Late Sunday afternoon and we chose here to enjoy a drink and late lunch. With the Sunday roasts in additon to the main menu this offers a great venue and delicious food. Being late afternoon there were a couple of dishes sold out but all we were well impressed with their choices. The food was well presented and plentiful, which sadly put pay to the dessert menu, but all left well-filled and satisfied. With a wide choice of beers, wines and spirits to accompany any food orders this is a great place to sit and relax with friendly service and excellent value for money. Would definitely return, especially on a Sunday just for the roast dinner. with ample seating in a variety of choices from sofas, bar stools and more formal tables this offers something for everyone.

I cannot stress enough how pleased I am with the service I received at the White Star Tavern. It was excellent and that's hard to come by these days !!! The breakfast menu is superb with many healthy options, which was a nice surprise :). The room was VERY comfortable, clean, and nicely decorated. The minibar was stocked daily with water in glass bottles (this was great!) and beer. Nice touches such as chocolates, good quality coffee and tea in the room was also an added bonus.

I would not think twice about staying there again and look forward to another visit in the future :)

Cheers!

Melanie

Popped in for a few drinks and food on Saturday night. Welcoming and attentive bar staff and food is of a significantly better quality than what one would normally expect in a pub but at a very reasonable price. Waitress good as well and a nice buzz about the place. My only gripe is that I didn't get offered the anniversary glass that I apparently should have got with my fourth pint of Pride. I guess I'll just have to go back and have another four.

I picked the Traven as a place to stay from the internet, Why? well a simple two night stay for a hospital appointment, But I had booked it as I really liked the menu and thought to myself "Ok this might be nice"
So upon check in the staff notice I was in fact on crutches (due to a leg operation). Without even questioning my mobility my room was changed to the point of the easiest movement for me!! What a great start, bags were taken away to my room and refreshments served to this traveler.
Upon entering room everything was correct, clean and above all good quality of bedding, pillows and towels, this is something that either makes or breaks my day!
My day was made!
Ok down stairs for food, I picked a simple dish and was very happy to say the chef had cooked it to perfection, which is always a good start!! ( at this point I dont mind telling you that I have been at the forefront of food design and hospitality for 37 years, I own my own restaurants out in the middle east along with a TV Cooking show) so to say the least I KNOW MY ONIONS lol. The staff at the time knew nothing of my history and I liked that, the bar service was friendly and knowledgeable.
Although food is not served in the rooms due to my leg being badly damaged they said don't worry if you can't make it down after a long day, we will bring your food upstairs no problem. I didn't ask for this!! it's just something good professionals do!!
I was sat having breakfast one morning and the manageress and her great team had just been awarded Cellarperson of the year award!! SO! this also tells you they keep a perfect cellar which just goes to show you that its not all that you see that counts but what goes on behind the scenes, where most of the hard work happens.

I had booked in for two nights and ended up staying for four I really enjoyed it that much! Plus the place has a great history.
I would recommend everyone to come and stay here or even just pop in for a lunch or dinner.

We booked several rooms for bed and breakfast and spent the evening in the pub.
All the staff were exemplary and we felt extremely well looked after.
The rooms are very good value comfortable and lovely and clean.
The app for ordering food and drinks is very easy to use and everything was brought to the table efficiently and empties cleared.

I Would recommend coming to stay here for a city break.

From start to finish, Bridget and her staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly, responsive and also fun to be around.  The rooms were very comfortable, clean and felt homely, plus the shower was outstanding!  Breakfast each morning was served quickly, hot and very tasty, and enjoyed the end of day drinks in the comfortable bar.  The location could not be better - within a few yards of some great restaurants, and 5 - 10 min walk from nearly everything else in the town.  Despite being located in a busy restaurant area, our rooms were quiet and we heard no external noises.  Will definitely be back and strongly recommend to others heading to Southampton.

We come to Southampton for T20 Cricket with two other couples for long weekend, so I did not book his hotel and was a little apprehensive but pleasantly surprised when we arrived and given our room keys, The value for money was unbelievable. The room was stylish clean and comfortable with Air Con a nespresso machine, tea pigs tea and a bespoke coffee and chocolate pairing selection. There was complimentary water (still and sparkling) a beer & fresh milk. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was superb and there was an excellent selection. Coffee was great. All the staff were superb nothing was a problem. and Oxford Street offers lively bars restaurants and music, If you need somewhere to stay in Southampton this is the place! I wouldn't stay anywhere else now and will definitely be back.

My experience from ck in to ck out was delightful. The staff greeted us with smiles each time we saw them and were so willing to help with anything we needed. The room was spotless and filled with delicious chocolates, bottled water, and variety of teas. The tavern had a nice variety of food and drinks for very reasonable prices. When we were here they had a special for buy one drink and get one free. The breakfast was delicious! We had the English breakfast which included black pudding, eggs, beans, bacon, and tomatoes. There were an assortment of breads, cereals, jams, yogurt, fruit, and juices to choose from. There were many more choices from the menu but I absolutely love black pudding and never pass on an opportunity to have it!

We were a few minutes walk from the cruise port and the Titanic plaque.
I recommend this place to everyone and would definitely stay again!

Booking last minute I chose White Star Tavern as it was cheaper than the budget hotels so wasn't expecting much... However, the room was impeccable; amazing attention to detail, both in design and amenities. Top end tea and coffee on offer and refreshments in fridge all complimentary. The breakfast comes included in the price and was made to order, with premium ingredients. Astounded with the quality of service and accomodation for the price. Would 100% recommend and will stay again when next back in Southampton.

The room we stayed in was clean and modern, with good tea and coffee making facilities including fresh milk, always a plus because I really don’t like long life milk pods. The breakfast was excellent but more importantly for me all the staff, we interacted with, were friendly and very customer service focused. Would highly recommend and will stay there again.

Hello there! Unfortunately we do not have any lifts on site, but we always have staff available to carry your luggage to and from the rooms. The reception desk is unmanned, so we ask that you make yourself known at the bar when you arrive and a manager will take you upstairs to get you checked in.

The Titanic room is one of our upper deck sweets that feature the stand alone bath. The rooms are all named after famous ships and boats, which helps maintain a nautical theme throughout. The prices of our rooms are all flexible based on demand in the local area.
