A stunning property on the bank of Lake Windermere perfectly positioned to discover all that the Lake District has to offer and the delights of Windermere and Ambleside close by. A grand building with large and comfortable guest rooms with all the comforts of home and most have lake views. The 2 Rosette award-winning lake view restaurant is the place to indulge in expertly crafted dishes using the very best in local produce. Settle down next to a roaring log fire and enjoy a pint of award-winning cask ale or a chilled glass of wine. When the summer sun is shining, swap the log fire for the glorious terrace and overlook the endless views of the lake and magnificent six acres of landscaped gardens. Part of The House of Daniel Thwaites collection.

I attended a wedding at Langdale Chase and it was christmassy perfection. A stunning, cosy and atmospheric hotel with professional and highly attentive staff. Nothing felt like too much trouble. Kevin especially was an absolute hero. Thanks for a great weekend!

We enjoyed a delicious Sunday lunch with fabulous views over lake Windermere. Emily and Renee looked after us and made us feel so welcome. The Langdale Chase is a beautiful hotel, full of character, with beautiful rooms to explore and relax and be well looked after by caring staff who made our visit complete. We can’t wait to return. Thank you.

Having read many of the reviews I can only assume that none had been put in the room with the leaking ceiling in the bathroom. Judging by the large black mouldy area which had small holes drilled to release the water it was obviously not a new problem. When questioning was told the maintenance man was not available so we put up with a bath mat which was replaced each time it was soaked. We didn't even bother to request another room as there was a board outside saying 'fully booked' . We had gone away to celebrate our anniversary and to have a restful time. I was determined not to get worked up about it and spoil an event we were so looking forward to. It was made bearable as the food was okay and the staff in all areas very helpful and friendly. There are a few other things I could mention but when the refurbishment is done the issues will be resolved. That said there is still the matter of 'standards'and unfortunately they seem to be sparse especially as the prices are high, although in this case should be irrelevent. I originally passed these comments directly as the Hotel requested a review and to this day no one has had the decency to reply, so it says it all!!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your food and found the staff to be friendly, but sorry to hear that you felt disappointed with your room standard. The last thing we would ever want is for you to leave disappointed with your anniversary stay and we would welcome the opportunity to discuss these issues directly with us and see if there is a way we can restore your faith in Langdale Chase. Should you wish for us to get in touch please contact our team on relax@langdalechase.co.uk with your contact details and we will be delighted to hear from you.

This is a great place - very atmospheric, historical building with simply wonderful gardens and views across the lake. What makes it, however, is the exceptional friendliness, attentiveness and efficiency of the staff. They simply can't do enough for you. Every aspect of our stay was enjoyable. Ask for room 2,3, 6 or 7.
