We have just returned from a 6 day break at The Grasmere and what a break it was! The team was absolutely wonderful, cheerful all the time and nothing was too much trouble. To remain so positive in these difficult times is marvellous. The food as usual was of the highest standard with an excellent choice to suit everyone. I only hope I can get a booking for Christmas 2022!

Team Winsland provided all the guests with the most wonderful Christmas. The Hotel is a wonderful retreat based in the special village of Grasmere, Cumbria in the heart of the Lake District. This was our 26th Christmas here broken only last year when Covid-19 ruined everyone’s Christmas. The safety protocols this year were implemented to perfection making everyone feel very safe and protected. Rooms as always are very comfortable and the food would not be out of place on Masterchef (The Professionals). The USP of the Grasmere Hotel for us is the close family atmosphere- if you want to see and experience a team provide 5* professional service despite the horrendous difficulties caused by Covid and staffing difficulties the Grasmere should be the benchmark. Nothing is allowed to get in the way of setting the highest standards in cuisine and service in this truly family business, all done in such a friendly way making you feel part of the family. Kevin, Nicki, Charlotte and Bex, with Jade ably supported by Tom and Pete (soon to be in-laws) in the background did us all proud. It is no wonder they continue to earn prestigious awards which they are justly proud. Thank you for another wonderful Christmas.

We have just returned from a two night stay at this fantastic hotel. The attention to detail and professionalism was second to none. Every member of staff were attentive and polite… we were made to feel very welcome and special. The food we ate was delicious as well as the lovely wines on offer, even the request for extra crispy bacon and sausage at breakfast was done to perfection. ( dare I say the best hotel breakfast yet! )

Stayed here with friends for two nights recently and we certainly plan on coming back again. We had a nice warm welcome on arrival with offer of tea or coffee in the lounge. The hotel is a lovely old building with plenty of character and the rooms were more than comfortable. We’d booked dinner, bed and breakfast and the food was superb with excellent service from the staff who helped make it such a comfortable stay. Only thing they couldn’t do was sort the weather out for the Saturday but after all, it is the Lakes!
