My friend and I went to Bridgewood Manor for an afternoon tea to celebrate her birthday, on our arrival we was taken to a seating area with a coal fire, the waitress came up to us and asked what we’d like to drink? We ordered our food and both food and drink was brought to us, i explained we was there as it was my friends birthday, so within minutes the 2 waitresses brought a plate with cakes on and Happy Birthday written in chocolate sauce, it brought tears to my fiends eyes, not sad tears definitely happy tears, the staff and food was amazing the staff made our visit worthwhile, we will definitely return and recommend this to anyone wanting to book an afternoon tea. Thank you for everything
Me, my husband, daughter and son in law stayed over for the Bridgewood Manor New Years Eve Gala Night. We had a brilliant evening. We arrived early but our rooms were ready and we were delighted to be told by the lovely, friendly receptionist that our rooms had been upgraded. The rooms were lovely. Everything in abundance re shampoo, shower gel etc. Free drinks in the fridge including wine and 2 welcome robes to relax in. Afternoon tea was included in the deal and we lined up for warm scones with jam and cream. Teas and coffees were from the machine and you helped yourself. A delicious start. Back to our rooms for showers and naps (in the robes!) before the big night. Everyone had made the effort and looked the part, smart casual or formal with black tie and long and short dresses with the ladies. We had booked quite late so were in a side room but we preferred this and would choose this again. There was a glass of sparkling wine on arrival. Drinks were ordered and paid for at the bar adjoining the function suite. The food was very good. The starters we chose were smoked salmon with a salmon mousse, asparagus and a delicious sauce. This was followed by a Mango Sorbet. Our men then had Beef Wellington whilst my daughter and I had Goats Cheese Tart. We were all very happy with our choices. The staff were attentive, friendly and efficient. The dessert was cherry meringue and a chocolate sponge. It was purely personal preference but none of us liked the chocolate part. A little more of the cherry meringue would have been fine by itself. Tea, coffee and cheese and biscuits were help yourself if wanted. After dinner there was entertainment by a Ratpack Tribute Act. Didn’t sound like them but good voices and familiar songs. During the interval the DJ took over and had everyone on the floor dancing. Everyone joined in with the countdown to midnight and soon after we took a slow walk back to our rooms. The buffet breakfast was very good with one of the best selections of food I’ve seen in a hotel. Even down to smoked salmon and mackerel if wanted. We had a lovely, memorable New Year’s Eve and are already talking about booking for this year!…
Firstly the location is perfect for visiting family, as many others in this area. Therefore the spa and gym and 4 star rating swung it. The gym, like the rest of the hotel is way past its best years. The spa and pool are OK, although, not all the showers work. The bar is OK, but neglected by the staff. Tables are dirty and often no one behind the bar. The restaurant has a below average menu. We decided to have a takeaway delivered. The atmosphere in general from staff throughout, lacks an enthusiasm or motivation for working there. Avoid.
This hotel is very old-fashioned, the carpets and the furniture looks like they're from the 1980s. The room was fairly clean and staff on the whole are friendly. However, the room was very hot and guests have no control over the temperature which meant I had to sleep with the window open and use the fan that is provided all night which is a waste of energy. The big issue with this hotel is the cost and quality of the food. Me and my partner ordered breakfast with the room each day and what a massive disappointment. The first morning we had breakfast the sausages were pink in the middle, the bacon resembled leather and was almost black in parts. The fried eggs were very hard and the fried bread I was not brave enough to try it as they were all different shades of dark brown. I can honestly say that for an English hotel this is the WORST fried breakfast I have ever had in the UK and I have lived in the UK my whole life. The next morning it was marginally better but the woman in there was very rude. After sitting down she then asked me to move in which I declined. She took great offence to this. My advice to the hotel is either improve the breakfast and train staff to cook the food correctly and greet customers at the door or do not offer this service any longer. Furthermore, breakfast should be fresh or cooked to order. At best people will be disappointed at worst people will be poisoned. The food in the restaurant is extremely overpriced for what you actually receive. The prices on the website are incorrect and state a cheaper price for some items than they actually are on the menu in the bar and restaurant. Most main courses start from £15 which is unreasonable for a hotel of this calibre. I would expect to pay this at a much better hotel. This could lead to people ordering food from one of the online food couriers as you can get better food for a third of the price. My advice for the hotel is to lower your prices, it should not cost £30 for two very small portions of chips and two pieces of fish. Furthermore, the chips are of low quality and seem oven baked not fried. The onion rings that I also bought separately were from a cheap freezer pack and again oven baked. I would consider staying here again if they just improve the food and lower the prices or my advice to guest order food from somewhere else as you can almost get any food delivered now at a much better price and do not get breakfast with your room.…
Stayed here with my son for one night and was horrendous from check in,check out. No customer service. Still awaiting a reply from Senior management regarding our stay, but the silence sums up the customer care they show.
Hotel is tired and dirty the spa pool area dirty as I was swimming hair was getting caught in my fingers. Head board room was dirty and fell off the wall. Needs a total overhaul it could be nice but I’m afraid it needs money spent on it. Staff were lovely but inexperienced two glasses of wine and a lemonade £20 expensive. Food was ok won’t be going back
Room was nice. Spa treatment was great, but spa area was disappointing. Pool was small, no jacuzzi and sauna and steam room were small. You could only fit 4 people at a push in the steam room. The relaxation area was not a separate room and was tiny. Food at the Squires restaurant was great.
I visit Bridgewood manor regularly on child free nights. The atmosphere is always very welcoming and staff are always extremely helpful. The spa facilities are always extremely pleasant and how can you go wrong with a white robe and slippers! Bedrooms are spacious and extremely clean. Prices are incredibly generous and always leave extremely happy & relaxed. Will be definitely coming again.
Amazing experience! The best receptionists/spa & dinner team. Receptionists were extremely helpful & made us feel really welcome & comfortable. Really left us with a wonderful experience to remember:) Also to mention such great facilities.
The best thing about this hotel was the bed. Very comfortable and made for a good nights sleep. The breakfast was a good 9/10 too. However… the spa needs serious updating. I also treated myself to a deep tissue massage… I wish I hadn’t. I didn’t get the full hour I paid for (lasted around 45mins at most) and I’m surprised my skin wasn’t ripped off as the ladies nails scraped me throughout. The room service was passable, but where the £5 tray charge goes, when the half the drinks have created a pool on the tray…. I don’t know. Lots of young people are running this hotel and it seems half of them just can’t be bothered. I got room service only because I persevered for 15/20 mins each time as no one was answering the phones. The food we received in room service was also not great. Soggy chips, luke warm nachos and a ham hock sandwich with none of the trimmings described in the menu. Poor. Won’t be staying again.…
