Overall, the stay was acceptable. The staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel and room were clean, the breakfast was good value, and the shower was excellent. This was let down by the hotel being in a noisy location and by the bed being uncomfortable. My room on my first night was on the side away from the main entrance door. This meant my room was adjacent to a MacDonald's restaurant. I could not leave my window open because the MacDonald's had very noisy equipment on the roof (I guess air con, cooling and heating) that kept me awake all night. So I asked to be moved to the other side for my second night. It turns out that side is affected by noise from a dual carriageway main road. So not much better. The problem with the bed is that the mattress is foam and not sprung.…
A budget hotel in the city centre. Nothing more, nothing less than its name says. Cheap, clean, simple, close to everywhere in the city centre. Very friendly and helpful staff. If someone travels on budget it's perfect for a couple of nights.
The clue to this hotel is in the name. We booked 3 rooms for two nights for the boatshow. To be honest it was basic but perfectly suited our needs. I've just recently stayed at the Waldorf Hotel in London and the Shower in my room was far superior to the one in the Waldorf. It was good value for money for the boatshow weekend £222 per foom for two nights. We had a few issues with room cards etc however Maddison the receptionist politely & efficiently sorted them out and is a credit to the hotel. We will definitely be stopping next year for the boatshow.
No complaints in terms of location. 5 minutes walk from train station and only another 10 minutes to the horizon terminal if travelling with msc. Check in was quick and efficient. Had a room.on 3rd floor overlooking the car park. No problem either noise but pillows are very hard so be warned. Complimentary breakfast was basic but pleasant. Perfect for an overnight stay.
Our rooms were on the fourth floor, overlooking the 24 hour McDonalds, which has an array of extractor fans on the roof. These run constantly, including all night, sounding like aeroplane engines. The hotel double glazed windows barely reduce the noise, and so it was impossible to get any sleep at all. Chatting to some other guests in the morning, they said they had the same problem. On leaving, the receptionist asked if "everything had been alright for us". I explained the problem but she didn't respond. So, if you are looking for a sleepless night in Southampton, this is the place to stay.
I know it says budget but jesus christ. There's only 1 staff member on reception so when checking in it's so slow. Took us around 20 minutes to be seen. No coffee and tea making facilities in the room so you have to go to reception (and wait another god knows how long) for them to give you a kettle and what not. 1 plug in the entire room so you either have to choose kettle, TV, charger or whatever. In triple room with bunk bed, the bed hadn't even been made. Then when I did start to make it I noticed the sheets were filthy and had holes in. Sheets also smelt weird, just didn't feel nice to sleep in at all. Pen all over the walls and LED lights around the room hanging off. Just all round bloody awful. Avoid avoid avoid.
What a awful room we had, there was no space to turn, separate toilet !! dirty not what we had expected, we asked for extra towels,we never got them, there is no kettles in rooms, very very basic,we have stayed at many ibis hotels before & they have always been good, but not this 1,won’t ever be back, not cheap either !!!
Be warned ... This hotel has NO AIRCONDITIONING only a machine that takes out side air and tried to "condition" it before entering the room. With outside temp of 93 daytime and 72overnight ... Our room was in excess of 90F at 10pm and upper bunk bed by ceiling close to 100F ... by 3am had cooled to a frigid 82F and bunk area 94F .. at wake up ... down to 76F and 85F We had two table fans going and I was forced to stay up all night in order to keep main door open to create an outgoing breeze why family slept. Manager (called in from sister property in parking lot) solution .... "give them another fan or call a cab and they can move to a different property". They did offer 10% off for next stay though at check out. Anyone want the code ?? We will never set foot here again. AVOID if you have any other options…
Stayed here for one night, receptionist very helpful regarding payment of car parking for 5 days. The hotel didnt accept cash only cards and i had taken only cash with me !!.problem was resolved and i would like to say thank you.
Basic but comfortable room & all perfectly clean. Only stayed 1 night so storage not an issue but note only a very small hanging rail, if you need to properly unpack. Not noisy as such, but it’s right next to McDonald’s and the associated late night car visits. Breakfast was absolutely fine; all the usual cold stuff, incl cereal, fruit & pastries. You need to pay for parking (£10 per night).
