way up.

Stayed for one night booked through hotel direct company with train included.
A room over looking the Thames but could also see into neighbours room ( not very good ) always shut you’re curtains.
Room
Direct across from elevator minimal noise heard through night.
The rooms contained en en suite bath /shower toilet and came with complimentary shampoo / conditioner and shower gel. Towels provided.
Hair dryer television and kettle in room
With complimentary tea and coffee never enough milk.
The hotel was great location for the tower bridge and short walk to the shard. Would definitely stay again if a couple
Not good for families.
Bar in hotel xl on first floor had happy hour around 6pm 30% off drinks great choice of drinks.
Be open minded and it’s a two people room hotel and you only sleep there.
We didn’t have breakfast so cannot comment
Starbucks downstairs in lobby

We booked to stay here for a weekend as a birthday treat. 2 nights cost £245 for a room with a bridge view and no breakfast. Not to bad a price I guess for the location and view.
Location was good, right next to Tower Bridge, and tower hill tube station was 10 minute walk away.
Check in was pleasant and easy. We made our way tot he room and one of our hotel room key cards didn't worth, so we had to go back and get a new cad.
On entering, the room was a good size, clean, but a bit dated. THe bed was a good size and comfortable. It's 2 beds joined into one with a topper, but you could still feel the join. There was a table and only one arm chair which was rather annoying. There was two of us so ideally 2 chairs would have been nice at the table. Instead we had to pull the desk chair over for one of us to sit on.
We had booked a tower bridge view which we got and looked amazing, especially at night.
There was tea/coffee making facilities. iron and ironing board, safe, and 2 hair dryers. The built in one in the desk was no good. When you switched it on there was a burning smell from it and it got very hot. Luckily there was a separate branded one in the room for us to use.
Bathroom was good and the shower was nice. The extractors didn't work to well and the bathroom steamed up a lot.
There were switches for do not disturb and service room which lit up a little sign outside the room which was pretty cool. saves on paper and also the risk of them falling off the door.
We tried the room service for breakfast which was great. Although the staff member held his hand out for a tip even before giving us our food which was rather rude.
Check out was easy and the hotel were happy to look after our bags until the evening

Fifth time we have stayed at the Tower, we return To treat our parents to a weekend in London due to the helpful, friendly and accommodating staff, central and convenient location with stunning views of London Bridge.
Our parents were located in executive rooms with bridge views, both of which offered comfort with enviable views of London Bridge, as well as some extras such as espresso coffee and large comfortable bed.
In London to see the royal marine Mountbatten festival of music , the location was convenient for this and picturesque walks past iconic London landmarks such as the tiower of London, HMS Bristol and the Shard.
We are at the local Vicinity restaurant based in the hotel which provided a small but varied menu that accommodates gluten free and vegan options. Slightly pricey but in context with London prices, The service, food and wine were all excellent.
Breakfast at the hotel was a very high standard with a very wide choice that suited most dietary needs. Needing to sit 6 people , one of which was a wheelchair user, the breakfast host Bersima was exceptionally helpful ensuring suitable table space was made available.
All in all another good stay where all parties were well attended and comfortable and went away relaxed and happy.

Dear sharon e, Thank you so much for such a great review. I'm so delighted to read that all went extremely well for you and that once again we did not disappoint you. I noted that we could accommodate you for breakfast as a group table which is not always possible, of course this is really better to be all together. Basima is a great host and good on her that she did her best to make this possible for all of you. Nice to see you once more time and many more to come hopefully. Best regards, Bechir Messaoud Hotel Manager

At the Tower Hotel it's easy to believe you're in a 4-star property until you go to your room. The lobby is large and modern, the desk service is pleasant, the concierge is very accommodating, and the restaurant is bright and busy with a smart menu and a view that looks out to the Tower Bridge. Upstairs, the hallways are just a bit closed-in and creepy and the room feels like an old motel. To be fair, the bed was comfortable (it was a twin, which I found odd), the room was a decent size and the water pressure in the shower was strong. However, the carpet was clearly stained, the shower was uncomfortably narrow and the air conditioning did not work as expected (the room was warm and when I called housekeeping to ask how to get cooler air, I was told to turn the air conditioning off - but i still had to open a window to get cool air). The desk, drawers, closet, doors and bed were all very old and worn, and in place of a minibar or frige there was simply a locked door that said there was no refrigerator.
Still, the hotel was livable. There is a free breakfast buffet and the hotel's location immediately adjacent to the Tower Bridge, Tower of London, several pubs and the Tower Hill tube stop make this is a good home base with the opportunity for some interesting casual walks.

