Wealth courses through The King's Road, Chelsea's upmarket artery of West London life packed with shops, eateries and glitzy nightspots. For people-watching at its best and luxury retail therapy that's largely unrivalled, this area cannot be missed. But if this showy street starts to overwhelm or a moment of price tag shock sends you reeling, a quick detour down pretty much any of many King's Road veins will reveal a quieter side of Chelsea. Here the stately Royal Hospital hosts its world-famous flower show, and the Thames rolls along at a lazy pace, with leafy Battersea Park and its Peace Pagoda beckoning from across the river.

My daughter booked tea for us as a birthday treat for me. She has a couple of allergies, including dairy but The Egerton could not have been kinder to us. The manager rang the morning of our visit, and came to introduce herself when we arrived. The chef had gone out of his way

I am allergic to cats and dogs (asthma). Does the hotel have any pet-free rooms or areas?
Dear OhioSilverLaker1, Thank you very much for your question. Our policy is to have every room where pets have stayed over thoroughly deep cleaned following their departure. However please do bare in mind that in our public areas of our bar and drawing room we do have dogs joining us for afternoon tea on a daily basis. Should you be considering staying with us please do not hesitate to get in touch with me direct at the hotel and it will be my pleasure to discuss the details of your potential booking with you. I am very much looking forward to hearing from you. Warmest regards, Michelle Devlin General Manager

is there wheelchair access?
Dear Claire U, Thank you very much for reaching out to us. Unfortunately due to the layout of the hotel and several stairs outside and within the hotel, we do not provide wheelchair access. We do however have 5 sister properties in London that are wheelchair accessible. Please visit our website for further information. If you have any further questions or queries please do not hesitate to contact us. Warm regards Michelle Devlin General Manager
