Our indoor heated swimming pool is open. (Our outside seasonal swimming pool, Steam, Sauna, Hot-Tub and games room remain closed). Crofton House Hotel is exclusively for adults; set in an 1850's villa, in an idyllic position on the English Riviera, with a mix of 10 quality suites and rooms. We have reduced the number of rooms from 16 to 10 to ensure COVID-19 Guidelines are adhered. Awarded 'Travellers Choice' on TripAdvisor, we offer guests the widest range of leisure facilities for a hotel of our size. Crofton House offers a ‘cooked to order’ menu at breakfast and an ‘all day’ menu using a range of local produce, served in the 'sea lounge' dining room or out on the sun terrace overlooking the garden with a sea view. The mature garden has a private gate leading through 'Croft Meadow', to the sea front. Although Crofton House is exclusively for adults we are not a suitable hotel for stag and hen parties.

Stayed 1 night at the Crofton whilst in the area. Appreciate we booked a ‘small double room’ but it really was tiny - the bathroom resembled an airplane toilet in size. Complimentary shampoo and conditioner was provided but no soap or body wash which seemed odd - soap to wash your hands with would be appreciated. Bed was relatively comfy. Check-in was simple but we were left to our own devices mostly - no information provided about the hotel/facilities or anything around the surrounding area. We didn’t book breakfast in advance and after not being offered this at check-in either decided to find food elsewhere. We went down to check out around 9am but reception was closed with mobile numbers listed on a sheet of paper. We tried the first number which went straight to answer phone. Before trying the second, we were approached by a lady who asked if she could help and took our keys off of us. It was only after walking away did we suddenly think it wasn’t obvious that she did work for the establishment - am assuming she did. All in all a reasonably comfortable stay for 1 night but if I was back in the area I’d try somewhere else next time.

Room Tip: If booking a small double, appreciate it really is a small!

Hotel's Favourite
My husband and I stayed at the Crofton for a week in August and had a simply brilliant time. The service was exemplary from start to finish with exceptional COVID measures which we both found extremely reassuring. The staff here work so hard and nothing is ever too much trouble (even lending my husband a pen to write his anniversary card!) which then led to two glasses of fizz being offered complementary on our anniversary. These personal touches show that Furdoon and Stuart really pay attention to their guests. Fabulous indoor pool and hot tub made us feel extra spoilt! Highly recommend the breakfasts - especially the fruit salad! - all cooked to order with a gorgeous view over the bay! We must also mention the bed in the Belgrave Suite - it was arguably the most comfortable we have ever slept in… and HUGE!! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay! We would love to return.

Hi Folks. Many thanks for taking time out to provide a review, and 5* rating, of your recent stay with us at Crofton House Hotel. We are so pleased you had such a brilliant time while at Crofton House, enjoying the leisure facilities and the 'cooked to order' breakfasts, not to mention those fresh fruit salads!. Thanks for your appreciation of the attentive staff team who are more than willing to go that little bit further to make sure our guests have a great stay. Pleased you enjoyed the comfort of the Belgrave Suite with its comfy 6ft super-king bed! It is always good to read how guests enjoy their stay, and in these Covid times, feel reassured and relaxed. At the end of the day we are so glad you had such a wonderful anniversary and cheers to may more! Maybe see you next year to cheers you in celebrating another happy year of marriage. Kind regards. Furdoon and Stuart.

As already highlighted by a previous guest - please ignore reviews up to beginning of October as it is now under new management and certainly needs to raise its game to match the service of the previous owners!! No bar. No optional evening meal. No unlimited coffee. No daily servicing of rooms. However that being said the rooms upon arrival were clean and well decorated and spacious. Bed was enormous and extremely comfortable. Breakfast had some options and plentiful and delicious. The swimming pool and "spa" were well presented albeit needed prior booking. It must be stressed that notwithstanding the breakfast cook all the remaining "positives" must be accredited to Geoff who was Mr Versatile from dawn to dusk, nothing too much trouble. Exemplary!

Used to staying in larger hotels so tried a smaller size, due to great reviews. Unfortunately: Bar/Lounge? No licence to sell alcohol (according to receptionist) so no bar any more. Seaview Terrace? A tiny corner of sea could be spotted due to larger trees now obstructing view. Breakfast? Poor Geoff was on his own, no chef. We were third down for breakfast at 830. Breakfast arrived at 915, at which point 2 couples had already left. Quality ok. Second day.....didn't bother with Breakfast. On a positive, beds were comfortable and staff were amenable. We always enjoy our time in Torquay, also like walking so we had no issues with hotel location. Other reviews mention Management but we didn't see them on our 2 night stay. Possibly the reason for Breakfast issues.

Lovely four night stay at this hotel. Must praise Geoff for all his hardwork making sure everything was just perfect. Spa facilities were excellent and you had sole use of them for an hour. Breakfast was delicious and all cooked fresh to order. Geoff you are an asset to this hotel.