My partner and I stayed in a suite at the tower hotel as part of a few days in London for her birthday.
We booked the suite during COVID via secret escapes as the price was good value (we paid £140 per night) and it ensured we would have nice views of at Katherines bay. Looking at hotel prices today, the same suite would cost £235 b&b.
We were on the 11th floor with a fantastic view of the tower bridge and the Thames. If you enjoy people watching like we do then this is a fantastic location.
The room itself was a little dated and worn and in need of redecoration but the actual space was really nice with a lounge, small kitchen, walk in wardrobe and a large bedroom and bathroom.
We also had the gym on our floor (small but adequate) which was a bonus.
The public areas were of a good standard and reception staff were polite and professional as expected. The hotel was actually really busy which was actually nice to see with most guest appearing to be from the UK (presumably most people are holidaying locally this year due to COVID).
The breakfasts was really nice 👍 but as you can imagine, there is no self service at the moment which restricts you a little.
There is a bar/restaurants attached to the hotel which is called “Vicinity”. Lovely views of the Thames and tower bridge in a fairly secluded location (no passing traffic unless they were guests of the hotel). Drinks were London prices (£7.50 for a glass of wine) but we didn’t mind too much as the view were good. You can also order drinks online via the app and then the waiter brings them to your table.
The location of the hotel is really good…. It is litterally on at Katherine dock which is a beautiful part of london. The hotel overlooks tower bridge, is 2 minutes walk from the Tower of London and is within walking distance of the City of London (20 minutes slow walk).
All in all, we had a really lovely stay and the location of the hotel is a great base for anywhere you may wish to go whilst visiting London.
We wouldn’t pay £235 for a suite but £140 was a bargain so look out for deals during COVID and grab a bargain.

We have just finished a weekend away celebrating my wife’s birthday and I decided to book the Gouman Tower Hotel as we have stayed previously. That was the best move ever !!
The actual service received from the point of making the booking to arriving at the hotel was just amazing. I dealt with Bernadett who was a new sales representative and it just shows the hotel take real pride in the abilities of their staff. Nothing and I mean nothing was left. She had everything nailed.
Bernadette - you are a pleasure to work with and the Gouman hotel chain should really take care of you as your personality and friendliness coupled with your knowledge makes the stay even more enjoyable.
Our room was facing London Bridge which in itself you cannot beat purely as a result of the hotel location. You are so near you could reach out and touch it. The actual steps to go onto the bridge are literally 1 minute walk from the front door of the hotel.
On Saturday there were loads of food stalls outside catering for every diet and liking albeit you are not short of restaurants. We ate in the IVY just over the bridge so 5 mins walk.
Sunday (today) we started the day with the sun shining and the London Vitality run was underway so hundreds and thousands of people running over the bridge.
Off home home on the train up north and I hope it’s not too long before we can come back to this lovely hotel and enjoy the customer service excellence all hotels should strive for.
Once again thank Bernadett. We look forward to seeing for in the very near future.
Regards
Ivor

This is the second time we have stayed at The Tower. The location is ideal for exploring the Tower Bridge area with many famous sights within walking distance and overlooking St Katherine's dock with all the bars/restaurants to choose from and just a short 5 minute walk to the nearest tube station. The hotel is comfortable and there is a choice of bars and restaurants. The reception and concierge staff are extremely pleasant, friendly and helpful. We arrived 3 hours before check-in time however our room was available and we were able to check in early.
The room was a decent size overlooking St Katherine's Dock. There was complimentary still and sparkling water in the room, tea and coffee making facilities and complimentary toiletries. The bed was very comfortable, the air conditioning was a little loud but we both slept really well.
The bathroom was small and in need of some maintenance. The grouting around the tiles was poor and cracked and there was evidence of leaking through into the bedroom. It was clean but tired and in need of general repair and decoration.
Breakfast was busy and chaotic. It wasn't obvious where to get hot drinks and toast. The hot buffet was served to us and there was plenty of choice for meat eaters but no vegetarian option. The juices and cold buffet items had run out and were slow to be replenished.
Despite the few issues raised, we would stay here again due to it's position and value for money and the positives of our stay outweighed the negatives.

Sorry for the delay in writing my review. We stayed here for the second time in the Summer of 2019 because of the location.
We booked an executive room to be able to use the lounge for breakfast and snacks but being told when we arrived that it was closed during the week (during the day) and not open until 5pm on a week day. When the room rate includes use of a lounge I feel it should be open to use during the day. Therefore breakfast had to be taken with hordes of holiday groups and it was so busy I had a coffee and walked out.
It is obvious that the hotel has changed dramatically as the downstairs breakfast room has also disappeared. It's now a restaurant (Vicinity).
I sent my comments to management after receiving a feedback for on out return home but I doubt they will do anything about it.
On a positive, the location is good, the view of Tower Bridge is amazing and the boats are available to take you into town. (Or you can walk along the south bank)

Dear nannygail, Thank you for staying with us at the Tower Hotel and for taking the time to write us your feedback regarding your stay with us in the Summer of 2019. I do apologise that you were disappointed with the Club Lounge not being opened for the whole day during the weekdays. I do understand why you would prefer it this way as the breakfast restaurant can get very busy due to the large amount of guests that we get staying with us at one time. We appreciate your feedback as we do use this to implement ways to improve guest experience. Despite your disappointment, we are happy to know that you were still impressed with the location and the amazing views overlooking the Tower Bridge. Thank you for your feedback and we do hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to the hotel in the future. Kind regards, Bechir Messaoud Hotel Manager

I was disappointed with the customer service at this hotel. Our stay was for 3 nights in an executive room with free minibar. On our arrival on Saturday we found the mini bar in the room was not working & there was no wine - should have been 2 x 250mls of white & 2 tins of coke cola were missing + 1 still bottle of water. Also the curtains would not close shut hence letting light into the room. On our way out early evening we spoke to reception & they said they would get someone to look at it. On our return in the evening the curtain had been repaired but no sign of the fridge being repaired or the missing items. We then on Sunday morning after breakfast visited reception to reiterate our complaints & they said this would be attended to. On our return late afternoon a small portable fridge had been placed in our room although not switched on & no sign of the missing drinks! I then went down & spoke to the duty manager who phoned housekeeping & said this would be sorted. It wasn’t. On Monday morning we happened to be in the lift with a manager (Dreiss??)who asked us if everything was ok. When we told him of our exasperation he said he would attend to it. He actually did as he said & left us a bottle of wine with some chocolates & mended the fridge. However, housekeeping decided not to make up our room!! I fo find it hard to understand why this took so long in a supposedly 4 star restaurant!! Other than this the breakfast choice was good & the views from the hotel were good

Response from Bechir M, Manager at The Tower Hotel
Responded 22 Feb 2020
Dear Mr and Mrs Richert, I am so sorry to hear that there was quite some wait to have your concerns addressed and I fully understand the frustrations to which this leads. I have personally spoken to Dries who reassured me he was recently in contact with you to discuss these concerns and find a way forward. I trust this has therefore been addressed in the meantime and despite this, we hope to have the pleasure on welcoming you back in the future. Kind regards, Bechir Messaoud Hotel Manager

Yes there are exercise bike in the gym
Hello. If the room is available, I believe you can get a family room with tower view. The hotel is huge so I can’t see the room not being available.
Not a problem leaving luggage with the concierge for the day - we found the concierge staff very helpful and polite. They are a credit to the hotel.
